Assessment of Telework in a Federal Agency at the Operational Phase
No full textTelework as an optional work arrangement has gained significant popularity over the last few decades in organizations of all kinds. Private businesses and public agencies have found telework to be valuable for increasing work capacity while many employees regard telework as an attractive benefit when it is available. Telework provides greater schedule flexibility for employees, an alternative that maintains productivity during weather emergencies, and provides the opportunity for better work-life balance for employees. This paper describes an assessment of attitudes about telework in a federal agency. The impact of telework on agency mission and employee attitudes about related aspects of telework are assessed. The assessment is conducted through an online questionnaire administered to the entire workforce at one specific federal agency location. Issues addressed include teleworker accountability, teamwork, independent work and telework as an employee benefit. Overall, the results indicate mainly positive attitudes about telework, the agency mission and the work environment throughout the agency
IPO underperformance and the idiosyncratic risk puzzle
No full textWe investigate the relationship between IPO long-run underperformance (Ritter, 1991; Loughran and Ritter, 1995) and the idiosyncratic risk puzzle (Ang, Hodrick, Xing, and Zhang, 2006) or the phenomenon of abnormally low returns for stocks with high idiosyncratic risk. We find that IPO long-run underperformance is a manifestation of surprisingly low returns for high idiosyncratic risk stocks. IPO underperformance disappears after we control for idiosyncratic risk. On the other hand, we find that the idiosyncratic risk puzzle is magnified by IPO underperformance. Our results are robust to various specifications or sample requirements. We evaluate a couple of potential common causes for the two puzzles and conclude that investors’ preferences for stocks with lottery features is the primary mechanism linking the two puzzles
Strategic Positioning of the Farm Holiday’s Post-Pandemic Competitive Advantages: Fresh Air and Sunlight
No full textThe farm holiday has the potential to rebound faster following the COVID-19 pandemic than many other forms of tourism. This potential is due to two elements that are abundant in the location of holiday farms: fresh air and sunlight. This conceptual paper synthesizes various streams of research that illustrate how fresh air and sunlight can improve both actual and perceived salutogenesis. This paper then offers a series of recommendations that farm stay venues can adopt in order to, explicitly and implicitly, infuse fresh air and sunshine elements in their marketing messages. Furthermore, there is potential in designing marketing messages for farm holidays that demand further research activities, continuous information and awareness raising

Our topic of early voting within a presidential election is important because people need to know the difference between reliable and unreliable information in order to stay accurately informed. This is crucial in viewers sharing only reliable and credible content instead of spreading false information. Sharing false or inaccurate information is detrimental to society because viewers have a false sense of a topic. Throughout this presentation, we will demonstrate the differences between opinion journalism and assertion articles through the deconstruction process of evaluating reliability we learned in class.
