Law, Technology and Labour
This book is a collection of the papers presented at the two-day Conference “Law, Technology and Labour”, held in Bertinoro (Forlì) on 30 June – 1 July 2022, organized by the University of Bologna, in collaboration with the Curtin University Law School (Perth, Australia), within the framework of the Jean Monnet module “EU law for Algorithm”. The conference before and now the book aim at contributing to the International and European debate on the impact of algorithms and automation on working conditions from a legal perspective
Phantomless calibration dataset
The phantomless calibration dataset comprises data from 41 postmenopausal subjects, including 34 subjects selected from the previously published HFValid cohort (https://doi.org/10.6092/unibo/amsacta/7277). This dataset includes detailed CT scan information and calibration coefficients for both phantom-based and phantomless calibration methods.
Additionally, the dataset provides a custom Matlab script (compatible with release R2022b, The Mathworks Inc) designed to calculate the slope and intercept required for CT calibration. This script utilizes air, adipose, and muscle tissues in the phantomless calibration process
Letteratura e altri mondi.
The VOLATILE4ARCHAEO project: A technical report for conservators
The project VOLATILE4ARCHAEO (Investigation of Volatile Binding Media in Temporary Consolidation of archaeological materials) was funded by the European Commission within the call H2020-MSCA-IF-2020 of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (Grant Agreement n. 101031224) (https://cordis.europa.eu/project/id/101031224). Volatile binding media (VBM) are used to protect fragile heritage materials during transport or other high-risk operations. Cyclododecane (CDD) is currently the most used temporary consolidant. Still, this material exhibits some limitations, such as its possible toxicity for humans and the environment, its low flashpoint posing inflammation risks, and the fact that it provides a single sublimation rate, which makes it not suitable for all the climates and applications. The EU-funded VOLATILE4ARCHAEO project investigated alternative VBM, alone and mixed with CDD. Sublimation rate, interaction and compatibility with various substrates, and presence of residues were tested. The project provided several options for variable-term consolidation with VBM and experimental data on their performance, including testing on real historical objects. This technical report constitutes an overview of the results for conservators
[Art as the inspiration of the limit for the jurist]. Law, above all criminal law, needs limits and art, above all that which deals directly with law (but perhaps it would be better to say with justice), through its unveiling force through contemplation educates to the awareness and sensitivity of this need for limit, helping to forge the ethics of jurists
IPAN - Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Anorexia Nervosa: Book of Abstracts
This book collects 17 contributions by scholars and experts interested in the study of anorexia nervosa (AN) and eating disorders (ED) in different research fields (among others, Linguistics, Psychology, and Neuropsychiatry). All the contributions will be presented at the upcoming IPAN (Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Anorexia Nervosa) conference, a one-day event that will be hosted in Bologna on May 26, 2023, by the Department of Classical Philology and Italian Study - University of Bologna (Italy), in collaboration with RaAM (Association for Researching and Applying Metaphors). The conference aims at fostering multidisciplinary exchange about research on AN and, more in general, on ED. With this volume we want to mash up ideas and research methods of experts, scholars, and students from different theoretical and experimental backgrounds, this way providing an environment for dialogue and integration
And suddenly, the rain! How surprises shape experienced utility
The utility associated with a service’s consumption is contingent on its intrinsic characteristics and various situational factors. One key element that influences consumer satisfaction is adherence to prior expectations. This is particularly relevant for experience goods that highly depend on external factors, such as weather. On these premises, the current study explores the role of
expectations on utility by analyzing the effect of weather surprises (i.e., the mismatch between forecast and realized weather) on online ratings. Results from the analysis of over 300,000 reviews posted on Booking.com indicate that weather surprises have an impact on the reported experienced utility, the effect depending on the sign of the surprise. Moreover, the consumption span moderates the surprise effect, thereby mitigating the impact of both positive and negative surprises on utility
REMODEL. WP4. Vision-based Perception. T4_3. Cable Detection and Tracking. Reconstructing and Tracking Deformable Linear Objects. v0
The dataset contains the source code utilized for the experimental validation of the 3D deformable linear objects shape reconstruction and tracking system. The developed approach is called DLO3DS.
The developed procedure is based on a pipeline that first processes the images coming from the 2D camera extracting key topological points along the DLOs. These points are then used to model each DLO with a B-spline curve. Finally, the set of splines obtained from all the images is matched by exploiting a multi-view stereo-based algorithm. The associated publication is the following:
