The role of public libraries' children's departments in Ankara on children's reading habit
Children adopt reading habit at a very early age first in family, and then at school. Children's libraries introduce children with fun settings, quality books and other sources at the stage of gaining reading habit. This study was carried out to detect the role of children's libraries in Ankara on children's reading habit. Children's departments of public libraries taking place in 8 districts in metropolitan municipality of Ankara constitute the research area. The sample of the study includes 8 districts, 17 public libraries and 197 children between the ages of 10-14. Descriptive method with questionnaire, observation and interview techniques were used. According to the results, children have the idea that children's libraries have an important role on strengthening their reading habit. In general, they have positive opinion about libraries, components of library and library services. Libraries' collection needs to be developed in defiance of children's requirements and expectations to attract more children, library buildings should be more comfortable and fun so that children feel at home, and various activities should be organized and announced. The hypothesis defined as "Children's libraries in Ankara have a positive influence on children's reading habit." was confirmed as a result of the study
Librarianship ethics: A research on ethical perception and behaviors of staff in university libraries
The aim of the research is to create awareness about occupational ethics for staff working as librarian and preparing a background for possible improvements by measuring their current ethical perception. In addition to that, considering variability of ethical perception levels of librarians in terms of demographical properties, determination of approach differences to actions are inteded. In the direction of aims survey is applied to 210 librarians of 100 Universities which selected without considering foundation and state distinction. The data gathered from survey is analysed of by SPSS 20 programme. As a result of this research, it is observed that demographical properties cause differences in ethical perception and attitudes of librarians. It has also been found that the moral and ethical concepts are intermingled by the librarians. Findings in the research reveal that a policy of education for the librarianship profession should be developed that incorporates the issue of ethics
The establishment of e records management program in Gjilan Municipality
Enrichment and the creation of archival collections depend on their control and management. To realize this procedure the establishing of a program for records management is needed. In creation of this topic in Kosovo, after the capital Pristina one of the major cities of particular significance, Gjilan is analyzed whether or not is possible to create a records management program. After taking our permit from the mayor of Gjilan the work has begun, in this topic basically a plan has been done and then a working calendar has been conducted. Also all the personnel is notified associated with the project in question and then started work in practice regarding the project in question, negotiations have been developed together with the directors and staff of municipal units to identify the problems, Also a survey has been conducted in order to identify the problems. Although from the past there has been a planning of files in Kosovo, after many changes of political systems and wars that have happened, this area the remains behind, it is also noticed that in the management of documents nothing has been worked. It is mentioned that in municipal level a connection through intranet has been made by the Government of Kosovo, where through this system the document management has been done. During the fieldwork it is managed to find the main functions and subsidiary functions in the municipal services. Regarding this, a file plan has been prepared, together with municipal staff we are trying to assess and to generate as better as possible the key functions and naming of files. For developing of file planning a Turkish model is taken by the prime minister's office, named "standard planning of files". After standardization of the files, the second part, retention period is done. For the development of this plan as basic reference we have taken for the subject archival law in Kosovo also not ignoring the procedures for archival material and retention period, determined by the State Archives Agency of Kosovo. So, by including all life cycle of records, a records management program is prepared. In the end of study, after making and sustainable behavior guidance, the staff with adherence of the program is it assessed that it can be sustainable and effective for all working staff
The identification of Crete documents are conserved in Ottoman Bank Archive and Research Center according to the international archival standarts
By this thesis, it is aimed to have the documents subsit in Hanya that belong to the collection of Ottoman Bank Archive and Research Centre (OBARC) catalogued in accordance to a standart system; it is the system of Manual of Archival Description (MAD). To make the contents of these documents comprehensible, the notions of vesayet, tereke ve rüşd that entreated in the documents are explained. Also there is information on The Orphanage Ministry founded for claiming the Ottoman Orphanage?s rights and Orphan Funds. The process of operating the documents in OBARC where the said documents are conserved is researched and drawed conclusions are presenting the phases the documents went through. This thesis tells about what kind of a system the system of MAD is, its levels and data areas; and in the final chapter there is a catalogue. The aims of this thesis is to make the contents of the documents of The Hanya Orphanage Ministry in Crete that were brought to Thessaloniki with the rendered decision of Composite Interchange Commission in Athens and from here by sea to İstanbul by Kerim Tevfik, the Turkish member of Thessaloniki Subordinate Commission, clear and is smoothing the way of researchers for accessing to these said documents
Istanbul Stock Exchange document and archive management
There has been a great increase in the amount of the document production since the 1900?s with the help of the institutionalization and the heavy usage of the computers at the institutions as a result of the industrialization. The increasing document production necessitated the institutions to control their produced documents, to prevent the production of unnecessary documents and to produce well-qualified documents. The mentioned necessities are the most important factors that create the document management. Document management is a management operation that contains the management of the entire period which starts with the production of the documents and ends with the transfer of the documents to the archives. The institutions and the organizations have to produce the documents, to receive the documents, to store the documents that prove the institutions and the organizations had completed those transactions and to reuse the documents in order to continue their activities, to run the management and to execute legal obligations. In the current era when the production and the usage of the documents reach to an amazing size, it can easily be seen that the importance and the usage of the archives are tremendously increased as parallel to the increase in the number of the data and the documents. The purpose of this paper is to study the correspondence, filing, document and archive operations according to the principles and policies of the document and archive managements. The content of this paper consists of the concepts of ?document management?, ?archive management? and the document and archive services at the ?Istanbul Stock Exchange?. The document and the archive managements are tried to be explained in detail and the document and the archive managements at the Istanbul Stock Exchange are studied
A survey on the personal papers found in information and records centers in Istanbul
Personal archives which reflect activities of individuals are integral parts in establishing unofficial history of a society or state. Therefore intensive advetisement activities are very important to esbalish awareness and to promote use of those archives. The aim of the thesis is to locate all private archives in iformation centers in Istanbul, to determine the problems they face and to give recommendations to solve the problems. The thesis also tries to establish a manual on how personal archives should be taken care of. The first part of the thesis include definitions of private archives, their significance, their status in the policy, their connection with state archives, their resources, their legal status abroad and the types of private archives. In the second part the thesis tries to define the term personal archives which is a sub-group of private archives and establish a manual on how personal archives should dealt with under a records managemet program. The last part include information about personal archives that are housed in iformation centers in Istanbul and biographies of the persons that they belong to. The conclusion part deals with the problems that the personal archives face and gives recommendations to solve them

Commencement of the usage of the electronic records in institutional structures makes it compulsory to make a good archiving and depending on this provide efficient access to electronic records. In the current era when the production and the usage of the documents reach to an amazing size, it can esaily be seen that the importance and the usage of the archives are tremendously increased as parallel to the increase in the number of the data and the documents. The purpose of this paper is to study the correspondance, filing, document and archive operations according to the principles and policies of the document and archive managements in financial companies. In this work, the focus was on program planning and the draft created by the finance company was examined. After that, a general evaluation is performed, suggestions are given and a model proposal is developed.
