    Get PDF

ECLectic. WP2 Task2.1. Optimization of ECL mechanism and novel set of coreagents

    No full text
The present dataset includes data generated as part of the ECLectic Project, focusing on the generation of electrochemiluminescence (ECL) through an autocatalytic mechanism between persulfate (S2O82-), oxalate (C2O42-), hexaamineruthenium(III) (Ru(NH3)63+) and tris(2,2’-bi-pyridyl)ruthenium(II) (Ru(bpy)32+). The experiments were carried out on a glassy carbon (GC) electrode. This dataset provides evidence of an ECL generation pathway with a large emitting layer at low overpotentials, employing non-toxic coreagents

    Get PDF

Wood, Words, Worlds. Perspective on Global citizenship Education: A Conversation with Carlos Alberto Torres

    Get PDF
This interview with Professor Carlos Alberto Torres explores the ethical and pedagogical tensions shaping contemporary Global Citizenship Education (GCED). Moving between fine woodworking, dialogic writing and Freirean critical pedagogy, Torres uses the metaphor of slowness to reflect on academic labour, the value of practice, and the pressures of academic labour. He highlights both the promise and the limitations of GCED: its Western genealogies, its potentially elitist character, and the challenge of balancing access with quality. Rather than proposing a new theoretical model, Torres extends existing critical traditions by foregrounding material practice, intercultural perspectives such as sumak kawsay and Ubuntu, and the everyday actions through which global responsibility is formed

    Get PDF
Based on the idea that names have not only a referential-indexical meaning but also a social-indexical meaning, this article uses empirical evidence from a corpus of guided interviews to show which social attributions are associated with names in migration in interaction situations. The corpus consists of 130 interviews on the topic of multilingualism and integration with respondents whose first language(s) is/are Turkish, Arabic and German, as well as a smaller group (N = 5) of short sociolinguistic interviews on group membership. The analysis of the narrative reconstruction of biographical experiences with names interpreted/used as migrant names shows that names serve to categorise and position individuals in social space; it further reveals that the social indexical potential of names varies depending on the nature of the situation, interaction and function, revealing ‘orders of indexicality’ (Silverstein 2003)

    Get PDF
In research on language and identity, names serve as ‘acts of identity’ for other- and selfidentification. As markers of belonging or difference, names function as shibboleths and elements of discursive self-construction. This contribution investigates the relationship between names and identity in the Israelkorpus, a collection of narrative interviews with German-speaking Israelis who immigrated to Palestine/Israel mostly before 1939. Their relationship to names is particularly complex due to Nazi other-positioning of Jewish citizens and subsequent Zionist hebraization policies in Palestine/Israel. The analysis highlights names’ role in identity construction and examines how speakers thematize their relationship with birth names and names adopted after migration. The study employs narrative analysis and sociolinguistic tools, combining qualitative and quantitative approaches

    Get PDF
The history of the translation and reception of the poetry collection Chansons de filles de mai, written by Alba de Céspedes shortly after the Parisian May uprisings, demonstrates the limits of the translatability of a work despite a deeply transnational subject such as that represented by the 1968 uprisings. Written in French, in Paris, by an Italian-Cuban writer, and subsequently self-translated into Italian, the collection presents an interesting case for scholars of self-translation. Using unpublished materials preserved at the Alba de Céspedes archive (Mondadori Foundation), this paper explores Alba de Céspedes’ centrifugal impulse, her ambition to translate the Chansons into as many languages as possible, and the reasons for the work’s untranslatability beyond the Franco-Italian contexts. It first examines the transition from the French edition to the Italian self-translation, and then contextualizes this operation within the author’s translation project. Our central argument is that the untranslatability of the Chansons did not depend on linguistic issues, but on economic and, above all, political reasons

ECLectic. WP3 Task 3.1. Gamma Correction and Color Space Transformations for Quantitative Analysis of Electrochemiluminescence Images Using Smartphone Cameras

    No full text
This dataset was produced as part of the ECLectic project and contains data related to the electrochemiluminescence (ECL) response of [Ru(bpy)₃]²⁺ under electrochemical stimulation. It includes potentiostat measurements (cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry), video recordings of the electrogenerated chemiluminescent response, and reference videos for color calibration. The dataset supports the development of standardized image-based quantification workflows, addressing challenges such as gamma correction and device-dependent variability. It enables analysis in multiple color spaces (RGB, CIEXYZ, CIELAB) to identify optimal channels for ECL signal quantification and supports both linear and nonlinear modeling approaches
