Get PDFThe UrbanFarm Student Challenge, now in its seventh edition, was established to promote innovation, sustainability, and interdisciplinarity in the field of Urban Agriculture. Since its launch in 2019, the competition has engaged students from universities across Europe and beyond in the co-design of urban agricultural systems integrated into real-world spatial contexts. Each edition has focused on different specific sites, inviting participants to propose feasible solutions that combine food production, environmental sustainability, social inclusion, and economic viability. This year’s edition, UrbanFarm2025, continued on the path set by the previous editions by addressing the transformation of an underutilised lot located within the KTH Royal Institute of Technology campus in Stockholm, Sweden. The selected site presented both spatial and socio-environmental challenges such as perceived isolation, limited functionality, and low ecological value. At the same time, it offered substantial potential for regeneration through the lens of Urban Agriculture. Participating teams were invited to respond to this context by developing design proposals that integrate productive landscapes with multifunctional public uses, aiming to activate the space as a node of food production, education, community interaction, and ecological enhancement. The challenge required students to work across disciplines combining design thinking, agronomic knowledge, environmental engineering, and socio-cultural analysis, while aligning their proposals with the principles of circularity, climate resilience, and urban sustainability. The projects presented in this volume reflect the diversity of interpretations, methodologies, and conceptual approaches developed by the teams. While differing in the proposed strategies and solutions, all proposals share a commitment to leveraging urban agriculture as a driver of positive change within the urban fabric and as a useful tool to restore vacant spaces within cities. They also reinforce the educational objectives of the UrbanFarm initiative: to foster transdisciplinary collaboration, practical problem-solving, and critical reflection among the students, inviting them to work at the interface between food systems and urban development. This collection of student-led work contributes to an evolving discourse on the role of agriculture in urban regeneration. It demonstrates how targeted design interventions rooted in agroecology, systems thinking, and local knowledge can respond to pressing urban challenges while enhancing the liveability, resilience, and inclusiveness of cities

Get PDFLana Bastašić, born in Zagreb in 1986, grown in Banja Luka (Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina), schooled in Belgrade where she graduated, published in 2018 the novel Uhvati zeca (Kontrast publisher, Belgrade). The novel soon becomes a huge success in the Western Balkan area so as to reach three more editions (2019, 2021 and 2022) in Sarajevo/Zagreb and one in Slovenia (2021). In 2020 the novel was awarded the European Prize for Literature and in 2021 the Premio Latisana per il Nord-Est, which she shared with her Italian translator, Elisa Copetti. After that, in 2021 the book gets published in the United States of America by editor Restless Books (New York) in the author’s own self-translation. The aim of this research is to extrapolate and analyze a series of translation examples in order to determine the applied strategies and the deviations from the original text caused by the author/translator’s hybrid-self. The investigation will also take into consideration the awarded Italian translation and compare the solutions, focusing especially on the transposition of culturally specific elements that this novel is abundant with, given the fact that it mostly takes place in Bosnia and Herzegovina before and after the war in the ‘90s. The research objective is to find out how the author handles her role as a translator, how many and what kind of authorial liberties does she allow herself within the rigor of translation and with what results, if compared to the Italian translation

Get PDFThis work aims to analyze the characteristics of self-translation, focusing on the question of whether it can lead to a better result, considering the traditional perspective of “fidelity”. It is widely believed that self-translation can integrate into the author’s “continuous writing process”, potentially making the translation a more refined version of the work for readers from different linguistic and cultural backgrounds. Self-translation grants the author freedom to transform and adapt the original text and at the same time to rewrite own work in the target language respecting the initial intentions. For Umberto Eco in Come se si scrivessero due libri diversi self-translation is a «reinvention in different languages» (Eco 2013: 27), and in fact it does not allow readers or critics to question any changes, omissions, or alterations, since it assumes that the translator may have misunderstood or failed to grasp the author’s intentions.
Ahn Junghyo’s Silver Stallion, translated into English by the author himself and published by Soho Press in New York in 1990, is regarded as one of the most successful Korean novels translated into another language. While its commercial success highlights the potential of self-translation as a valuable practice, the author’s deliberate simplification and clarification of his message in the English version – along with extensive adaptations made to render culturally specific elements more accessible to Western readers – inevitably resulted in a significantly transformed version of the novel. Consequently, both the English and the Korean texts can be viewed simultaneously as the original and the translation. Silver Stallion (1990) will be the subject of this research to deepen reflections on the self-translation process in a dimension in which terms such as “original”, “translation”, “author” and “translator” take on hybrid features and represent translation phenomena

No full textThe dataset includes experimental rotational spectroscopy data and numerical data from computational simulations for the vibrational ground state of trifluoroacetic acid (TFA). The following information is provided: (i) quantum mechanical calculations at the MP2/aug-cc-pVTZ level for vibrational anharmonic force field and electric dipole moment determination and (ii) input and output files for the fitting of the experimental rotational transition lines of TFA with the CALPGM suit of programs. Fittings include more than 180 new spectral lines recorded at room temperature in the frequency range of 18-26 GHz using a chirped-pulse Fourier transform microwave (CP-FTMW) spectrometer and also incorporate spectroscopic data from previous studies (V. Stolwijk, B. van Eijck,Journal of Molecular Spectroscopy 113 (1) (1985) 196–207;S. Antolinez, J. L. Alonso, H. Dreizler, D. H. Sutter, Zeitschrift für Naturforschung A 54 (8-9) (1999) 524–538; B. Get PDFThe mainstream literature on the management of intangible assets and intellectual capital has developed considerably in the last three decades. While a variety of conceptualizations about how intangible assets can be understood and identified are available, the concept of power and, more generally, power dynamics have been vastly neglected in this literature, both conceptually and empirically. In this contribution we argue, through an internal critique, that this lack of attention represents a serious weakness for this literature in relation to its explicit goals. We also attempt an interpretation about the reasons for this conceptual void. Finally, we propose that an increased epistemological diversity would be significantly beneficial for this literature

Get PDFǦIHĀD’S MUḤAMMAD VS. DANTE’S MUḤAMMAD IN THE ARABIC VERSION OF INFERNO’S CANTO XXVIII. This contribution focuses on the analysis of Kāẓim Ǧihād’s Arabic translation of verses 22-63 of Inferno's Canto XXVIII, in which Dante meets Muḥammad and his cousin ‘Alī. This analysis was carried out with the following questions in mind: to what extent does Ǧihād’s translation reflect and respect Dante’s original text in terms of form and content? What does Ǧihād’s Muḥammad “lose” and what does it “gain” compared to Dante’s Muḥammad? And why? To answer these questions, I first contextualised the translation of Ǧihād within the eventful history of Arabic translations of the "Divine Comedy", with particular reference to Canto XXVIII of the Inferno. I then compared Ǧihād’s translation with Dante’s original, also taking into account previous Arabic versions, dwelling in particular on the author’s lexical and formal choices
