    Get PDF
This presentation discusses how the team of librarians who facilitate Musselman Library\u27s Digital Scholarship Summer Fellowship program have negotiated the shift from local to grant funding, focusing on how we have organized our team and adapted program outcomes, assessment, and reporting to fit the requirements of The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation Presidential Leadership Grant. We review some unexpected challenges when working with grant funding and how we have successfully worked within the parameters of the grant to fit our needs locally

The Southwest Cemetery Church at Golemo Gradište, Village of Konjuh

    No full text
In 2014 excavation was carried out to determine whether or not a church or other structure was located on a small hill south of the fortified, anonymous, Late Antique city at Golemo Gradište, village of Konjuh, Kratovo. The results of the brief investigation indicated that a small, one-aisle church had once stood on the hill in question and that a cemetery had been located to the south and east of the church. Although evidence for chronology is sparse, it seems likely that the church and cemetery functioned during the 5th and 6th centuries AD

Diversity, Continuity, and Disjuncture: Approaching Multivocal Perspectives on Being Muslim in the Himalaya

    No full text
This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book provides shorter, nontraditional perspective pieces – that highlight the interconnections between multiple experiences of Muslim community at local levels, and bring attention to the cultural, social, artistic, and political diversity of the Himalaya beyond the better understood and frequently documented religio-cultural expressions of the region. It traces the history of Islam and Muslims in the region. The book presents a tapestry of accounts of lived experience of Islam and of being Muslim with perspectives from insiders and outsiders of Islam and Muslims in the region. It introduces a number of Urdu terms used for Sufi “saints” in South Asia that draw our attention to locally significant notions of religious authority. The book explores the identity of Tibetan Muslims living in Kashmir and considers something as fundamental as the name of this community

“Where’s the Triangle?” Strategies for Managing Percussionists and Percussion Instruments Part 2: Determining Percussion Needs and Assigning Parts

    No full text
This is the second article in a three-part series addressing each of the keys to success. Here we examine percussion scoring and creating percussion assignment charts. While there is some standardization of percussion writing, almost every piece requires different instruments and a different number of performers. Preparation and score study prior to the initial rehearsal is key to a successful first reading. It is important to do this work in advance to avoid confusion at the first rehearsal, especially if percussionists are young or do not get their parts ahead of the first reading. [excerpt

    06. Richard Richards, Robert Roberts, and Aristotelian Aristotelianism

This paper is a tribute to a philosopher and a person I have long admired, Richard C. Richards. As a clear and rigorous thinker, a thoughtful and accessible writer, and as a kind, blunt, and extremely funny person, Richard embodies virtues I hope to someday claim as well. [excerpt
