Language learning through Facebook: A descriptive case study
According to the statistics as of 15 November 2015 in Italy there are about 28,000,000 Facebook subscribers, which means a 46.1% penetration rate. Facebook is also the most commonly used social networking tool among university students: their involvement and the hours they spend on this popular networking site should encourage educators in higher education institutions to consider it as a place for learning and to integrate it in the academic practices. This paper reports and analyzes the data collected using a questionnaire concerning students’ perceptions of language learning possibilities on Facebook. The survey was conducted at the University of Naples “L’Orientale” (Department of Literary, Linguistics and Comparative Studies) during the academic year 2015-2016 and involved students enrolled in three different courses. At this step, students’ perceptions and attitudes were measured through a questionnaire including several questions about demographic information, their perceptions of Facebook and their use and behavior on this social network site. The main purpose of this study was to find out the role and benefits of Facebook in students’ language learning processes, whether Facebook is able to improve students’ language skills and whether students use specific Facebook groups to facilitate language learning. The study was limited only to the generic social networking site Facebook, excluding all the other social networking sites (including the relatively new Language Learning Social Network Sites (LLSNSs) too, such as Babbel, Busuu, italki; Polyglotclub, etc.)

PASSENGERS’ SATISFACTION IN COACH TRAVEL IN BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA - STUDY ON PERCEPTION OF UNIVERSITY STUDENTS IN SARAJEVO
Abstract: Transportation of people was always very important aspect of human life.
Today, there are many ways in which people can travel. This paper was occupied with
coach travel, and passengers’ satisfaction in it in Bosnia and Herzegovina. A coach
is a type of vehicle used for carrying passengers on excursions, touristic journeys and
trips, and on other long distance journeys such as intercity or international bus lines.
The goal of this study was to find out level of passengers’ satisfaction in coach travel
in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and what is most important for passengers when they use
coach travel services - is it price, speed, safety, comfort, or something else.
Study was performed on perception of university students in Sarajevo, because they are
representative sample of passengers’ population in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Focus of
the study was on “on board experience”, which is actually experience of passengers
while they are inside of the vehicle. Research clearly indicated what aspects of coach
travel are most important for passengers, and also suggested some proposals that can
make coach travel more competitive and attractive
FORMATION OF A HIGHER EDUCATION ORGANIZATION IDENTITY BETWEEN IMAGINATIONS AND STANDARDS: THE CASE OF TURKISH UNIVERSITIES SYSTEM
Abstract: Nowadays universities on the one hand try to survive and handle to their
managerial system on the other hand cope with constrains from their institutional
environment. The constrains are multilateral and including organizational demands,
increasing competition in the market, national and international standardization
however which are comprise of responding to demands of the students who are grown
up in the technological era. Hence, universities are increasingly facing a double-sided
pressure: to be innovative with a specific organizational duty while at the same time
being an embedded part of a growing, and highly interconnected, internationalized
and standardized higher education ‘industry’. This dilemma has both theoretical and
practical interest, and is explored in this paper through an empirical study of how one
university has dealt with these challenges of innovation and standardization.
In this paper it is investigated that the processes involved in forming an organizational
identity, which it is studied during the founding of a distinctive new college by using an
interpretive, insider-outsider research approach. It aimed that to identify elements that
constitute the identity. It is considered a dilemma that imaginations and innovations
attitudes of entrepreneurs of university such as struggles to be innovative and
authentic on the other hand centralized structure of state, national and international
standardizations and especially idiosyncratic context of Turkey. By studying a Turkish
foundation university from its establishment in 2007 to present, and by extensive
triangulation of more qualitative studies on this university in this period, the paper
concludes that higher education institutions may handle this dilemma by relating it to
the continuous struggle for organizational identity. As methodologically has done per

Role of the State in Financial Sector Development and Achieving Pro-Poor Growth: Evidence from Bosnia and Herzegovina
This paper provides theoretical background and empirical research on state’s role in financial sector development, focusing on state’s role in achieving pro-poor economic growth through its activities in development of the financial sector.
