Vite in cerca di politiche. La narrazione biografica e autobiografica come risorsa e come metodo di un discorso sulla città
[Lifes in search of politics. Biographical and autobiographical narrative as a resource and as a method of a discourse on the city] This paper proposes a reflection on the theme of the "right to the city" which recovers the value framework of social democracy inscribed in the Italian Constitution of 1948. To do this, a peculiar visual angle is used, which is the one which valorises the experience in a political sense, starting from biographical and autobiographical literature, with particular reference to that of urban planners. The observation point of view of the latter, when detached from the scientific nature of academic writings and entrusted to the more personal gaze of one's own experience and one's relationship with the city, opens up interpretations of great interest for the questions that a sustainable and reasonable government policy of the territories must be asked today. A particular focus is dedicated to the biographical and autobiographical writings of Enzo Scandurra, a highly sensitive urban planner who very effectively chose to combine the narrative of lives and places with the scientific one

1950s textbooks for EFL teaching and learning in Italy: A historiographical analysis
This paper is a case study focusing on a corpus of textbooks of English for Italian learners published in 1952, retrieved from the online Catalogo Nazionale OPAC SBN (https://opac.sbn.it) and consulted at the archives of major Italian public libraries. The texts were examined on the
basis of their structure, contents, purpose and teaching approach, with the aim of identifying distinctive generic features and proposing an initial classification. They represent variations of the same genre, catering to
pedagogical purposes and encompassing different content derived from didactic materials that were employed both before and during the fascist era, as well as newly devised resources. The historiographical textual analysis provides some insights into post-fascist educational policies. Furthermore, it uncovers the texts’ glottodidactic methods and approaches which originated from Britain and North America and triggered profound changes in the history of language teaching

[The space of prison punishment between reality and cinematic representation] The space of the prison punishment is a central element in understanding the prison as a total institution. The analysis of the penalty means not only to underline the characters of prison archi-tecture, but also to examine the relationship between the prison structure and the ur-ban space. The essay considers these aspects, also with a focus on the cinematographic representation of prison and life of prisoners

Do Alternative Work Arrangements Substitute Standard Employment? Evidence from Worker-Level Data
This study analyses the impact of an Alternative Work Arrangement (AWA) called "voucher" on earnings of atypical workers and on their alternative income sources using Italian administrative data. Specifically, we investigate whether this form of very flexible work substitutes income from more standard labor contracts and welfare transfers related to employment insurance (sick and parental leave and unemployment benefits). We estimate cross-income elasticities using fixed effects and diff-in-diff specifications that correct for sample selection of individuals in the labor market. Results show that vouchers increase overall labor income, but they also substitute earnings derived from other labor contracts. We do not find relevant associations between vouchers and welfare transfers. The positive effect of vouchers on total income is smaller in specifications that correct for sample selection bias, and the substitution effect with other labor income sources is substantially larger. Overall, our findings show that AWAs tend to substitute standard employment, with small positive net effects on earnings, which are larger for intensive users of vouchers, and in geographic regions with a more sizable informal sector
