No full textDeepened Nordic cooperation can speed up the circular economy and unlock multiple benefits and a sustainable, robust development path for the Nordic countries. This report explores how circular economy can be a key enabler for strengthening the Nordics as a region in the new geopolitical landscape. The report presents an overview of the benefits, status, and progress so far on circularity in the Nordics, an inventory of circular economy policies in the Nordics, and a first outline of opportunities for deepened Nordic collaboration and coordination to accelerate the circular transition and building a more resilient, sustainable Nordic region. The report highlights four areas where deepened Nordic cooperation can play an important role

No full textIn 2019, it was estimated that, of 5,000 Nordic start-ups, 10% included solutions that addressed the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). However, many of them struggled to make a profit, especially at the early stages and mostly due to a lack of access to the market and to the right supporters. This publiction consists of two sections: The first part addresses barriers to public procurement, enablers for social innovation, and institutional support measures; In part two, we evaluate how Nordic municipalities use alternative financial models such as social impact bonds (SIBs) and public-private partnerships to achieve social impact
Low-Carbon Circular Transition in the Nordics : Actions needed to unleash the potential
No full textThe Nordic region aims to be a forerunner in the transition to circular economy. This project aimed to find areas, industries, and sectors, and potential in them, important for the circular transition in the Nordics. The barriers for unleashing the potential were also studied.Four areas of industry and two cross-cutting drivers were selected for the study. The bioeconomy, the food and beverage sector, building and construction, and the mobility sector play a prominent role in the Nordic economies. They are also responsible for significant emissions and waste. The drivers – applying new circular business models and better exploiting data/digitalisation – can bring change that holds promise for significant benefits.The study’s results are summed up in a set of recommendations addressing how the barriers can be torn down and how positive impacts of circular transition can be supported

Samtidig har Nordiska rådet också haft anledning att fira rådets 70-årsjubiléum till minne av undertecknandet av Helsingforsavtalet 1952. The Nordic Energy Trilemma : Security of Supply, Prices and the Just Transition
No full textThe Nordic region faces an energy trilemma – three challenges to delivering a secure, affordable, and sustainable energy transition. In view of unprecedented energy prices and geopolitical risk, supply chains, power grids, raw materials, and enabling technologies must be secured to meet the demands of an electrified society in the long term. This report reviews factors that drove the most severe energy crisis in recent memory, with an emphasis on electricity markets, the preparedness of Nordic countries, and their responses. Risks to the energy transition are identified, and measures to mitigate these risks are assessed. Where no such measures exist, actions are proposed to address the gaps. The recommendations herein define national, regional, and international actions to increase energy security and emergency preparedness, such that Nordic societies are ready for future energy crises

Pohjoismaiden neuvosto tekee tiivistä yhteistyötä monien kansainvälisten, alueellisten ja kansallisten parlamentaaristen organisaatioiden kanssa. Strategia sisältää myös tavoitteita ja suosituksia Pohjoismaiden ministerineuvostolle ja Pohjoismaiden hallituksille. Strategins målsättningar styr Nordiska rådets internationella verksamhet. Nordiska rådet har ett nära samarbete med en rad internationella, regionala och nationella parlamentariska organisationer. I strategin ingår även målsättningar och rekommendationer till Nordiska ministerrådet och de nordiska regeringarna. Det övergripande ansvaret för Nordiska rådets internationella samarbete och frågor som berör utrikes-, säkerhets- och försvarspolitiken ligger hos presidiet

No full textEffektiv kommunikation bygger på indsigter om målgruppen - både i kriser og i andre situationer. Ud fra disse indsigter kan kommunikationen målrettes med argumenter og indhold, der afspejler målgruppens ståsted og behov. Formålet med denne guide er at styrke vidensgrundlaget for at kommunikere med gennemslagskraft og effekt i krisesituationer til borgere med etnisk minoritetsbaggrund samt at styrke samarbejdet med aktører, som målgruppen har tillid til. Guiden har særligt fokus på kommunikation om nordiske sundheds- og integrationsindsatser og indeholder caseeksempler fra fire nordiske lande, som kan fungere som inspiration og vidensgrundlag for fremtidige informations- og kommunikationsindsatser, der er målrettet borgere med etnisk minoritetsbaggrund. Guiden er rettet mod nordiske myndigheder og civilsamfundsaktører, som ofte står for kommunikationen i praksis
