For each experiment, data on Ca content; fruit quality; quality parameter at harvest and after 3/5 month of cold storage; stem, leaf and fruit water potentials; gas exchange are reported
IFFPred collection: Intraoperative Femur Fracture Prediction collection
The IFFPred collection dataset is composed of 11 anonymized masked and processed CT scans of whole femurs, the corresponding segmentations, the stem and rasp geometries in the pose selected by a surgeon, and the coordinates of reference points used in the simulations.
One folder for each subject is available: PXX_Y, where XX is the patient code (from 01 to 11) and Y is the modelled side (L for left, R for right).
The file PXX_Y\PXX_Y.nrrd contains the monolateral masked processed CT scan; the voxels included in the segmentation contain the elastic modulus of the voxels, while the other voxels are set to 0.
The bone segmentation is contained in the file PXX_Y\PXX_Bone.stl.
The stem and rasp geometries are contained in the files PXX_Y\PXX_Stem.stl and PXX_Y\PXX_Rasp.stl, respectively.
The coordinates of the points necessary for the definition of the simulation reference system are reported in the file PXX_Y\PXX_Landmarks.txt, namely: Load application point (origin), Stem Apex (X axis direction), Anteroposterior direction (Y axis direction, to be orthogonalised).
The original CT scans were collected at Rizzoli Orthopaedic Institute (IOR) from 1999 to 2016 for surgical planning of hip arthroplasty at the contralateral femur.
The patients CT scans were selected within deceased patients for extreme values in terms of the four most important determinants for bone strength as age, gender, size (estimated with the femoral biomechanical length), and degree of osteoporosis.
All the necessary Ethical committee authorisation documents have been obtained and are available (in Italian) upon request
QUANTHEM. Data from numerical simulation of the averaged entanglement entropy in monitored free fermion dynamics with U(1) symmetry. Version 1
The dataset contains data generated in the framework of Horizon Europe ERC QUANTHEM project. The data were obtained from numerical simulation of the averaged entanglement entropy in monitored free fermion dynamics with U(1) symmetry, when the system is initialized in a Néel state. The data are presented in: M. Fava, L. Piroli, D. Bernard, and A. Nahum, Monitored fermions with conserved U(1) charge, Phys. Rev. Res. 6, 043246 (2024); DOI: 10.1103/PhysRevResearch.6.04324
Dante’s Inferno and the teaching of law and digital citizenship in secondary schools
At the heart of the narrative of Dante’s Inferno is a descending hierarchy of categories, referring to human behavior and attitudes, which is largely an expression of the theological and moral (as well as legal, as far as moral judgments are linked to legal judgments) thinking of his time.
Starting from the application of this system to the framework of human conduct that takes place in the ‘other world’ of the web, this essay aims to reflect on the pure narrative power of the inverted climax of Dante’s Inferno, and above all on its potential applications in the teaching of law and of civic and digital citizenship
OLEUM project. Data about inter-laboratory validation of newly formulated reference materials for olive oil sensory analysis
In the framework of the OLEUM project, the present study represents the conclusion of the activities carried out on reference materials (RMs) to validate their performance in the OLEUM project; specifically, the two artificial olfactory RMs, for rancid and for winey-vinegary defects, were assessed in an inter-laboratory study performed with the collaboration of twelve internationally recognized panels for validation of their appropriateness in resembling the natural defects (compared to authentic virgin olive oil, VOO, samples with corresponding defects) and their intensity values.
The data set contains raw sensory data (intensity from single assessor or median value from panel) from twelve sensory panels/laboratories (coded as LAB1-LAB9, and LAB11-LAB13), that participated in this international study. The DISTAL panel (OLEUM partner and method developer, coded as LAB 10) assessed RMs and samples but, being responsible for selecting samples, organization of trial proper tests and elaboration of data, did not contribute with its data to the results of interlaboratory validation. Each participating panel evaluated: a) 2 reference materials (RM1, Reference Material 1 resembling the winey-vinegary defect; RM2, Reference Material 2 resembling the rancid defect); b) 10 test materials (2 training VOO samples, coded SA-6, and SA-13); c) 8 validation VOO samples (four authentic VOO samples split into two aliquots to obtain replicates of samples, blind pairs coded as 1=8, 2=4, 3=11,10=12)
Dataset of the paper "Crack pattern–based machine learning prediction of residual drift capacity in damaged masonry walls"
This dataset, developed as part of the Horizon 2020 HOLAHERIS project, contains data, models and results related to a machine learning predictor for residual drift capacity in damaged masonry walls based on mechanically consistent crack patterns induced by external actions (earthquake-like loads and differential settlements). The machine learning predictor is trained through 100 crack patterns generated by an accurate block-based numerical model, and the related residual displacement capacity estimated by means of the numerical model within a pushover analysis framework. 12 additional cases, with different geometries, textures, axial load ratios and sizes, are also used to validate the approach a posteriori. Good predictions on masonry piers with features different from those used in the training data support the generalization potential of the proposed method. Accordingly, the training data set could be straightforwardly enlarged also by using numerical models for masonry (e.g., utilized in other research groups). The machine learning predictor is implemented within a Python code which is released in this dataset, together with the numerical models developed and examples of extractions of pushover curves and crack width cumulative distributions. All input and output data are collected within the same Python code
