Lesson learned in big data for dairy cattle: advanced analytics for heat stress detection
This report provides an overview of the strategies for data management and data analysis developed within the EU project EIT Food DairySust “Big data and advanced analytics for sustainable management of the dairy cattle sector”. The main ambition of this project is to improve sustainability and animal welfare, besides productivity, in dairy farming, through advanced data analytics for every level of stakeholders. Good data management, in terms of acquisition, processing, harmonization and imputation, is required for good modelling for early diagnosis and for the identification of optimal prevention strategies, particularly in fields where monitoring can collect very heterogeneous data, and for which agreed protocols have not yet been standardized. The project investigated the “ecosystem” of data and application strategies for sharing computer resources and information in a secure and organic manner. This research first developed an optimal computational ecosystem based on the integration and harmonization of heterogeneous data types. Classical and advanced modelling strategies were used and compared. The results are suitable to provide the stakeholders with improved decision-making process about animal welfare and sustainability of the production.
This report focuses on the implementation of a numerical model for the assessment of the impact of heat stress on milk production and provides a feedback on it
Consumption Response Heterogeneity and Dynamics with an Inattention Region
A theory in which the timing of consumer expectation adjustments is endogenously state-dependent and stochastic is proposed. These expectation adjustments generate highly heterogenous consumption responses to income windfalls: many households do not respond, those who do over-react, the marginal propensity to consume depends on windfall size and is asymmetric. We document these features in the Bank of England survey of consumers and find that they simultaneously rule out most previous explanations for these effects, including consumption adjustment cost and liquidity constraints. At the aggregate level, consumption is less sensitive to expansionary policies during recessions and its excess smoothness varies significantly over the business cycle with consumers’ attention, a feature that we document in US data
Brief Introduction to the volum
Un caso di “traduzione estrema”: il palindromo
A CASE OF “EXTREME TRANSLATION”: THE PALINDROME • This article opens with a brief overview of the form and meaning of the palindrome in literature,
mathematics and biology. It then focuses on the revival of the palindrome by the Futurist poet
Chlebnikov, who in 1912 composed a short poem consisting of palindromes and who later wrote a
long poem entirely in palindromic verses devoted to the legendary historical figure of Stenka Razin.
The palindrome is a rhetorical device that means more than a mere verbal game in Chlebnikov’s
poetics. It reflects his conception of the word as a magic and cosmogonic power which can
transform and recreate the world. The palindrome is also a figure suitable for the expression
of a time of troubles and revolutions. In the article I discuss the problem of the translation of
the palindrome as a type of “extreme” translation (Nasi 2015). In particular two translations
of Chlebnikov’s first palindromic poem Pereverten’ are analysed. Kern (1976) approaches the
palindrome translating into English the semantics of the single words and ignoring its palindromic
structure. The second instance is Oskar Pastior’s translation into German, who decides
to “translate” the device itself of the palindrome. This is an exampe of “extreme” translation.
Pastior re-writes the text à la Chlebnikov, trying to be consist with the underlying semantics and
themes of the original text

Hopelessness and Burnout in Italian healthcare workers during Pandemic: the mediating role of emotional intelligence
Objective: The study aims to assess the impact of COVID-19 on healthcare workers’ work-related stress during the first wave of the pandemic in Italy.
The main objective is to investigate the existence of a positive correlation between hopelessness and burnout, assuming that burnout may be a risk factor for the development of hopelessness, and to analyze the role that
trait Emotional Intelligence (TEI) and changes in workload could have in this relationship. Furthermore, evaluate any significant differences in burnout and hopelessness levels in the function of some demographic variables,
such as gender, professional profiles, and different working zones of Italy, to better understand how the diverse diffusion of pandemic had affected Italian healthcare workers.
Methods: An online survey was used to collect data between April and June, 2020, with 562 responses among nurses (52.1%) and physicians (47.9%). Demographics and changes in workload and work conditions were collected through an ad hoc questionnaire. The Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire- Short Form (TEIQue-SF), The Beck Hopelessness Scale (BHS), and the Link Burnout Questionnaire (LBQ) were used to assess Trait Emotional Intelligence (TEI), hopelessness, and burnout, respectively.
Results: Correlation analysis showed a significant positive relationship between hopelessness and each burnout dimension. TEI showed negative correlations
both with burnout dimensions and hopelessness. Significant differences in burnout and hopelessness levels emerged as a function of some demographic variables such as gender, professional profiles (nurses or physicians), and different
working zone of Italy (northern or southern). Results showed that TEI partially mediated the relationship between hopelessness and every burnout dimension, while the interaction of changes in workload was non-significant.
Discussion: The mediating role of TEI in the burnout-hopelessness relationship partly explains the protective role that individual factors had on healthcare
workers’ mental health. Our findings support the need to integrate considerations on both psychological risk and protective factors into COVID-19 care, including the monitoring of psychological symptoms and social needs, especially among healthcare workers
CONSOLE Project - Deliverable 3.2 - "Farmers and stakeholders opinions on implementation of suggested contract solutions based on survey results"
The Deliverable D3.2 is organised as follows: after the introductory summary of the CONSOLE Project tasks which are related to the present document (section 1), two distinct sections present and discuss the results from the land managers survey (section 2) and the stakeholders survey (section 4). Both these sections present the data collection procedures that have been adopted, by showing and discussing the results from the whole sample of respondents as well as the relevant insights from specific groups, also presenting few insights from the country-specific case studies (sub-section 2.4). The discussion of the results related to the acceptability of the contract solutions by the land managers and forest holders is structured in sub-section 2.5. Section 3 presents the additional work done by each partner in relation to Task 3.2 objectives, beyond the common questionnaire for land managers and forest holders and its related analysis (e.g., the Choice Experiments conducted by some partners and/or the additional questions targeting the peculiarities of the national case studies). Section 5 hosts the document references. Annexes related to both the land managers survey and the stakeholders one are attached at the end of the present document

The data registered show the forces and torque along the built-in robot force sensors
