Get PDF[Odonomastics: masculine singular noun] Although odonomastics (crasis of two ancient Greek words ὁδός-hodós: street, road, path, way, and ὄνυμα- ónyma: name) is a feminine noun, in its practical declension, i.e. in its plastic representation in urban realities, it is predominantly (if not exclusively) masculine. The names of urban areas correspond to and give voice to two needs: the most obvious, pragmatic and objective, is orientation; the other, which, although pregnant, remains in filigree, as an ideological and subjective component, it satisfies the need for identification and information of the human community living in that territory, on the basis of historical, cultural, political and social (over)positions. Just as the failure to satisfy the first need leads to getting lost in urban routes (physical aspect), the insufficiency or inadequacy of the second implies a disorientation of identity due to the lack of reference paradigms (psychological aspect). The aim of this paper is to try to account for female (in)visibility in urban toponyms from a quantitative-qualitative point of view, reconstructing it at the same time from a de lege lata perspective, of the domestic legislation in force, and de lege ferenda, in the light of links with precepts of international law

Get PDFTHE TRANSLATOR AS A REPORTER. JAROSŁAW MIKOŁAJEWSKI (RE)TRANSLATES DANTE INTO POLISH. This paper aims to discuss the recent Polish translation of the "Divine Comedy", published in 2021 by the Cracovian Wydawnictwo Literackie, and carried out by Jarosław Mikołajewski – poet, writer, reporter, and translator of Italian Literature into Polish. The first part of the essay is devoted to a comparison of the main features of Mikołajewski’s translation with the previous Polish versions of the Dante’s poem. This analysis of Mikołajewski’s translation strategy enables a theoretical reflection on the figure of the translator-reporter, here investigated with reference to different concepts of Translation Theory, such as “translation series” (Balcerzan 2009a), “translator’s visibility” (Venuti 1999), “foreignization” and “domestication” (Venuti 1999), “the experience of the foreign” (Berman 1997), “the translator as the second author” (Legeżyńska 1999), “the translator-legislator” and “the translator-ambassador” (Jarniewicz 2002), and the “translator as a medium” (Marinelli 2013)
Addictive Consumption, Imperfect Substitutes and Self Control: A Model and an Application to Slot Machines
Get PDFWe propose a model of addictive consumption to study the demand for imperfect substitutes involving substances like alcohol, nicotine and opioids, as well as behavioral addictions like gambling and digital addiction. We study a 2017 Italian policy aimed at reducing gambling by limiting the number of available slot machines. Despite the reduction in slot machines, the policy produced an unintended 25% increase in net expenditure, particularly among low-wealth and low-educated individuals who also engage in other addictive behaviors. This result can be rationalized as the consequence of changes in self-control costs due to social contagion effects
BoFiSi. A fast C++ program for the simulation of bore fields
Get PDFBoFiSi (Bore Field Simulator) is a C++ program that can simulate the thermal response any field of Borehole Heat Exchangers (BHEs) having the same length, fed in parallel with an equal inlet fluid temperature, and buried at the same depth in a homogeneous ground. It is based on the semi-analytical model illustrated in arXiv:2412.07557 [physics.app-ph], which is a conceptually simpler and equally precise alternative to the excellent model proposed by Massimo Cimmino (Int J Heat Mass Tran 91, 2015). The program computes both the g-function of a bore field, namely the time evolution of the mean temperature of the external surface of the BHEs, and the fluid-to-ground function (ftg-function), namely the time evolution of the mean temperature of the fluid inside the BHEs

In the present study we pay particular attention to certain key paratexts in collections of Whitman’s verse in translations of Kornei Chukovskii, focusing in particular on the collection which Khlebnikov (according to one eyewitness) kept in his possession in 1921–1922, to determine how the paratexts of that edition might have influenced his reception of the American bard

No full textThe present dataset includes data generated as part of the ECLectic project, focusing on the extension of the electrochemiluminescence (ECL) emitting layer on microstructured electrodes that interact differently with the coreactant. In particular, the ECL emission of [Ru(bpy)3]2+ in a phopsphate buffer (PB) solution with tri-n-propylamine (TPrA) was studied on glassy carbon (GC) and gold (Au) microelectrodes arrays with different geometries (GC-30, GC-15, Au-30, Au-15). Through microscopic imaging of the ECL emission on the surface of single microelectrodes, this dataset provides interesting mechanistic insight about the possibility to tune the Ru(II)/TPrA reaction mechanism

The debate revolved around what it means to perform research responsibly and whether the reproducibility of results can be used as a reliable proxy for research quality.
The second of the two roundtables gathered the perspectives of 6 researchers at the University of Bologna and was moderated by prof. Carlo Miniussi of the University of Trento, President of the Italian Reproducibility Network. Each researcher presented a case study and then answered one of the three questions posed by the moderator.

Sustainable Fertilizer from slaughterhouse digested sludge
No full textThis dataset contains data related to the evaluation of the fertilizing potential of a dried anaerobic digestate produced from slaughterhouse residues, generated in the framework of the “Sustainable fertilizers” EIT FOOD project. The fertilizing potential was assessed through a short-term (42 days) soil incubation experiment using two different soils, Clay-Loam cambisol soil (CC) and Fulvic cambisol soil (FC). The effect of the dried anaerobic digestate (DD) application was compared with other fertilizers: i) diammonium phosphate (MIN); ii) digested manure (DM); iii) cattle manure (CM), and a negative control as unfertilized soil (CTR). Each fertilizer was added to each soil in a dose of 100 mgN/kg of dry soil. During the incubation period, ammonium-nitrogen, nitrate/nitrite-nitrogen and phosphorus release were monitored. At the end of the incubation, biochemical (extractable carbon and nitrogen, microbial biomass carbon, enzyme activities) and chemical (pH, electric conductivity, exchangeable Mg, K and Ca) were assessed. Moreover, community level physiological profiling (CLPP) analysis was performed through Biolog® with ECO-plates
