Evaluation of the reading habit readiness adequacy of kindergartens in Ankara
The basics of reading habits taking in the family and preschool educational institutions in early childhood. Therefore, It is important the reading habit readiness adequacy of preschool educational institutions. This study was carried out for evaluation about reading habit readiness adequacy of kindergartens in Ankara. State kindergartens affiliated to MoNE within 16 district located within Ankara Metropolitan Municipality borders makes up the area of this research. The sample of this research consists of 6 district, 50 schools and 249 teachers. Descriptive method with questionnaire, observation and interviewing techniques are used in this research. According the results obtained from this study, in terms of the reading habit readiness of kindergartens have positive and negative situations. Examples of positive situations is shown teachers'attitudes and awareness about the importance of preschool term and reading habit readiness implementation in this term and childrens' positive attitudes against reading. Examples of negative situations of reading habit readiness education is shown inadequacies of families and training deficiencies of teachers in this topic, physical inadequacies of kindergartens, library and material deficiencies of kindergartens. The hypothesis defined "Reading habit readiness functions of state kindergartens affiliated to MoNE in Ankara are not exactly in a position to fulfill" has been confirmed as the result of the research
The Bab-ı Defteri Institution in the 16th century and the register of financial orders
The subject of this thesis comprises the Defterdarlık institution in the 16th and the financial orders registers (maliye ahkam defterleri) kept by this establishment. Our knowledge of the Defterdarlık institution during the period covered in the subject of this thesis was based on the mecmua written in te second half of the 16th century and first used by smail Hakkı Uzunçarsılı. In this thesis, the development of the Defterdarlık institution in the 15th and 16th centuries, beginning from the time of Fatih, is examined for the first time with reference to documents from the Basbakanlık Osmanlı Arsivi (Prime Ministry Ottoman Archives) and the emergence and development of the Defterdarlık institution and its staff positions are shown chronologically, with accompanying statistics and tables. In the second chapter of the thesis, the financial orders registers are examined and an attempt has been made to define the form and content characteristics of the financial orders registers kept throughout the 16th century by the Defterdarlık, by means of a detailed study of 12 surviving registers. These registers, which cover the period between the dates of 927- 987/1520-1580 have sufficient substance to demonstrate the changes in the form and content of the financial orders registers taking place in the course of the 16th century. They include some excellent examples, such as those dated 927, 960, 973, 980 and 984 containing all the entries for a full hicri year and having a volume of up to 1,984 pages. In the course of the work done on these registers, the registers themselves and the diplomatic particulars of the various document genres, such as hüküm, berat, tezkire and hüccet, are examined and various examples of each document genre are studied. In the third chapter of the thesis, the official orders registers are evaluated in terms of content. In this part, a summary is made of all the documents contained in the registers and concept indexes based on this summary are drawn up and the concepts grouped under subject headings. In this final part of the thesis, 36,364 concepts, grouped under 4,944 subject headings are examined under 7 main headings and evaluated from a historical point of view
Records management in Turkish banks and a model for banks in Turkey
Banking institutions have undergone great improvements and changes through their evolutionary progress. This evolution has influenced the management and organizational structures of these institutions. The main cause of the increased records production is this diversity of banking services and this has also triggered the improvements in the management of bank records. Banks have great responsibility for their customers and this responsibility has urged them to develop a systematic records management program. In this study the management of records and archives of banking institutions in Turkey are analysed. The weaknesses of these applications in each institution and the differences between them are determined and a model for records management program is developed
Performance management and practices for archives personnel in organizations
In recent years, as the importance of information increases, the importance of information and records management increases too. Especially the decision making, planning, product/services producing, customer relationship management processes that managers deal with in organizations, are leading organizations to establish archives / records management departments in their organizational structure and to give more importance to these departments. This study has been structured in three parts. The first part is ?Performance Management System anad Performance Appraisal?. In this part, performance management process and performance appraisal process has been explained. The second part is ?Records Management and Records Manager?. In this part the functions os records management process, the job analysis records managers has been explained. Lastly the third part is ?Performance Management Process of Records Manager?. In this part performance standards of records managers has been examined and performance management process has been built. Archives / records management departments can operate effectively if their personnels? performance is high. With this study, it has been tried to form the performance management process and the performance appraisal forms that can be used in this process for the personnel in archives / records management departments
Collection development policies in public libraries: An evaluation on public libraries in Turkey
Collection development policy is the document text which defines the size of the existing collection of a library, maintains or plans development of sources, reveals the power of the collection, displays the relationship between the selection philosophy and general purposes of the institution, and results as a product of freedom of thought. The collection is expected to be suitable for the user in terms of quality and quantity and, in this respect, each public library is expected to have a collection development policy. With this in mind; the structure of collection development services, the condition of the collection development policies at the provincial and district public libraries, and opinions and ideas of directors and personnel in provincial and district public libraries on collection development policies were evaluated within the scope of the survey carried out. The study analyzes current conditions of collection development policies, institutional needs, user requirements and expectations in public libraries offering service in all provinces and certain districts of Turkey. Within this framework, the data required for reconstitution of services and revision of currently effective Publication Selection Regulation was obtained. As a result of the research, the hypothesis "A collection development policy with regard to local and regional requirements and international conditions could not be established in the public libraries in Turkey" and the sub-hypothesis "Application of sustainable collection development policies can be achieved by structuring training programs with the support of universities for the personnel working in public libraries to understand the importance of collection development in a broader sense, increasing the authorizations of the regions in collection development, increasing budget opportunities and the rate of electronic resources in budget, regularly performing public analyses, and increasing the number of personnel with professional formation and providing them with authorization" were verified
Analysis of electronic resources that used in academic medical libraries in Turkey
This research is composed of, the history and the definitions of medical libraries as well as the variations and the definitions of the electronic resources that used in academic medical libraries. Regarding the research a survey has been applied to the libriaries which belong to the medical faculties throughout the country's state and private universities. In this survey under the following headlines data is obtained; variations of e-resources that used, library staffs background, published document's status, which e-resources mostly preferred and which qualifications of e-resources mostly stressed in making the preferance. After having the survey results, the outcome of the survey has been evaluated and inferences drawn. Following the first survey one year later second successive survey has been applied, recent results of the second survey has been comparetively evaluated and additional inferences drawn regarding the changes occured within one year
Mülknames in Ottoman diplomatics
In this study documents from original Ottoman mulknames were identified and evaluated according to principles of diplomatic science. Since the mulknames have not been examined in this way before this theses is one of the first studies focusing on the diplomatic examination of the mulknames. The current study consists of an introduction followed by three parts. The introduction part gives information about the role of the mulknames in Ottoman diplomacy. In the first part examples of mulknames from the XIV.-XVII. century were examined juridical and historically. In the second part the mulknames were evaluated and examined by their diplomatic features and categories. The appendix consists of the documents? transcriptions and images
