A ROAD TRAFFIC VIOLATION DETECTION & REPORTING SYSTEM
This study presents a police-less multi-party traffic violation detection
and reporting system, that does not rely on costly infrastructure or the
presence of law enforcement. It relies solely on broadcast messages among
vehicles and report delivery to the transportation authority.
Firstly, a vehicle is modeled as an automaton (in computational sense) that
has its own state and has a read access to the state of other automata of
other vehicles in a neighborhood of fixed size. The common traffic rules and
communication rules make the program of these automata that guide the
transitions of the vehicles in space and time. By observing the transitions
of the vehicles in their neighborhood, a vehicle can decide if these comply
with the traffic rules encoded in the system.
Whenever a transition is not performed according to the program, a
violation occurs. These violations are reported and witnessed to the
transportation authority by the vehicles in the neighborhood which act
as witnesses and reporters. The system is able find the location and real
identity of any vehicle whenever it commits a rule violation in traffic with
a lightweight protocol. Yet, the system preserves privacy and allows no
false positives
Technocracy and the questionable moral philosophy of management. A Southeast Europe inside.
The moral philosophy of management and the effects of the dominating doctrines in public policy and decision making, in wider terms means to question what kind of relations, once applied, these doctrines and strategies created between state, groups and individual rights. The EU accession of Southeast Europe countries represents a unique chance to understand the real capability and superiority of technocratic solution, as a dominating doctrine in accession processes, exerted in situations of limited capacities in decision making, lack of established democratic institution, which presume weak capabilities in setting up long term strategies. A unique chance to test the real value of the so-called cold and rational solutions in public decision making. In this case the trade off is between the kind of society this political and managerial doctrine creates, how much the interests of those who mandates the “technocratic power” by the power transfer process are still in balance or under consideration
Organisms and Environments as Combined Systems
The present paper aims at exploring the relation between organisms (Life) and environments (Earth), and at showing that nowadays we need new conceptual categories to account for such a relation. Over the last thirty years, indeed, the boundaries of what is meant by “environment” and “organisms” have been transformed, and, more precisely, “Earth” and “Life” must be grasped as a “combined system”. But this dynamic, which does not keep separate the organisms from their life-worlds, it is widely present also at the political and cultural level. So, what is well-known on a scientific level, i.e. that it is the life itself which produces the environment and, at the same time, is subjected to the effects of its modifications on the environment, has to be investigated also at the practical level. Here, a sample of such an investigation will be offered through the analysis of the common mediator of the relationship between Life and Earth, i.e. that metabolic exchange between external and internal bodies that consists of “Food”. Then, some reflections on the current forms of the relationship between environment and “Crime” will be provided and some open questions on the recent concept of “environmental crime” will be raised
10 Years of Academicus International Scientific Journal - The story of contribution in the research in 20 Issues.
A delightful scientific journal which, since its birth in Albania, has quickly learned the ways of the world, bringing Balkan matters and issues abroad, to the East as well as to the West, but also conversely, making known in the Land of Eagles which were the main topics of reflection and study, such as the problems of distant countries and other cultures
THE SYSTEM OF TERRITORIAL DESIGN SYSTEMS. CULTURAL TOURISM, CRAFTSMANSHIP AND DESIGN FOR THE LOCAL DEVELOPMENT OF THE PRODUCTION ENTERPRISES OF EXCELLENCE IN SOUTHERN ITALY AND MADE IN ITALY
Sacred and Profane. Essential ambiguity and vital necessity of the Sacred.
In a situation in which the market economy is regarded as so important and decisive as to induce the emergence of a market society, the notion of the «sacred» becomes essential. The market is perfectly legitimate as a forum of negotiations, but it has a purely instrumental value. A market society is a contradiction in terminis. Only the concept of the Sacred, despite its ambiguity, can preserve and enhance the final values on which a society is built (justice, love, human recognition, interpersonal dialogue)
