Mediebarometern 2024
Damage Costs of Nordic emissions of Short-Lived Climate Pollutants and CO2 : Scenarios for 2015–2050
Nordic greenhouse gas and air pollution emissions continue to negatively affect the environment, human health, the economy, and the possibilities to stabilise climate change. However, there is a lack of knowledge about the damage costs associated with these emissions, especially the damage costs of short-lived climate forcers' (SLCFs) effect on climate change. This report estimates more complete damage costs by incorporating SLCF climate change impact of the emissions and their monetary value. By 2040, SLCF climate damage costs will reach €600M/year in Denmark and Norway, €250M in Finland, and €240M in Sweden. With Nordic CO2 emissions projected to sharply decline, SLCF damage costs may be equally high by 2050. The report calls for policy updates, improved research, and consideration of stronger emission reduction targets
Advection of zooplankton onto the Nordic shelves and effects on forage fish, demersal fish and seabirds
In this report indices of the strength of the subpolar gyre (SPG) and the East Icelandic Current (EIC) are compared with zooplankton, forage fish (capelin, sandeels, herring), recruitment of demersal fish (cod, haddock) and production of seabirds (Atlantic puffin, black-legged kittiwake) on the Icelandic, Faroe and Norwegian shelves. Results strongly indicated that a large SPG and/or strong EIC seemed to cause elevated levels of zooplankton, forage fish, demersal fish recruitment and seabird productivity on the three Nordic shelves. Importantly there was a prominent low-production period from 2003 to 2014 that could clearly been seen in most of the data series. Hence, this study is of vital importance to ecosystem based management on the three Nordic shelves
The right of children and young people to be heard, seen, and involved in the Nordic region : Conference report
This report summarizes the key findings and insights from the conference The right of children and young people to be heard, seen, and involved in the Nordic region, held in Helsinki on 4–5 June 2025. The event, hosted by the Nordic Welfare Centre, marked the conclusion of a four-year initiative launched in 2021 to strengthen the right of children and young people to participate in decision-making — particularly in response to the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic.Launched in 2021 and supported by NORDBUK and the Nordic Council of Ministers, the project responded to research showing that children’s voices were largely overlooked during the pandemic. The conference brought together researchers, advocates, policymakers and young people to discuss key findings and ways to enhance involvement of children and young people in decision-making, particularly during crises. Many of the speakers were young people themselves. Rather than concluding the project, the conference marked a starting point for continued action. Insights gathered through workshops will inform future research and policy. Youth contributions during this conference have directly informed the report Participation is protection – embedding children’s rights in Nordic crisis governance, which was launched at the Democracy Festival in Arendal 12 August 2025
Tað fara vit at gera við at arbeiða við ítøkiligum politiskum økjum og við at leggja serligan dent á at styrkja fólksliga norðurlendska samstarvið í sivilsamfelagnum. Norðurlond eru fyrst og fremst fólkið, sum her býr.
Mediebarometern 2024: Tema audiovisuella medier
Nordsyn ecodesign task 2 report: Analysis of technical measures to reduce emissions from solid fuel space heaters
Several technologies can reduce emissions from solid fuel space heaters (SFSH). Automatic combustion control (ACC), a primary measure, adds €700–€2,000 to costs but can lower PM, CO, and OGC emissions in lab tests, though real-life proof is limited. Secondary measures include electrostatic precipitators (ESP, €1,500–€3,000, 40–80% particle reduction) and catalysts (€250–€1,000, ~50% CO and 25% VOC reduction), both requiring maintenance and, for catalysts, replacement every 5–10 years. However, reported benefits mainly stem from lab or industry data. Real-world effectiveness depends on correct fuel, moisture content, and usage, highlighting the need for improved certification, long-term field studies, and possibly user guidance technologies

Green eDocuments in the Nordics – Automatic Sustainability Reporting
The aim of this project is to investigate how cross-Nordic collaboration on eDocuments can help reduce the burden of calculating and exchanging climate data. The project included 3 workshops, research, and analysis in the fall of 2024. This focus was to identify datapoints, create mockups, and integration solutions for climate reporting within existing digital infrastructures. The project was conducted collaboratively with experts from Denmark, Norway, Iceland, Finland, and Sweden. The project suggests expanding existing infrastructures and standards to include climate data in existing electronic documents. The report highlights the benefits of frameworks for standardizing climate data. This will make the data more accessible, consistent, reliable and enhance opportunities for automation – reducing manual efforts and administrative burdens while increasing quality and reliability
Nordic NAM Training and Networking Event
New Approach Methods (NAMs) are increasingly integrated into chemical legislation and regulators are already encountering NAM data in their assessments. The Nordic NAM Training and Networking Event was organized to enhance regulators' skills and understanding of NAMs. The event brought together European and Nordic regulators to build capacity in assessing and interpreting NAM data. Day 1 provided European regulators with the latest updates on NAMs within different regulatory frameworks, while Day 2 offered in-depth, on-site training specifically for Nordic regulators. The on-site training focused on practical application and hands-on assessment of NAM data, namely on skin sensitivity and bioaccumulation. The event underscored the importance of collaboration, continuous learning, and knowledge sharing to prepare regulators for emerging NAM methodologies and regulatory challenges
