The main function of this app is to facilitate book exchange between users on the same college campus. Each user profile includes the university, book preferences, and available books so that other users can send exchange requests for books of their liking. The app aims to promote reading habits and provide a platform for social connection through a shared hobby

QuickSummary supports multiple levels of summarization (brief, medium, detailed) and multiple languages, making it a versatile tool for a global audience. By integrating seamlessly into the browser, it offers a user-friendly interface that requires minimal setup and provides instant access to summarized content. The project utilizes both client-side JavaScript for text extraction and an external NLP API to ensure fast performance and high-quality outputs. By addressing the common problem of information overload, QuickSummary enhances productivity and focus for a wide range of users. The extension is built to prioritize privacy, with all data processing occurring locally on the user\u27s device unless explicitly permitted otherwise

    YouTube Automation Pipeline

    Many people lack easy access to accurate information about the early followers of Christianity and the hardships they faced during the church\u27s formation. Researching this topic can be time-consuming, and creating engaging content from that research poses an additional challenge. Additionally, finding reliable and comprehensive sources can be difficult, leading to gaps in the historical narrative presented. As a result, the history of the early church and the perseverance of its followers often remains underrepresented in accessible educational content. This YouTube Automation Pipeline addresses this issue by streamlining the process of gathering information, generating video content, and posting it to YouTube. By providing the pipeline with links to articles, journals, and other sources of information about the history of early Christians, the pipeline utilizes its web-scraping micro-service to collect the necessary data. Once the information is gathered, Large Language Models are used to generate scripts and audio for the videos. The YouTube API then publishes the final content, complete with captions and relevant links

    According to the National Center of Education Statistics (NCES), 15.4 million students were enrolled in an undergraduate, degree-earning program during the 2021 academic year (NCES, 2023). By comparison, there are an estimated 1.5 – 1.6 million teachers in post-secondary education (NCES, 2024). Across all types of degree offering institutions (such as private or public colleges), this results in a student-to-teacher ratio ranging from 10:1 and 24:1 (NCES, 2024). This ratio implies that one teacher who may teach at least three courses a semester is responsible for ensuring a quality education and academic success to anywhere between 30 - 72 students (Canyons, 2024). These are 30-to-72 names, final exams, and grades that a professor should ensure success toward. However, this high workload and large pool of people seldom allow teachers to keep up with all students. Compass addresses this problem by providing educators with a data-driven approach to help students succeed academically. Compass aims to give teachers specific insight into their student’s performance – whether strong or weak – and advise the teacher on particular approaches the student can take to improve their performance. It uses data commonly available to teachers to achieve this goal, such as class size, student demographics, quiz/test scores, and letter grades. Its interactive interface and minimal design allow teachers to access academic data at different levels. These scopes include but are not limited to: overall student performance, student performance by class/subject, student performance by assignment type, and individual student performance. With Compass, there is less generalization in feedback and greater accuracy in outlining student success

    Cellular Attachment Assays to Dissect Molecular Drivers of Epidermal Cell Function in Methods in Molecular Biology

    Cell attachment is the process by which cells interact with their environment, including neighboring cells and the extracellular matrix (ECM). Attachment plays a critical role in maintaining skin integrity, promoting wound healing, and facilitating cellular communication in epidermal cells, such as keratinocytes. However, the many different factors that can influence this mechanism make it challenging to recapitulate in cellular models. The overlap between attachment and adhesion mechanisms both physiologically and methodologically further complicate the production of cellular models. Here, we present a flexible, quantitative, and cost-effective tool for studying epidermal attachment under various conditions. We provide optimized starting conditions for several different adaptations of the core protocol and provide approaches for quantitative, reproducible data that can be performed in most laboratories. This assay enhances experimental reproducibility and enables a targeted approach to studying epidermal biology. This approach offers researchers an improved tool for dissecting the molecular events in cell attachment and advancing skin biology research

    The (In)Visibility of Arabic in Spain: Evidence from Online News Articles in Digital Flux, Linguistic Justice and Minoritized Languages

    While Arabic-Spanish contact is a global phenomenon, its presence in the Spanish-speaking world is most widely associated with Spain and in historical contexts (Molina Martínez 2006, Ruhstaller and Gordón Peral 2018). Currently, the extensive vitality of Arabic all across Spain can be largely attributed to the predominantly Moroccan migrant diaspora. As such, current research in this area has centered on multilingual practices of Moroccan Arabic speakers in Spain, as well as how these practices relate to identity and language attitudes (García-Sánchez 2013, Mijares Molina 2006, Moustaoui Srhir 2020, Ready 2021). However, despite the perpetual presence of Arabic in Spain and the considerable Arabic-speaking Moroccan population throughout the country, Arabic and Arabic speakers are often regarded as foreign and separate from Spain’s heritage. Media discourse can be a key site for perpetuating such ideologies: as a widely disseminated medium that often pushes specific interests or agendas, news media can offer insights into the social and political contexts that shape linguistic ideologies about Arabic. Using critical discourse analysis, I examine 60 Spanish online news articles published between 2013-2022, and analyze the representation of Arabic as it is used in Spain. Focusing specifically on news articles that center around Arabic in Catalonia and in Ceuta, I illustrate and problematize the paradoxical visibility and invisibility of Arabic in Spain, as well as how news discourse disowns Arabic and Arabs from Spain’s European heritage
