    No full text
Cornélie Wouters (1737–1802), also known as the Baroness of Vasse, and her sister Marie Wouters (1739–after 1802), both born in Brussels, had active literary careers in Paris in the 1780s and 1790s, separately and collaboratively, composing original works in French and translating a substantial corpus of theatre, history, and fiction from English to French. Notable publications include a twelve-volume history of English theatre, an allegorical fairy-tale version of the American Revolution, a lunar travel narrative, and a political pamphlet addressed to the French National Assembly arguing that the new republic should grant full rights to Jews. In all their works, the sisters take a special interest in relations between France and England, and, in some, they take an even more global view, as in Cornélie Wouters’ Le nouveau continent (1783), whose narrative stretches from the new United States to imperial Russia, and La Belle indienne (1798), the story of a girl from India raised by nobles in Paris during the reign of Louis XVI

Social media websites allow people all around the world to find communities and make connections. Many social media sites are for general use and have lots of diverse and thriving communities engaging with content, but this can make it hard to find a particular niche. Some sites solve this issue by focusing on a particular topic, such as GoodReads, a social media site focused on books (“Goodreads”). TheCheeseBoard is a social media web app focused on cheese that, taking after its predecessors, allows users to find a community of cheese lovers and enthusiasts and learn more about cheese all in one centralized location. Users can rate and review cheeses they’ve tried, mark a cheese as ‘want to try’, add cheeses to custom boards, read other users’ reviews, and comment on reviews to start a conversation. TheCheeseBoard builds a community of those who already love cheese and can make learning less intimidating for those just beginning to explore beyond grocery store cheddar and parmesan

    No full text
The Brotherhood DPU is a Center for Diversity and Conclusion (CDI) based organization that is composed of men of color on DePauw’s campus. The Brotherhood has over 50 members (and growing) and hosts around 20 events in a year. These include philanthropy, social and general body meetings. Due to the growth of the Brotherhood over a short period of time, communication between the organization\u27s executive leadership, the general body members and the student body has been a struggle to establish for the organization. The BrotherhoodDPU website establishes a direct connection between everything the organization needs to communicate with its entire audience. The BrotherhoodDPU website is a place where users can identify The BrotherhoodDPU’s identity by being able to easily find the organization’s core values and a visualization of those values in action. Users can see a clear representation of the event schedule for the organization and even be able to RSVP right from the website. The BrotherhoodDPU website shows who is currently leading the organization, which is updated every year. Users are also able to contact the organization, where their comments can be analyzed by the organization leaders. Additionally, Brotherhood members can access a publicly-restricted page of the website that holds information specific to organizational needs

Oscillated Projection of Adversarial Light (OPAL)

    No full text
OPAL, or Oscillated Projection of Adversarial Light, is an attempt to realize modern day research into adversarial examples by way of a device that uses light itself as a perturbation. A Raspberry Pi 4 is used to play tones on a speaker; a mounted laser then casts light onto a mirror which is oscillated by the sound playing. This configuration projects patterns onto a road sign which is then evaluated by an object detection model running on the Pi. The inference with the maximum loss is the optimal example which is then projected onto the sign statically. This allows attackers to remotely deploy attacks against autonomous vehicles. In addition, it offers manufacturers a device to test their models against for adversarial interference
