Review of Nordic Health Data Research Projects on COVID-19

This initiative aimed togenerate new knowledge about the virus and its impact on public health by leveraging thehigh-quality research infrastructures and public healthcare systems in the region. The initiativeaimed to complement ongoing international efforts by focusing on regional healthcare systemsand patient populations.The call offered a total funding pool of NOK 57 million NOK. The funding was allocated intofive collaborative projects with a focus on using health data to improve understanding ofCOVID-19.This report summarises the feedback provided by researchers involved in the Nordic HealthData Research Projects on COVID-19, along with the impact data and outcomes reported bythese projects
Microcredentials in the Nordic region
No full textFrom a Nordic perspective, microcredentials are not yet part of the formal national education systems. However, the mapping provided by Nordic Network for Lifelong Learning shows that different and diverse types of and contexts for learning exist in the Nordic region. These results illustrate that a strong tradition of learning exists across the Nordic region as a whole – a tradition of learning that places emphasis on the learner. Considering the recent proliferation and development of microcredentials, and the interest the concept has gained, it is possible that a framework build around microcredentials could form a more systematic, consistent and targeted application of the diversity of learning forms and learning experiences – mapped and described in this Investigation – that are currently found in the Nordic region. A more systematic framework for MCs could provide a new format for responsive, timely and flexible learning. This would create added value and heighten the benefits for the learner and for all “end-users” involved in learning. The placement of microcredentials in formal learning landscapes calls for the consideration of how microcredentials, as a complementary way of valuing learning, should be designed and developed to allow individuals to collect and to stack learning experiences in a flexible way, at their own pace, and throughout the course of life. Such considerations, in turn, call for an understanding of formal qualifications and MCs as being complementary – constituting a more dynamic and inclusive landscape of learning, accommodating diverse learning styles and prerequisites. To reach this dynamic system of qualification and learning options, the use of MCs should be flexible in order to accommodate individual learning pathways with options of stacking learning credentials to full qualifications, while standards for Validation of Prior Learning (VPL) and National Qualifications Frameworks (NQFs) are developed for these requirements. Considering formal qualification systems and a flexible system for MCs as parallel, permeable structures, not fully integrated but connected by providing doors that can open in both directions, these two co-existing structures could generate mutual benefits as well as support and nourish the lifelong learning of the individual
Harmonised Carbon Limit Values for Buildings in Nordic Countries: Analysis of the Different Regulatory Needs
No full textBy 2025, the aim for all Nordic countries is to have mandatory life cycle GHG disclosures for buildings in place, leading up to the EPBD GHG disclosure introduced in 2028 and 2030. Denmark introduced a carbon limit in 2023 for large buildings, with Sweden and Finland planning to follow by 2025. Strategies vary, with Sweden and Norway starting with mandatory declarations in 2022 and Denmark introducing a limit value from the beginning alongside the climate declaration. Harmonizing methods for fair competition and stimulating low-carbon solutions is essential. Uniform reference areas and a minimum scope covering upfront carbon emissions are recommended for consistent assessments, alongside agreed definitions of biogenic carbon and compatible database structures for the national generic emission factors and building model classifications

Energy poverty in the Nordic countries
No full textThe Nordic region has a vision to become the most sustainable and integrated region in the world. Secure, affordable and clean energy is fundamental to realising this. Yet, in view of recent unprecedented energy prices and geopolitical risk, the concept of energy poverty has gained a great deal of attention. The Nordic countries have offered varying levels of support to households most affected by the high electricity prices. This report critically examines energy poverty in the Nordics, offering insights into challenges related to energy access and recommending strategies for improvement. In the Nordics it is important to address and reduce energy poverty to make the green transition more inclusive and socially sustainable.

The Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) sets out an ambitious pathway to reach the global vision of a world living in harmony with nature by 2050. Through the UNESCO Man and the Biosphere program (MAB), work has been done for decades for a better balance between man and nature. It is imperative that we learn from these global experiences and promote for further local community-based initiatives and actions in creating even better conditions for the development of nature and society. Digitalt udlån – muligheder og begrænsninger i Norden
No full textDe fysiske biblioteker i Norden ligner hinanden og alle andre biblioteker i Europa, men deres løsninger for digitalt udlån er vidt forskellige. Det spænder fra Danmarks ”eReolen,” der har 9,2 mio. udlån om året til Island, der ikke har en digital udlånstjeneste. De store forskelle skyldes til dels, at bibliotekerne ikke har digitale udlånsrettigheder, som de har fysiske ditto, og derfor bliver de nationale løsninger underlagt lokale prioriteter og markedslogikker frem for internationalt standardiserede løsninger. Der er et hul i bibliotekernes digitale litteraturlevering på tværs af de nordiske lande og sprog, således at de nordiske borgere afskæres fra at kunne låne digitale titler fra andre nordiske lande.The physical libraries in the Nordic countries resemble each other and all other libraries in Europe, but their solutions for digital lending vary widely. It ranges from Denmark's "eReolen," which has 9.2 million loans a year, to Iceland, which does not have a digital lending service. The major differences are partly due to the fact that libraries do not have digital lending rights as they do physical ones, and therefore the national solutions are subjected to local priorities and market logic rather than internationally standardized solutions. There is a gap in the digital literature delivery across the Nordic countries and languages, such that Nordic citizens are cut off from being able to borrow digital titles from other Nordic countries
