    PriceChecker: for monitoring and reporting ceiling prices of raw cooking materials in Malaysia

    In Malaysia, the prices of essential raw cooking materials such as sugar, rice, and flour are regulated by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) to ensure affordability. However, many consumers struggle to access accurate and timely ceiling price information, making them vulnerable to unethical pricing practices. The lack of a centralized and user-friendly platform for reporting such violations limits the effectiveness of regulatory enforcement and reduces consumer trust in the market. To address these issues, this project developed PriceChecker, a mobile application designed to empower consumers by providing real-time pricing data and enabling them to report violations directly to the authorities. The aim of this project is to improve consumer awareness and support regulatory enforcement through digital solutions. This was achieved by identifying user requirements, designing and developing a mobile app that integrates ceiling price information and violation reporting, and evaluating its usability using the System Usability Scale (SUS). The development process followed the Mobile Application Development Life Cycle (MADLC) methodology, which includes the phases of identification, design, development, prototyping, testing, and maintenance. Key features of the PriceChecker app include barcode scanning for price verification, a reporting form with photo and location upload, real-time price updates by region, and an admin panel to track and manage user-submitted reports. The application enhances market transparency, promotes fair trade practices, and contributes to stronger consumer protection

    RoadGuard: GPS-based accident detection and SOS alerts in real-time

    Road accidents in Malaysia claim the lives of approximately 1.35 million people annually, with an average of 3,700 people every day. In road accident events, providing accurate location data is the most critical detail for first responders as it allows them to reach accident sites quickly, reducing any medical delay that could jeopardize victims' chances of survival. Malaysia’s Emergency Response Services, (MERS) 999 however, depends greatly on human communications to relay essentials information like accident locations and other victim details. This reliance on human communication rather comes with a lot of inefficiency during emergency situations where the callers might face struggle speaking properly due to shock, panic, language differences, as well as lack of geographical knowledge. These factors hinder effective communication, causing missing or inaccurate information, preventing crash victims to receive quick medical aids. To tackle these challenges, this project proposes RoadGuard, a mobile application developed using Android Studio and Firebase, designed to improve emergency response times by utilizing GPS technology for real-time accident reporting directly to MERS 999. Through fast and accurate GPS location of accidents, RoadGuard is able to provide crash victims with quick medical aids, enhancing their survival rates. RoadGuard enables its users (both accident witnesses and victims themselves) to report accidents and send SOS alerts directly to MERS 999 with a single touch, automatically transmitting their GPS data. RoadGuard introduce an alternative way of accident reporting without needing for human communication. Beyond its role in emergency response, RoadGuard also serves as a data collector that gather data on accident-prone areas, providing insights to road safety authorities for necessary improvements. The system also includes a web dashboard for admin and emergency operator use, enabling live monitoring and operator responses. Testing was conducted on a real Android device, and usability was evaluated using the System Usability Scale (SUS) through five participants. The results showed strong user satisfaction, with most users agreeing the app was simple, consistent, and effective

    F-Track: family expenses tracker

    In an era where effective financial management is increasingly critical, many individuals and families continue to struggle with maintaining budgets and tracking expenses. Common challenges include the tedious nature of manual data entry, low financial literacy, and the absence of tools that are both user-friendly and intelligent. This project addresses these issues through the development of F-Track, a web-based expense tracking system designed to be intuitive, efficient, and accessible. The system’s core aim is to help users manage their finances more effectively by allowing voice-enabled expense input, real-time budget monitoring, automated expense categorization, and personalized email notifications. The project is guided by clear objectives: to provide a platform that simplifies expense logging through voice recognition, enhances awareness through real-time alerts, supports categorization of expenses, and enables users to analyze spending habits for improved financial planning. The methodology involves a full-stack development approach using HTML, CSS, JavaScript for the frontend and Node.js with Firebase Firestore and Firebase Authentication on the backend. The Web Speech API is integrated to enable voice recognition, while Firebase Cloud Functions handle automated processes like the checkBudgetAlert function, which monitors user expenses and sends email alerts when limits are exceeded. Results show that F-Track effectively meets its functional and non-functional requirements. Users are able to input transactions hands-free, receive timely alerts, and manage data securely and efficiently. The system also demonstrated scalability, real-time synchronization, and ease of use during testing. By successfully aligning with its initial objectives and addressing the identified problems, F-Track proves to be a practical solution that empowers users to build better financial habits, demonstrating a significant step forward in personalized digital financial tools

