    The approach to optimization of the structure of the repair process of aviation radio equipment.

    The Operation System (OS) of Aviation Radio Equipment (ARE) includes such elements as equipment, organizational structure, processes, documentation, personnel, measuring equipment, consumables and information resources, and others. When considering the problems of primary design and modernization of OSs, a large number of problems arise that can be solved with the help of intelligent decision support systems. During the operation of ARE, significant material resources are consumed, the amount of which is usually random. Therefore, during design, one of the main tasks is to ensure the minimum costs. This article considers the task of cost optimization within the organizational structure of the repair process. At the same time, the article provides analytical equations that allow to calculate and estimate operational costs for a given organizational structure, tariffs for repair and delivery of equipment components, and failure flow parameters. Attention is also paid to the task of rationalizing the organizational structure of the repair process, taking into account the efficiency of the decision-making procedures depending on the failure type (simple or complex). In addition, the article considers an example of several scenarios for the possible placement of repair enterprises in the airports of Ukraine during the post-war reconstruction period

    Exploring the role of trust and vulnerability in mental health disclosure

    This chapter examines the complex decision-making process surrounding mental health disclosure in the workplace, emphasizing the crucial role of trust and vulnerability. Existing research highlights the stigma and potential discrimination associated with mental health challenges, making disclosure a complex decision for employees. This chapter argues that disclosure is an inherently relational act, and traditional binary models (conceal/reveal) fail to capture its nuanced nature. Drawing on theories of trust, distrust, and vulnerability, the chapter presents a theoretical framework integrating the individual, interpersonal, and organizational factors influencing disclosure decisions. The framework considers how perceptions of a confidante's trustworthiness (ability, benevolence, integrity) alongside the discloser's own vulnerability and desire for authenticity shape the disclosure process. This chapter draws on empirical evidence to explore how disclosure events are framed and how confidante responses (supportive or unsupportive) impact future disclosure decisions, affecting both the individual and the broader organizational climate. Using illustrative examples from lived experiences, the framework highlights the implications of trust for disclosure decisions. Finally, the chapter identifies key areas for future research, emphasizing the need to understand vulnerability and the spillover effects of disclosure experiences on trust, ultimately aiming to inform practical guidance for creating supportive and trusting work environment

    Eco-Digital Products and Services: Towards New EU Sustainability Rights?

    Within this context and given the focus of the recently adopted Declaration on Digital Rights and Principles on digital sustainability, the present chapter examines whether and to what extent this document is shaping or recognising new sustainability rights in the digital environment. Section II analyses the content of Chapter VI of the Declaration, focusing on its legislative history and subsequent amendments. We will argue that Chapter VI has not recognized a new right to a healthy environment in the digital society, but rather enshrines a principle of sustainable digital products and services. The novelty of this principle is then examined in Section III, which looks in more detail at EU and Member States law as well as at existing digital bills of rights. The chapter will posit that the uniqueness of Chapter VI lies in making explicit the principle of sustainable products and services through an operation of normative retrofitting that reconstructs a guiding principle of already existing EU and Member State regulatory and policy strategies. Finally, Section IV contextualises Chapter VI within the EU digital and environmental policy framework, questioning the feasibility of its ambitions starting from the assumption that even a virtuous digitalisation may negatively affect the environment. We will refer to theories of digital sobriety and degrowth, ultimately arguing that the reconciliation between the twin transitions in the Declaration is unavoidably only partial

    Exploring how young people navigate the evolving online world in the era of Artificial Intelligence and misinformation

    The proliferation of advanced digital media technologies in recent years, such as artificial intelligence (AI), video-sharing platforms, and virtual and augmented reality, has transformed how children and young people connect, learn, and express themselves online.These advancements have also significantly reshaped the landscape of information accessibility and consumption for children and young people (Klopfenstein Frei et al., 2024). One crucial aspect of adolescents' online experience is immediate access to online information. They access information across a wide range of areas, including health and wellness (Abrha et al., 2024), entertainment and pop culture (Ohiagu & Okorie, 2014), and educational resources such as e-books and online tutorials (Oddonw & Merga, 2024). Instead of traditional media formats such as newspapers or TV, adolescents now interact with fragmented, algorithm-based content that reflects their interests, a shift that brings both change and opportunities and challenges. Among these challenges, the rapid spread of false information is one of the key challenges children and young people face while navigating the online world (Reid Chassiakos et al., 2016). Factors such as the interactive and hypertextual features such as repost function and hyperlinks combined with compulsive internet use (Maftei et al., 2022) make spreading false information faster and easier

    Tracking self-regulated learning in action: How individual differences shape positive and negative regulation across three types of tasks

    Self-regulated learning (SRL) is essential for academic success yet few studies have explored how individual-level variables (e.g., prior academic achievement, self-reported SRL skills) relate to both adaptive (positive) and maladaptive (negative) SRL behaviors across different types of tasks. This study investigated the extent to which self-reported SRL skills and prior academic achievement predict both positive and negative SRL behaviors captured through think-aloud protocols, as well as task performance, across three cognitively distinct academic tasks (reading, oral analysis, and written analysis) within a repeated-measures design. Results showed that higher self-reported positive SRL and prior academic achievement predicted greater use of positive SRL strategies and better performance, whereas negative SRL behaviors appeared more sensitive to task demands than to individual traits. These findings highlight the value of distinguishing between positive and negative SRL and of integrating self-report and process data to better understand the dynamics of SRL and inform targeted educational interventions. Educational relevance statement: This paper is educationally relevant because it shows that learning strategies should adapt to different tasks and stages providing evidence that self-regulated learning is context-dependent and dynamic, varying across tasks and individuals. Its findings inform the design of more responsive pedagogical interventions and valid assessment tools that capture students’ regulation processes in real learning contexts, emphasizing the role of prior achievement and strategy use in adaptive regulation

