Vertical Transfer Students: Experiences with Orientation Programs and Transition
Community college students are a growing student population in the United States, however their transition to four-year institutions remains complex and students face different challenges. This study explores the student’s orientation and transition experiences. While academic integration was generally positively supported by articulation agreements, personalized academic advising, and family support many transfer students reported difficulties with social integration, impacting their sense of belonging. The findings suggest that successful transfer requires three stages of support as pre-transfer planning; orientation and initial transition; and continued personalized support throughout the first semester. Recommendations include stronger partnerships between institutions, more individualized advising, and ongoing engagement during and beyond orientation to foster a smoother adjustment and long-term success
Construct Validity of the Cognitive Assessment System- 2nd Edition: Rating Scale: Comparisons with the Learning Behaviors Scale
Cognitive assessment instruments, such as the Cognitive Assessment System Second Edition: Rating Scale (CAS2: Rating Scale), are frequently utilized by school psychologists to assess children’s cognitive abilities and psychopathology. However, the CAS2 and the CAS2: Rating Scale have little research regarding their psychometric properties. The present thesis examined the construct validity of the CAS2: Rating Scale in comparison to the Learning Behaviors Scale (LBS). Canivez and Gaboury (2013), while assessing the construct validity of the CAS, found that for the ADHD group, the LBS Attitude Toward Learning, Attention/Persistence, and Strategy/Flexibility scores and the CAS Planning and Attention scores were significantly lower than for the control group with large effect sizes. It was thus hypothesized that the CAS2: Rating Scale Attention and Planning scales may be related to the LBS Attention/Persistence and Strategy/Flexibility scales, respectively. The present study compared the CAS2: Rating Scale and LBS ratings completed by 55 teacher volunteers on children ages 5 to 17 years (n = 95). The current study produced mixed results. A large, positive correlation coefficient between CAS2: Rating Scale Attention and LBS Attention/Persistence scales was significantly larger than the other correlation coefficients, supporting convergent and discriminant validity. However, only a slight to moderate, positive correlation coefficient was found between CAS2: Rating Scale Planning and LBS Strategy/Flexibility scales that was significantly lower than the discriminant correlation coefficients, not supporting convergent or discriminant validity. Future research should replicate this study with a larger and more representative sample to increase generalizability and compare the CAS2: Rating Scale with other teacher-report measures

How can the adoption of biodegradable packaging in the beverage industry specifically contribute to reducing single-use plastic waste, and what regulatory or cost-related challenges hinder its widespread implementation in developing countries?
This research investigates the potential of biodegradable packaging to reduce single-use plastic waste in the beverage industry and explores the regulatory and cost-related barriers to its adoption in developing countries. The beverage sector is a major contributor to global plastic pollution, and biodegradable alternatives offer a promising path toward sustainability. Using a mixed-methods approach, this study combines qualitative interviews with industry experts and case studies of businesses implementing biodegradable solutions, alongside quantitative survey data from 100 manufacturers and 200 consumers across Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Findings reveal that while biodegradable packaging significantly reduces plastic waste and appeals to environmentally conscious consumers, its adoption in developing countries is hindered by high production costs, insufficient regulatory frameworks, limited infrastructure, and low consumer awareness. Despite these challenges, increasing global sustainability trends and consumer demand present opportunities for broader implementation. The study concludes that policy reforms, financial incentives, and international cooperation are critical to accelerating the transition toward sustainable packaging solutions in the global beverage industry