    Operational framework of Family Takaful: addressing emerging issues and challenges

    In every action we take, there is certainly a risk, whether small or large. However, our actions as humans generally want to avoid the risk that will occur or at least ensure that the risk will not have a negative impact on ourselves or our environment. One of the alternatives that many people choose to deal with this problem is by contributing to reliable insurance so that it is easy to do any business if unexpected things happen. However, as Muslims who obey the commandments that Allah S.W.T. has set, we need to avoid any things that are forbidden by Allah S.W.T. forbid. Therefore, we should not include ourselves in insurance by taking a takaful package as one of the alternatives to protect ourselves from things that Allah does not approve of. In addition, takaful is also generally divided into 2 types, namely General Takaful and Family Takaful, and in our discussion this time we will discuss more about family takaful, where family takaful focuses more on the risk to the human being himself and his immediate family members (Puji Sucia Sukmaningrum et al., 2021). The definition of takaful in terms of language is the Arabic word "kafala" which means mutual care or mutual guarantee (Masri Azrul bin Nayan et al., 2022). Meanwhile, technically, it means the concept of sharing risks with other members in preparation for any unexpected disaster among them (Puji Sucia Sukmaningrum et al., 2021). Furthermore, family takaful itself is one of the instruments for maintaining maqasid al-shariah and usually includes long-term protection and savings plans for participants and beneficiaries (Safinar Salleh et al., 2019). In the Islamic Financial Services Act (IFSA) 2013, there is a statement about "family takaful certificates" where this certificate covers protection from accidents, illnesses and includes an annuity but does not include personal accident takaful certificates (Undang-Undang Malaysia, 2013). This family takaful plan came into existence in November 1984 with the establishment of Syarikat Takaful Malaysia Berhad and the first takaful act in Malaysia (Masri Azrul bin Nayan et al., 2022)

    Slide presentation for "Fiqh muqaran" Issue 1: Giving Zakat to Non-Muslims Issue Issue 2: Giving Zakat to Immediate Family Members Zakat is one of the five pillars of Islam and plays an important role in building the Islamic social and economic system. It not only aims to purify the property and soul of individual Muslims, but also as an instrument for the fair distribution of wealth in society. Thus, zakat is the pillar of social balance and strengthening brotherhood in the Muslim community. The distribution of zakat has been clearly determined by Allah SWT through verse 60 in Surah al-Tawbah, which details the eight groups (asnaf) who are eligible to receive zakat. However, in the increasingly complex modern world and a plural society that is increasingly interacting closely, various contemporary questions arise about how the distribution of zakat can be handled fairly and based on sharia. Among them are the issue of giving zakat to non-Muslims and the question of the obligation to give zakat to immediate family members. This discussion is important because it touches on the aspects of validity, priority and benefit that need to be considered by the zakat institution and the muzakki (zakat payers). In the context of a multi-racial and multi-religious Malaysian society, as well as challenging economic challenges, this discourse is increasingly gaining attention among Islamic scholars, policymakers, and the general public. Therefore, this presentation will focus on two main issues: 1. The law and fiqh debate on giving zakat to non-Muslims; and 2. The law on giving zakat to immediate family members who are in difficult circumstances. Through an analysis of syarak evidence, scholarly views, and current considerations, we will assess how the principles of zakat can be applied wisely and justly in a contemporary context

    Nanoparticle-assisted enhancement of therapeutic compounds in centella asiatica: a qualitative analysis

