Turkish Naval Forces' culture publication (2002-2012)in terms of the reflection of corporate identity and librarianship/publication standarts
No full textDespite the fact that the fields of publishing and librarianship converge in a broad sense, the level of communication between publishers and librarians can be considered to be quite low. The convergence of these areas would contribute to resolving certain issues in both fields. Although the Turkish Standards Institution (TSE) has many standards on publishing, it has to be said that these standards are not at the level required to fulfill current requirements. Thus it is inevitable that publishers and institutions that undertake publishing operations create their own standards. It is apparent that the publishing approach of the continued use of routine applications will not result into the creation of sound products if the fact that publications are the public face of institutions and that publishing products are a reflection of institutional identity is not acknowledged. This study considers the reflection of corporate identity in the publications of the Turkish Naval Forces' cultural publications and its conformity to librarianship/publishing standards and also considers the following; the extent to which corporate publishing overlaps corporate identity, the conformity of Turkish Naval Forces' culture publications to the standards of Turkish Standards Institution and their suitability for the applications of librarianship are investigated. This study has concluded that, as is the case in many institutions, corporate identity is not a determining factor for corporate publishing in the Turkish Naval Forces. It is also concluded that although many university departments have some publishing content, the education offered is not comprehensive and there is a lack of sufficiently qualified staff qualified in the field of publishing. This study also found that the publishing standards of the Turkish Standards Institution are not adhered to during the process of book design and production and that books are produced with no regard for librarianship applications. The book still preserves its place as one of the most important sources of information and as a communication tools in what we refer to as the Information Age. Therefore, the production of good quality publications by institutions that overlap with corporate identity would have a positive impact on the perception of corporate identity
The effect of electronic information and document management systems on efficiency at public sector organizations
No full textThe main objective of this study is to examine the effect of electronic information and electronic document management systems on the efficiency of public sector organizations. Therefore research was carried out in line with this purpose on employees in public sector organizations. The questionnaire developed for this study was sent in link form to 152 public organizations from the survey system of Marmara University. 724 public sector employees participated in the survey and their responses were evaluated accordingly. The data were used to analyze the effect of electronic Information and document management systems on efficiency at public sector organizations. The research concluded that the employment and use of such systems had a positive impact on productivity.

No full textUntil today, many different types of definitions have been made for the term of "innovation" and undoubtly, new innovation definitions are going to be made in the future. Each of these definitions reflect researchers' own perceptions due to their specific study fields, however these definitions also have common points in terms of product and service development necessities. From past to present innovation has been an important topic for the companies which want to attract their customers with their products and service. Even in the past people always studied to have better products and service to make their lives easier. Nowadays it is not enough for companies to provide cheap products and service for their clients to be the leader at their industry, as they need to create difference to compete with their rivals. In order to create this difference, companies need imagination and experience. In today's business world, companies should present new experiences to their clients in order to beat their rivals; therefore innovative ideas are very important for the organizations. Innovative ideas play a major role to reveal hidden problems, because this is a very important practice to resolve the defects and make the process better. Non-profit organizations like information centers are also in competition with their rivals. Information centers which need to collect, save and provide the information when needed, strive for satisfying their customers' needs. If an information center from last century is compared to today's one, differences between two of them can be observed easily and these differences are more likely to increase in the future. Creative ideas are very important to make innovation. Information centers, similar to companies, collect innovative ideas and develop those ideas to produce useful products and service. Customers of information centers are the most important source for them in order to produce innovative ideas. In addition to, characteristics features, experience of the users is a very important source for making innovation. Today many information centers which are aware of this fact are getting closer with their users to collect innovative ideas.
Village primary school library and reading habits in Turkey: Kastamonu county sample
No full textNecessitative of reading is being important from day to day. Reading seems a necessitive for today’s society where technology and science is growing and information is increase rapidly. To follow developing and advance of reading continuity. According to this, reading habit’s important is to take care. Reading habit is necessitative for people to ve cultivated to developing and growing. In our country, while reading habit is researching, two facts are overlooked; firstly, reading habits in villiage; secondly, school libraries situaiton which has an important role for learning and developing reading habits in villiage schools. According to this, in this research, reading habits and school libraries are deal with teorical and practical area. In reality of villiage to appreciate this information, user survey is apply in villiage schools in Kastamonu center town. In content of working, two method is used. First method; ten school was selected in villiage schools in Kastamonu center town and interview was applied to student, teachers and school managements. Second method; one school was choosing from ten schools that are applied interview, an instruction is giving them about effective/ critical reading, reading and library using and pre test- post test technic is applied. End of the working, two hypothesiss which are set up on this working are confirmed. First hypotesis is “Existence of school libraries and teachers motivations effort level about using school libraries effect positive students reading habits and library using habits.” Second hypotesis is “ Instruction which is giving about effective reading method and library using to students, effect positive them about this subject; reading culture and library culture.
