Get PDFCurated by Miriam Glatfelter ’24, the inaugural Susan ’77 and Joseph Biernat ‘75 Intern, this exhibition examines the literary themes in works of art from the collection of Mary Margaret Stewart (1931-2021), a beloved Professor Emerita of English at Gettysburg College (1959-1996). Reading Mary Margaret Stewart features prints of notable authors, including Virginia Woolf and Edgar Alan Poe, as well as works that allude to stories, such as Mark Twain’s “The Notorious Jumping Frog of Calaveras County.” Glatfelter not only considers these various references to fiction and poetry, but she also invites the viewer to read the works in the context of Stewart’s own scholarly pursuits and love of art.https://cupola.gettysburg.edu/artcatalogs/1045/thumbnail.jp
Tadaypaly Veeraragava Roy’s Gettysburg: A Reconstruction-Era Study
No full textOne of the first international students that attended Pennsylvania College (now Gettysburg College) was Tadaypaly Veeraragava Roy, who was a student at the college for about a semester in 1876. Roy was a student from Guntur, a prominent city in what is now the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. Guntur was the center of the American Evangelical Lutheran Church\u27s missionary operations in India, and there were many missionary schools and churches in the region. It is possible that Roy came into contact with Lutheran missionaries that may have made him aware of Pennsylvania College\u27s existence. As one of the college\u27s first nonwhite students, Roy tested the racial boundaries of the period, particularly as the United States reckoned with the aftermath of the Civil War during the Reconstruction period. This paper tries to tell Roy\u27s story in Gettysburg in the broader context of Reconstruction

The results from this new survey illuminate how students are affected by textbook and course material costs, how they cope with these costs, and how effects and behaviors have changed since our 2019 survey. We also examine how our students fit into a larger landscape of textbook affordability at similar institutions

Get PDFData science is an extremely fast growing field in which job opportunities are opening in every industry related to data science. Within the data science field is the sports data science industry which has it\u27s own requirements and specificities that may not be present in other industries. In this paper, research is done using multiple job posting websites such as LinkedIn, Indeed, Sportstek jobs, and TeamworkOnline to explore the job descriptions of many different sports data science jobs. These job descriptions are then examined using Python coding to find the frequencies of specific data science skills in the various job postings to see which skills are most important for aspiring sports data scientists to learn

Get PDFAs part of a new global climate initiative, the United States very one Atlanta based Delta Airlines has recently announced to the world they will be embarking on an initiative to provide a never-before-seen technique of air travel; Completely carbon-neutral air transport and net-zero carbon emissions across all operational sectors of their fleet by 2050. Delta Airlines has now become the first official United States-based airline to promise net-zero carbon flying to the entire public within the next few decades, and the airline is set on being the catalyst in generating positive change for the United States aviation industry and its impact on the environment, domestically and beyond.
In pursuit of this major climate policy, Delta Airlines has showcased its goal to provide carbon-neutral flying as a revolutionary change that has been much needed for many decades. As the airline has decided to set its fiscal and corporate efforts into addressing many of the world\u27s increasingly unregulated climate emissions, Delta believes that this step in pursuing clean flying is just one way the airline can help to do its part in helping to reduce the transportation sectors global carbon footprint. Moving with speed and efficiency, Delta airlines has since implemented a cohesive and theoretically sound policy objective in pursuing net-zero carbon emissions in all finite areas of operations for their set deadline of 2050. The airline\u27s blueprint and infrastructural overhaul are deeply highlighted in many policies analysis papers released by their corporate headquarters, as the allocation of investment, the altering of operational changes, and all worldwide airport operations and employees alike will be affected by this new airline climate policy