    Centella asiatica (CA) is renowned for its medicinal properties, attributed primarily to its triterpenoid saponins: asiaticoside, asiatic acid, madecassoside, and madecassic acid. These compounds support collagen synthesis, wound healing, and exhibit antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. However, natural CA cultivation yields insufficient bioactive compounds to meet market demands. This study investigates zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnONPs) as a means to enhance their production. ZnONPs were applied in varying concentrations (50, 100, 150, 200, and 250 mg/L) to hydroponically grown CA. Plants were harvested at intervals of 7, 14, 21, and 28 days, and analyzed using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). ZnONPs significantly increased asiaticoside and madecassoside levels, particularly at 100 and 150 mg/L within 7 to 14 days. Asiaticoside peaked at 100 mg/L after 14 days, while madecassoside reached maximum levels at 150 mg/L ZnONPs concentration. Both compounds showed significant increases during the early stages of ZnONPs. Asiatic acid and madecassic acid also showed increased production, though the enhancement was less detected compared to asiaticoside and madecassoside. Asiatic acid exhibited significant peaks at 150 mg/L and 200 mg/L, while madecassic acid showed moderate enhancement, with peaks at 100 mg/L and 150 mg/L ZnONP concentrations. However, prolonged exposure and higher concentrations of ZnONPs led to a plateau or decline in compound production, likely due to nanoparticle toxicity. This study highlights the potential of nanotechnology in agriculture to sustainably enhance the production of valuable secondary metabolites in medicinal plants, meeting both pharmaceutical and cosmetic industry needs for consistent and high-quality bioactive compounds

    Solar panel hotspot detector

    The solar industry that continues to grow bigger is facing a huge obstacle in maintaining solar panel lifespan and efficiency due to normal occurrence of hotspots and cracks on solar panel surface. These defects not only shorten the panels' lifespan and limit their energy output but also accelerate their disintegration, resulting in substantial financial losses. Traditional detection techniques are largely manual, time-consuming and prone to errors making it difficult to implement effective preventive maintenance strategies. To address this issue, this mobile solar panel hotspot detector is designed to ease the detection process by making the detection in real-time on mobile smartphone with practical application of a FOMO (Faster Object, More Object)-based machine learning model for the detection of defects on solar panels. The significance of this product lies in improving the efficiency of solar panels defect detection and no longer uses human’s eyes capabilities only during human inspection. In addition, by ensuring that solar panels are well maintained and working optimally will guarantee a steady supply of solar energy.     Understanding job search intentions: a study on psychological drivers among Malaysian Graduates

    This study examines the relationship between job search self-efficacy, subjective norms, PBC, attitude, and job search intention among 139 Malaysian undergraduates in the Klang Valley using the Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB) framework. In recent years, Malaysia has faced increasing challenges of graduate unemployment and skill-related underemployment, raising concerns about students’ readiness to enter the workforce. Understanding the psychological and behavioural factors influencing job search intention is crucial to addressing these issues. The multiple linear regression analysis findings reveal that PBC and attitude significantly and positively influence job search intention. Students with a positive attitude towards job search activities exhibit a higher intention to search, and greater perceived control over the process further strengthens this intention. While subjective norms and job search selfefficacy are positively associated with job search intention, they are not statistically significant predictors. The results highlight the importance of intrinsic factors, such as personal attitudes and control, in shaping job search behaviour. This study recommends that higher education institutions offer targeted career guidance, focusing on resume writing, interview skills, and job market navigation to build students’ confidence. Strengthening engagement in job search activities can improve graduates' employment prospects and contribute to Malaysia’s broader economic development

    Continuous food support for stray animals

    Support for Stray Animals system using ESP32 microcontrollers. The objective is to design an automated and reliable system that ensures a continuous food supply for stray animals while minimizing human intervention. The system integrates key components, including a servo motor for dispensing food, an LDR sensor for detecting ambient light, an ultrasonic sensor to monitor food container levels, and two IR sensors—one for detecting animals and another for checking if food is present in the bowl. A bulb provides illumination during low-light conditions. The ESP32 microcontroller enables wireless communication through the Blynk application, allowing for real-time monitoring, notifications, and remote control. Sensors work in tandem to activate the food dispenser only when necessary, optimizing efficiency and reducing waste. The ultrasonic sensor ensures timely refilling by monitoring food levels, while the system’s automated operation can be overridden manually via the app. This project offers a sustainable and efficient solution for feeding stray animals, contributing to animal welfare and minimizing food waste. By leveraging IoT technologies, the system provides a reliable and user-friendly tool for animal welfare organizations and individuals, promoting a more compassionate community