    A key system response of diametric space as a paradigm for understanding the phenomenology of anorexia nervosa

    There is increasing recognition of phenomenological approaches to understanding anorexia nervosa (AN), interrogating lived experiences and voices of those diagnosed with AN. This article builds on phenomenological accounts of AN, taking a step further for a spatial phenomenology, to examine how specific central features of AN experience are structured in diametric spatial terms. Building on growing research on the phenomenology of AN, it is remarkable how consistently the phenomenology of AN clusters around structural features of diametric space, as reactive, compensatory coping mechanisms of splitting, closure, and mirror image inversions. Pervasive features of AN experience and motivation, including control, perfectionism, ambivalence, an anorexic “voice,” the gaze of the other, and self-hate around the body, are all aspects that cluster around the specific spatial system and process of diametric space. Diametric spatial closure from background stimuli offers a spatial concomitant of control. Restriction of food in AN may be part of a wider process of spatial constriction as the operation of a diametric spatial system of experience. This diametric spatial system of experience is in tension with a concentric spatial system, amplifying Ricoeur’s phenomenology of distantiation and Lévi-Strauss’ anthropological insights regarding the interplay between these cross-cultural structures. This conceptual, desk-based review presents a theoretical framework of AN phenomenology as displacement within experiential space, from concentric to diametric space, proposed as a prior system paving the way for bodily tensions in AN, bringing loss of capacity for concentric structured spatial experiences. This treats AN recovery as capacity for restructuring from diametric spatial oppositions to generate connective, relatively open, concentric spaces in life experiences. Developing a spatial interpretative methodology, phenomenological and qualitative AN research sources for application of this spatial analysis were selected based on their direct relevance to key aspects of DSM-5 diagnostic features for AN regarding drive for thinness, body dissatisfaction, and overexercise, as well as for central psychological understandings of AN in terms of control, identity, and perfectionism

    Microplastics from Wearable Bioelectronic Devices: Sources, Risks, and Sustainable Solutions

    Research into non-invasive bioelectronic devices, such as electronic skins (e-skins), offer an inclusive solution to global healthcare by means of their highly versatile sensing applications, measurement accuracy and low production costs. Predominantly, as these devices heavily rely on polymer-based substrates and matrices to give rise to their desirable mechanical compliance, the emerging environmental and health concerns of microplastics (MPs) must now be considered. For research on the cusp of reaching commercialization, a holistic approach to viewing the full impact of such devices cannot be over looked. In this review, the potential for wearable bioelectronic devices as sources for MPs is raised. Special focus is given to the potential health and environmental impact these devices may contribute to, with mitigation strategies that should be considered during the design phase highlighted. Specifically, polysaccharide and protein biopolymers are emphasized as alternatives with extraordinary potential for these devices

    Impacts of urbanization on energy balance in a central Amazonia city

    We investigate the components of radiation and energy balance and heat storage flux in an urban area of Central Amazonia, during the wet and dry seasons of 2022. Detailed radiation and turbulent energy fluxes measurements were conducted using a 30-meter micrometeorological tower. The analyses include an assessment of the energy balance closure, incorporating the urban canopy heat storage term. The main findings were: (i) A footprint analysis showed that during the wet season, the primary energy flux sources were from the impermeable surfaces, while in the dry season, in addition to impermeable surfaces, green areas also influenced the fluxes; (ii) Incoming shortwave radiation was significantly higher during the dry season; (iii) Albedo was higher in dry season compared to the wet season; (iv) Latent heat flux showed low sensitivity to seasonal variability, compared to sensible heat flux; (v) Energy balance closure significantly improved with the inclusion of urban canopy heat storage and soil heat flux, highlighting their critical roles in reducing energy imbalances. The measurements presented in this study are the first Eddy Covariance measurements for an urban region of the Amazon. These results are important for urban climate modeling in tropical regions, providing insights into the impacts of urbanization in the Amazon region

    The Spectrum of Abstraction and Realism in Serious Games for Learning

    The design of serious games for learning is shaped by a fundamental tension between realism and abstraction. Realism in serious games can manifest in multiple dimensions, such as graphical fidelity, sound design, game mechanics, narrative structure etc. Some serious games aim for high-fidelity simulation, replicating real-world scenarios as closely as possible (e.g., flight simulators or medical training applications). Others may incorporate abstract elements while still being grounded in real-world principles, such as strategy games that simplify complex decision-making processes. Abstraction, by removing unnecessary complexity, may reduce extraneous cognitive load and enhance generalisation of learning. In contrast, realism may support situated learning and contextual skill transfer, particularly when training requires familiarity with real-world environments. To better understand the implications of abstraction and realism in serious game design, this paper comparatively explores two case studies: FLIGBY, a corporate leadership development game Cipher, a languagelearning game designed for children. Findings identify six key dimensions that differentiate abstraction and realism in serious games: visual style, audio style, mechanics and interface, rule systems and feedback. Engagement, motivation and cultural perception are also considered, noting that realism may appeal more in professional settings, while abstraction may be particularly effective in child-centred learning environments. This research contributes to the broader field of serious games by providing a conceptual framework to guide educators, game designers and researchers in making informed design decisions, also offering a foundation for future empirical research
