[Urban creativity and law in a national and international perspective] This analysis of the complex relationship between urban creativity and law provides a comprehensive overview of a topic of great artistic and legal relevance. As an expressive form born and primarily developed in public spaces, urban creativity raises legal issues that often escape clear and defined regulation. The lack of specific legislation governing and protecting it as an art form leads to contradictions in legal actions taken against urban artists. In the first part of the article, a historical and artistic introduction to urban creativity is provided, exploring its origins, its protagonists, and the wide range of styles and techniques that characterize it. It is crucial to understand that urban creativity emerged as a form of expression intended for public spaces, and the occupation of such spaces constitutes a distinctive element of its nature. In the second part, the legal implications of urban creativity are addressed, examining the branches of law that could be involved in reflecting on this topic: constitutional law, criminal law, and civil law. In particular, the discipline of copyright law is analyzed at the international and national levels as the main means of protection available to urban artists. Finally, three emblematic cases are examined in the third part, illustrating the legal challenges and different dynamics that characterize the relationship between urban creativity and law. These cases include the legal saga of 5Pointz in New York, Banksy’s painting in Venice, and the mural dedicated to Ugo Russo in Naples, thus offering a comprehensive overview of the legal and artistic complexities that characterize this field

Giovanni Capellini (La Spezia, 23 August 1833 - Bologna, 28 May 1922) is recognized as one of the Italian founders of the modern geological sciences. Professor of Geology at the University of Bologna, his innate qualities as manager and coordinator were combined with a penchant to overcome a provincial vision of scientific problems. During his life, he gave the Bologna Geological Institute an international organization and also relaunched the whole University that was being built at the end of the 19th Century with a keen eye on worldwide relationships among scholars. During his intense academic life, he also dealt with petroleum geology, a field still in its infancy at the time. Capellini was engaged in this activity as an academic consultant on behalf of domestic and foreign oil companies.
A recent survey of the archival sources of the Geological Collection “Giovanni Capellini Museum” of the University of Bologna, confirmed the existence of a manuscript, the travelogue of Capellini’s journeys to Wallachia, two field trips that he organized in 1864 and 1865 as a consultant to a London oil company. In fact, Wallachia, together with Italy, was the European region where hydrocarbons exploration developed the most, immediately after the North American oil boom of 1859. This travelogue was never published or transcribed, and so the centenary of Capellini’s death (2022), celebrated in Bologna and in La Spezia, was the opportunity for me to bring this document back to light: in fact, the complete transcription of the manuscript is attached at the end of the paper. The travelogue contains stratigraphic sketches, geographical and geomorphological considerations, and various drafts of geological sections, i.e., the typical contents of the surveyor geologist field notebook, nonetheless it is also structured as an agenda of daily notes, a sort of travel diary, albeit minimal in its narrative structure. More important, it offers a first-hand account of the multifaceted activity of a young researcher and scientist already fully integrated into the European cultural milieu

On October 9, 2024, the University of Bologna held an international event titled: “Back to fundamentals of research: Interdisciplinarity”. The event featured distinguished speakers and experts from national and international institutions who shared their insights on interdisciplinary research and recommendations on how to foster this approach. Through this position paper, the University of Bologna intends to highlight the key messages that emerged from the discussions and point out the challenges and recommendations to create a more supportive environment for interdisciplinary research
Color and Physicochemical Profile of Concentrated and Low-Alcohol White Wines produced by different membranes
This dataset highlights the impact of wine concentration and ethanol removal on the color and physicochemical profile of white wine (Sancrispino). Low-alcohol wine was produced using three nanofiltration membranes (TS 40, NF99, HL) and one reverse osmosis membrane (RO-SE). The experiments were conducted at a pressure of 20 bar and a temperature of 21 ± 1 °C, with processing carried out until a volume reduction factor of 4 was achieved. Each membrane had a distinct effect on the wine's color and physicochemical characteristics, offering valuable insights into the compositional changes in white wine induced by the ethanol removal process

Mitochondrial Chaperonin MCJ Promotes Vulnerability to Ferroptosis of Chemoresistant Ovarian Cancer Cells – Dataset
MCJ is a mitochondrial Tim23-related co-chaperonin known for its role in regulating oxidative phosphorylation efficiency, oxidative stress response and lipid metabolism. Recently, it has been proposed that the loss of MCJ correlates with cisplatin (CDDP)-resistance onset in ovarian cancer (OC), suggesting this protein as a potential prognostic factor during OC progression. However, the molecular mechanisms through which MCJ contributes to CDDP response remains poorly investigated. The present dataset collect data regarding the association between MCJ levels and accumulation of lipid droplets, tumorigenic features and sensitivity to CDDP in OC cells. Moreover, this dataset provides information on lipid peroxidation and ferroptosis induction in cells overexpressing MCJ, in presence or absence of Ferrostatin 1
[The Promised City: A Space of Freedom, Equality and Integration.] In recent decades, many European cities have witnessed a progressive emptying of urban public space, and in particular of its function as a space for the expression of diversity. This process is fuelled by several factors, including policies of privatisation of public space, the emergence of new forms of exclusion from public space, and the criminalisation of uses deemed “inappropriate” for public space. Surprisingly, legal doctrine has paid little attention to the proliferation of regulations of urban space that interfere with the exercise of fundamental rights, especially those of the most vulnerable. This article aims to provide my initial thoughts on the topic based on some recent judgments of the European Court of Human Rights
