Tra agricoltura, edilizia rurale e ingegneria: note sulla figura di Dino Zucchini
Get PDFLa figura di Dino Zucchini (Bologna 1881–1946) risulta di notevole interesse storiografico: ingegnere, a lungo docente all’Università di Bologna, ricopre anche dal 1931 al 1934 la carica di presidente della Società agraria bolognese, una importante istituzione scientifica fondata in epoca napoleonica. Dopo la trasformazione della Società in Accademia di Agricoltura (oggi Accademia nazionale di Agricoltura), Zucchini ne diviene vice-presidente, rimanendo in questa carica dal 1938 fino alla propria scomparsa, avvenuta nel gennaio 1946.
In questo contributo gli autori tratteggiano, nel rispetto delle proprie competenze disciplinari, alcuni aspetti dell’attività scientifica di Dino Zucchini, all’interno e all’esterno dell’ateneo bolognese, ricordandone altresì il costante interesse verso i temi dell’edilizia rurale: un interesse che si traduce anche nelle indagini svolte – sotto l’egida dell’Istituto nazionale di Economia agraria (INEA) – sulle costruzioni rurali di importanti aree dell’Italia settentrionale.
In appendice al presente lavoro, corredato da un apparato iconografico, sono presenti la parziale ripresa di un intervento dello stesso Zucchini e la riproposizione di un testo di Alessandro Ghigi dedicato alla figura dell'ingegnere bolognese
Dataset of the paper "A single-surface multi-failure strength domain for masonry"
No full textThis dataset, developed in the framework of the H2020 HOLAHERIS project, contains code and results related to a single-surface multi-failure strength domain formulation for masonry. This formulation represents a straightforward method for establishing a unified strength domain to analyze the in-plane behavior of masonry structures. The method lays the groundwork for developing homogeneous continuum models and relies on micro-mechanical analyses using a block-based model for masonry. In this model, blocks are treated as finite strength continuum bodies interacting through zero-thickness interfaces. The strength domain is derived by identifying three failure mechanisms: crushing failure, joint failure, and mixed joint-block failure. Each mechanism's limit surface is determined based on limit equilibrium principles, with a novel rational treatment for mixed mechanisms. These limit surfaces are intersected to create a multi-surface strength domain, which is then simplified into a single-surface using the RealSoftMax function, preserving the explicit distinction between all failure mechanisms. The resulting strength domain inherits material parameters from the block-based model. Generated strength domains are also collected herein, together with their comparison with state-of-the-art approaches

No full textThe dataset is related to the Horizon 2020 Una.Resin project Work Package 2, co-creation workshop on Research Infrastructures and Resources – RIRs (Task 2.4).
The workshop “From mapping to co-creation: Towards a Una Europa Strategy and Action plan for sharing RIRs” was held online on the 23rd of June 2022. The aim was to collect inputs and insights from the RIRs experts and academic communities from all the Una Europa universities to develop the strategy and action plan for sharing RIRs across the universities of the Alliance. The workshop was divided into two parts: (i) Presentations session; (ii) Co-creation exercise. The first part was dedicated to the presentations of two relevant RIRs from the Cultural Heritage and the One Health field and the presentation of key results from the WP2 mapping exercise. The second session was dedicated to an in-depth discussion organized in breakout rooms and involving 6 participants (3 from the field of Cultural Heritage and 3 from the field of One Health) from each partner university: University of Edinburgh (UEDIN), University of Helsinki (UH), University of Bologna (UNIBO), Complutense University of Madrid (UCM), Freie Universität Berlin (FUB), Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KU Leuven), Jagiellonian University (JU), Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne (UP1).
A total of 87 people participated in the Presentations session, out of which 62 took part in the Co-creation exercise. During the Co-creation exercise, the results of the mapping exercises were used as driver to stimulate the discussions. In particular, four topics were proposed for the discussion: (i) relevant principles for opening and sharing RIRs across universities; (ii) funding opportunities to stimulate interuniversity cooperation around RIRs; (iii) strengthening skills and knowledge related to RIRs management; (iv) overcoming other barriers to share RIRs. The inputs emerging from the mapping exercises and collected during the co-creation workshop were used by WP2 team as a basis to draft the pillars of the Una Europa strategy and action plan for sharing RIRs and finalize the conceptual framework for WP2 pilot actions on RIRs

No full textThis data set contains the underlying data of the scientific publication: Casadei et al., 2024. Valorization of monovarietal Nostrana di Brisighella extra virgin olive oils: focus on bioactive compounds. This publication will soon be submitted to a scientific journal.
The study focuses on different agronomic variables in order to optimize the presence of bioactive components of monovarietal Nostrana di Brisighella extra virgin olive oils. In fact, fruits were obtained through integrated pest management or organic farming and picked at four increasing indices of maturity, corresponding to four successive weeks of harvesting, namely positive volatile and phenolic compounds. Especially the latter allow health claims of olive oil related to phenolic content (derivatives of hydroxytyrosol and tyrosol) and positive sensory attributes (fruity, bitter, and punget) that are known to be associated with volatile and phenolic molecules.

Dissonant Heritage: Concepts, Critiques, Cases
Get PDFThis volume is the outcome of the Una Europa PhD Workshop “Dissonant Heritage: Concepts, Critiques, Cases,” which took place simultaneously at the Alma Mater Studiorum - University of Bologna and at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków in November 2021. The book explores dissonant heritage in relation to three primary cross-cutting themes: (1) unveiling the dissonance of scientific museums and collections, (2) designing the social sustainability of dissonant heritage, and (3) examining the role of art in addressing dissonance. As evidenced by the essays gathered in this book, eradicating dissonance from our pasts and presents can prove to be an insurmountable task. We can remove statues, abandon buildings, forget paintings, but the painful past will endure.
Consequently, dissonant heritage necessitates interpretation that acknowledges the negative emotions experienced by those who lived the dissonance. At the same time, we must remember that narratives of dissonant heritage can be politically manipulated and may fuel revisionist, negationist tendencies. In order to mitigate these risks, interpretation must both expose the propaganda hidden within certain forms of dissonant heritage and uncover the ways in which art can be (ab)used in order to create illusory consensus or even to bolster anti-democratic, supremacist ideologies. In essence, dissonant heritage offers an invaluable opportunity for modern societies to reflect on their values and on their strategies to promote and defend them in a changing and globalized world

Check List delle Briofite della Toscana. Seconda edizione
Get PDFLa seconda edizione della Check List delle Briofite della Toscana, pubblicata in contemporanea alla quarta edizione della Check List delle Briofite dell’Emilia-Romagna, fornisce un quadro aggiornato sulla consistenza e distribuzione delle Briofite nella regione. Relativamente al territorio appenninico di confine, sono infatti stati risolti molti dubbi riguardanti numerose segnalazioni di incerta assegnazione all’una o all’altra delle due regioni.
Seguendo lo stesso approccio metodologico adottato nelle precedenti check list, è stato realizzato un database di quasi 22.000 record, utilizzando dati bibliografici e di erbario, in cui sono indicate le località di rinvenimento delle specie, suddivise per provincia. Allo stato attuale delle conoscenze in nostro possesso, risultano presenti in Toscana 746 taxa di briofite, di cui 184 antocerote ed epatiche e 562 muschi. Completano il lavoro una tabella di sintesi della distribuzione dei taxa nelle diverse province, l’elenco dei sinonimi così come compaiono nelle pubblicazioni consultate, ed una esauriente bibliografia di tutte le opere riguardanti ricerche e segnalazioni a carattere briologico condotte nella regione