To this end, in the theoretical part of the paper it is explained that pro-poor growth depends on the strong private sector, while at the same time private sector development is dependent on the degree of financial sector development. Defining pro-poor growth as a set of policies aiming to reduce poverty, it is argued that pro-poor growth is dependent on financial sector development both, directly and indirectly. Financial sector development contributes to poverty reduction directly through improvement of the access to financial products/services to the poor, and indirectly through private sector’s better access to financial sources which as a consequence impacts the overall economic growth of the country. By analyzing theoretical approaches, it is shown that government policies and actions in financial sector development might positively impact private sector development, and therefore (indirectly and directly) contributes to pro-poor growth.
The empirical part of the paper discusses the role of the state in financial sector development and its contribution to economic growth and poverty reduction in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), arguing that this growth needs to be pro-poor oriented as BIH is the poorest country in Europe. In order to assess state’s role in financial sector development and its implication to pro-poor growth in BIH, surveys among small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and government representatives were conducted. The aim of the surveys was to analyze the perceptions of private sector participants and of government institution employees perceptions about the government role in development of the financial sector oriented to SMEs.
The research shows significant disagreement between the two surveyed groups about the efforts currently being implemented by BIH government in supporting the private sector through financial sector development. It is concluded that government needs to work more closely with the private sector as well as with the financial sector so as to better identify the private sector needs and then create policies and take actions necessary for the private sector to develop, which would consequently lead to poverty reduction
ANTONYMY AS BINARY CONSTRUAL IN CONCEPTUAL SPACE
This article is based on empirical investigation of intrasentential antonym functions in Serbian
written discourse, which suggests that phrasal contexts in which antonyms co-occur are relatively stable and
that at least some of the most frequent ones can be viewed as potential triggers of contrast relation in
discourse. Starting from the notion of antonymous framework, a formulaic structure in which certain
grammatical and content words systematically house both members of an antonymous pair, the article
addresses the issue of whether some of the most frequent frameworks can be viewed as potential triggers of
contrast relation in discourse and seeks to explain the non-canonical instances of binary semantic contrast
generated in those contexts within the framework of Cognitive Semantics. The paper also attempts to
explain how this contributes to our understanding of the nature of the category of antonymy in language.
Theoretical framework adopted is that of Cognitive Semantics in which antonymy as a Gestalt is an instance
of a bisected domain and the resulting interpretation is shaped by the construal of comparison and the
profiling of a specific dimension. Examples of binary semantic contrast analyzed in the article fulfill the
requirements for antonym construal: they are aligned along the same meaning dimension within a domain
in which they are compared and construed as denoting contrasting concepts. Conclusions provide support
to the treatment of antonymy as a conceptual relation and a linguistic category exhibiting prototypicality
effects
Classroom Group Works Under Scrutiny: A Case Study at International Burch University
In the last couple of decades in contemporary societies, educators and educational institutions have required their students to participate actively and devotedly in their educational process in order to prepare them for the future employment which almost always includes team work and cooperation, Besides, methods that include students’ cooperation and collaboration within group learning have been used increasingly in all levels of teaching and in all subjects. The present study attempts to provide an insight into students’ perspectives on these issues in the international and multicultural environment of International Burch University. Students were given the opportunity to express their own opinions through the interviews evaluated by taking into consideration key elements of cooperative learning situations. The researchers have aimed to indicate possible shortcomings in the implementation of group work methods applied in practice and to attract students’ attention to their importance by offering possible solutions for their overcoming
Theoretical review of the inclusive approach of the learning difficulties in the ESL classroom in Bosnia and Herzegovina
Learning difficulties (LDs) refer to a range of complex and often misunderstood neurological-based processing challenges. In most cases, these processing cause challenges to the acquisition of basic skills such as reading, writing and math. Different teaching methods may need to be applied to compensate for the specific aspects of learning that children find challenging to a process of learning. In most ESL classrooms, there are no qualified special needs teachers or teachers who are trained to work with students with learning difficulties. Even if there are, only a few teachers are trained on how to deal with learning disabilities in an ESL classroom and there is very little information on the subject. This paper will introduce the research concerning the difficulties and the education in the inclusive system among the teachers in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
