The dataset includes primary data (yield in grams per square meter per day or in kilograms per square meter per year) from experiments on simplified hydroponics conducted on four different cultivation systems (three of them hydroponic, namely Floating, Substrate and Garrafas PET, and one on soil), as well as secondary data referring to the minimum cultivation surface required to feed one person, based on a standard diet of 200 g of fresh vegetables per day

Data from Analytical pyrolysis of fir sawdust, olive stone and sewage sludge in molten carbonate salts

    No full text
This dataset contains Py-GC-MS data obtained from the pyrolysis of three different biomass in different experimental conditions. Specifically, Py-GC-MS was used to investigate the chemical composition of semivolatile pyrolysates from firwood sawdust, olive stone, and sewage sludge in the presence of molten Li₂CO₃-Na₂CO₃-K₂CO₃ salts. The effects of pyrolysis temperature (400-800 °C) and biomass-to-salt ratios (1:0, 1:2.5, 1:5, and 1:10) were assessed. Pyrolysis products from each biomass under all experimental conditions were identified, and their peak areas were integrated by extracting chromatograms at selected m/z ions. Integrated areas were normalized to the weight of the pyrolyzed biomass to evaluate the effects of temperature and salt on product distribution. Fisher tests were performed to assess the statistical significance of salt effects on pyrolysis product formation for each biomass

Obesity, Sedentary Behavior and Lifestyle: A Lifecycle Model of Eating and Physical Activity

    Get PDF
We propose a theoretical model to study individual lifestyle choices related to calorie intake and physical activity, depending on personal fitness level and body weight. The model builds on the rational eating literature and can generate a variety of behaviors that are consistent with the empirical evidence. In particular, we show that engaging in periods of a sedentary lifestyle can be a rational, utility-maximizing decision—a finding that is not present in the existing literature but is empirically widespread. Additionally, we show the possible existence of multiple equilibria and multiple indifferent lifestyles. The former justifies policy interventions to help individuals exit a self-reinforcing, but unhealthy equilibrium; the latter provides a theoretical basis for remediation plans that compensate for earlier unhealthy behaviors

Beyond Time: Unveiling the Invisible Burden of Mental Load

    Get PDF
This paper introduces a novel, scalable methodology to measure individual perceptions of gaps in mental load—the cognitive and emotional burden associated with organizing household and childcare tasks—within heterosexual couples. Using original data from the TIMES Observatory in Italy, the study combines time-use diaries with new survey indicators to quantify cognitive labor, emotional fatigue, and the spillover of mental load into the workplace. Results reveal systematic gender asymmetries: women are significantly more likely than men to bear organizational responsibility for domestic tasks, report lower satisfaction with this division, and experience higher emotional fatigue. These burdens are underestimated by their partners. The effects are particularly pronounced among college-educated and employed women, who also report greater spillovers of family responsibilities than men during paid work hours. The perceived responsibility for managing family activities is more strongly associated with within-couple gaps in time use than with the absolute time spent on their execution, underscoring the relational and conflictual nature of mental load

QUANTHEM. Data for the basis-minimized stabilizer asymmetry in qubit systems. Version 1

    No full text
The dataset contains data generated in the framework of Horizon Europe ERC QUANTHEM project. The data were the result of numerical computations of nonstabilizerness for several classes of quantum states in qubit systems. Specifically, the data contains the value of the so-called basis-minimized stabilizer asymmetry and other nonstabilizerness measures, such as the stabilizer Rényi entropies

Poesie scelte di Najīb Surūr. Studio critico e traduzione

    Get PDF

Dataset of the paper "An optimised multi-level method for the pushover analysis of historic masonry structures accounting for the actual masonry pattern"

    No full text
This dataset, developed in the framework of the H2020 HOLAHERIS project, contains results data related to an optimised multi-level method to account for the actual masonry pattern in the pushover analysis of historic masonry structures. The method uses (i) a rigid block-based limit analysis to identify realistic failure mechanisms accounting for the actual masonry pattern. Then, (ii) macro-blocks outlining the failure mechanism are identified based on a heuristic search. Finally, (iii) macro-blocks are modelled as homogeneous material interacting via cohesive-frictional interfaces in a finite element environment where base shear-displacement curves can be extracted by means of pushover analyses. Base shear-displacement curves obtained with this optimised multi-level method on five structural benchmarks, as well as the finite element models, are collected herein to provide data for future comparisons

Una possibile forma di sostegno fiscale: la Zona Culturale Speciale. Tra recupero urbanistico, sviluppo programmato del territorio e sostegno alla cultura

    Get PDF
[An available form of fiscal support: the Special Cultural Zone. Urban renewal, planned local development and support for culture] One of the key objectives in the coming years should be the recovery of urban spaces and their allocation to the development of art and culture, in particular in areas of our cities where places in which citizens can enjoy or experience art and culture are completely or severely lacking. Taxation can play a fundamental role and support local administrations in planning urban renovation and development in favour of the areas of culture and art: culture, art, urban environment and inclusion are the real challenge for the development of society during this millennium, especially in the most marginalized areas of our large cities. Therefore local administrators should be albe, within their territory, to establish "special cultural zones", in which highly preferential taxation - inspired by what is already provided for “special economic zones” – acts as a driving force and incentive for the recovery of urban spaces and of forms of art and culture in poor quarters and on the urban periphery. On the one hand, these are often large portions of urban territory without theatres, music, and art schools, or locations for events and exhibitions, but, on the other hand, they are full of disused or ruined buildings and land. Fiscal and administrative support to private individuals, associations, or public bodies, to enable them to obtain funds, both at a national and European level, can push for new forms of inclusion and, at the same time, for high-quality economic development
