The technical and administrative analysis of the digitisation of periodicals in Atatürk Library
This study, which is titled 'The Technical and Administrative Analysis of the Digitisation of Periodicals in Ataturk Library', examines the digitisation project of the periodicals in Atatürk Library which has one of the richest collections of periodicals in Turkey. After giviving some general information on digitisation, this research analyses the digitisation studies in terms of their requirements, steps, techniques and standards. Following this part, the study addresses the structural system established for the digitisation of periodicals in Atatürk Library, as the leading project in its field among others in Turkey, and the points taken into account over the processes of digitisation together with its related steps. By doing so, the study aims to determine the positive and negative aspects of the system. Finally, the research here concludes with comments and suggestions for the implementation of such digitisation projects under better conditions in the light of opportunities of increasingly advanced information technologies
Database management in information and docment centers: Sample of Yıldız Technical University Central Library
Information technology, a consirerable development opening the doors of information age, is not the solution on its own. If one doesn't have information presenting for use on information networks, one will be sentenced to be a slave unlike those who use this technology with its every features. The way of making the information slave to person is proportional to quantity of information that one uses on information networks. The development about interaction of information and technology prove this. So, to reach the targets mentioned above, this age in which transformation period based on information is the power, continuous education system is popular, information technology is a part of daily life, thesolution is the terms of database technology. The terms of database technologies making up the widest fan of computer science in daily life are defined as technologies composing information basic facilities. In other words, they are technologies that are keeping, manipulating and delivering data. In addition, the feature that they are appraising and using data, explains the scope of Data Base Management System. Database is a technology, but Data Base Management System is the name which emerged after added abstract service such as notiçing, deciding and managing this technology. In this study, the terms of Data Base Management System used in almost every part of daily life mentioned above, will be analyzed and then reviewed the importance and outcomes in terms of information and document centers. For this reason, in part two, the terms of information and document centers are explained and then dealt with the term information community which heavily affects information and document centers. In part three, basic information such as definitions, structures, working systems and data models are summed up. In part four, the stages of composing database system are explained, database security system is mentioned and the importance of information and document center in database system is examined. Finally, in part five, giving the Yıldız Technical University Central Library as an example, all information till there reviewed with two practices. Also there are findings and offers in part of outcomes and suggestions
Archivist in the digital age: Should have basic competencies an roles
Due to etymology of the archive term have been made different definitions by domain experts from the past to present. Basically, definition of archive which apprasial, description, arrangement, preservation and storage of materials is integrated with expressions of building, institution and collection so that it differs from public and private sector. Information age or digital age has come into our lives with 21st century, archival applications have begun to be implemented playing physical and electronic media along with development of the technology. In addition to this process has necessitated new applications. In our country, e-transformation process began in 2009 and the concept of information society has come up and based on structure of the society who uses technology has entered our lives. Information oriented structure of this society has also affected archive users, archive staff and researchers have changed needs. Continuous production of information has enhanced the speed circulation of information and has raised importance of access to information in a short time. On the other hand providing access to archival material next to the process, they have become undertaken social responsibility projects. Users of information society has accessed to any information rapidly and independent of time and space. They also who use information technology and social media tools have come to the fore. Being in the first place Access activities as well as other changes in the archival practices has provided to add new concepts to job descriptions and roles of archive staff. In line with this concept, terms of archivist has changed as the descriptive and functional. Nowadays, although it will vary according to corporate policies of corporate memory and intellectual capital in the creation of an indisputable importance of the role of archivists will increase from day to day, and technological advances of the digital age will become an inevitable role in this process.

Information management in government organization: In the field of economy
The information age is the age of the production, dissemination and use of information intensively. Information and communication technologies are the most important enviromentai factors which shapes the information age. In order to achieve organizational goals today's organizations widely use information technologies. This research aims at finding out the reasons of problems that are tackled in information management applications in public institutions in the economic sector and offering proposals to public sector institutions on information management, which is put on the agenda mostly by private sector institutions. At the end of research, we come to a conclusion that in information management, which is the crucial factor in achieving goals in public institutions, two elements should simultaneously be assessed. These are; the process during which the information needs are defined, the information is provided, arranged and offered and the process that involves the information technology and implementations. The hypothesis of this research is "information management problem in goverment organizations comes from the organizational communication structure". The hypothesis which has been analyzed both user survey, organizational structures and, charts is confirmed by the findings of the research
