Spectrums within Spectrums: Examining Self-Translation in the Context of Broader Translational Practices in Irish-to-English Translation
This paper investigates self-translation in an Irish-language context and gives evidence to support the argument that the approach is more common than has been suggested by other scholars, as it is widely understood, and despite the current bilingual and asymmetric linguistic landscape of Irish speakers in Ireland. Taking the careers of Irish-language poets Nuala Ní Dhomhnaill, Gearóid Mac Lochlainn, and Louis de Paor and their engagement with self-translation as a case study, this paper concludes that Irish-language poets have adopted diverse approaches to self-translation, challenging a homogenous view of the approach and suggesting a spectrum of self-translation and translational engagement, and demonstrating the necessity of further study on self-translation in this minority-language context
Jhumpa Lahiri ovvero la traversata
his essay explores the singular and paradigmatic transformation of Jhumpa Lahiri, renowned American author of Bengali descent, into a writer in the Italian language: at the core of this metamorphosis lies her Italian oeuvre, which stands as a compelling example of a complex literary reconfiguration. The process began with an implicit act of self-translation from English, undertaken during her apprenticeship in Italian, and culminated in the emergence of an autonomous Italian literary voice. The originality and literary quality of her Italian works are such that Lahiri may now be fully acknowledged not only as a prominent Anglo-American author, but also as a significant figure within contemporary Italian literature, in a state of productive and harmonious bilingual coexistence
An Economic Theory of Market Interactions within Energy Communities
In addition to self-production and individual disconnection from the national grid, the ongoing decentralization of the electricity market increasingly relies on energy-sharing mechanisms such as energy communities (ECs). This paper presents a parsimonious model that captures key features of the ECs, focusing on how cost and benefit allocation among community members influences net producers’ energy contributions and, consequently, the total amount of energy shared within the community. The model accounts for heterogeneity among net producers in terms of residual generation capacity and distinguishes between two net consumer groups with different energy needs. It also incorporates crucial factors such as participation fees, the distribution of economic benefits among market participants, and the impact of sharing congestion externalities. The analysis shows how different sharing rules affect total energy exchange within the community and, in turn, the welfare distribution among participants
Nudges and bounded rationality. Choice architecture and the understanding of decision-making processes / Nudge e razionalità limitata. Architettura delle scelte e comprensione dei processi decisionali
This ebook provides a detailed examination of Thaler and Sunstein’s nudge theory and evaluates its consistency with the theory of bounded rationality proposed by Herbert Simon. It first describes the theoretical pillars of nudge theory and discusses the main constructs, such as choice architecture, heuristics and biases, and libertarian paternalism. Then, it identifies points of potential complementarity with Simon’s theory. Through a comparative analysis of core concepts, it reveals that, beyond nominal alignment and terminological similarities, numerous methodological discrepancies render the two theories fundamentally divergent. The profound differences between Simon’s and Thaler and Sunstein’s perspectives are attributed to an underlying epistemological incompatibility. Finally, and somewhat unexpectedly, this essay uncovers salient epistemological links between nudge theory and classical functionalism
Bio-C-Vite
PRIN PNRR 2022 Bio-C-Vite is aimed to the assessment and valorization of biochar amendment for promoting soil health, carbon storage and sustainable viticulture. The purpose can be achieved, based on field experiments data, by the modelling of soil C (Task 3.1) and the biochar interaction with it (Task 3.2), before applying the LCA methodology to estimate the environmental benefits of biochar amendment compared to the use of conventional fertilizer (Task 3.3)
QUANTHEM. Data for the asymmetry dynamics of random quantum circuits. Version 1
The dataset contains data generated in the framework of Horizon Europe ERC QUANTHEM project. The data were the result of numerical computations. The data represent the simulated dynamics of entanglement asymmetry under random quantum circuits with diferent geometric connectivity.
The data are presented in the pre-print:

Random Quantum Circuits, arXiv:2501.12459 (2025
An Economic Theory of Sexual Exchanges and Human Capital
We propose a unified economic model of sexual exchanges that treats both unpaid and paid sex as outcomes of individual time allocation decisions. Departing from existing literature that separates sex into marital relations or specialized markets, the model incorporates relational skills, gender norms, and labor market opportunities. It explains gender patterns in the supply and demand of paid sex and offers a rationale for declining sexual activity despite liberal norms. The framework accounts for behavioral responses to shocks, prices, and wage differentials, and can inform policy debates on gender inequality, fertility, and regulation of sex markets
Dataset of “Mastering palladium catalyzed cross-coupling reactions: the Critical role of in situ pre-catalyst reduction design”
The dataset contains 31 P-NMR spectra as .fid files used to characterize palladium complexes formed during the in-situ generation of Pd(0) catalysts from Pd(II) precatalysts in cross-coupling reactions. The reduction process was examined via NMR to evaluate the influence of reagents, solvents, bases, ligands, and counterions. The spectra represent the optimal results obtained from the screening of each parameter
DATASET of the publication "Immunomagnetic enrichment coupled to PAX8/TP53 molecular pathology approach increases sensitivity in the detection of ovarian cancer cells in ascites"
High-grade serous ovarian carcinoma (HGSOC) is one of the deadliest malignancies in female population. The fluid accumulation in the peritoneal cavity, or ascites, is a peculiar pathological sign during late stages. Malignant cells are often a minority population in ascites making the detection and analysis of cancer cells a challenge. Here we submit the dataset of the pubblication “Immunomagnetic enrichment coupled to PAX8/TP53 molecular pathology approach increases sensitivity in the detection of ovarian cancer cells in ascites”, where combinatorial approach for the detection of malignant cells in OC ascites based on TP53 deep sequencing and PAX8 cytological staining was performed. Among other, dataset contains PAX8 staining images used for quantification and Sanger sequences relative to the publication
Deontology for the Psychological Profession in Italy. A Distance Learning Toolkit for Students of Psychology
The Deontological Code (DC) is mentioned in the constitutive law of the Italian Psychological Profession, Law Number 56, issued in 1989. DC is not a set of rules that any professional may or may not comply with; DC is articulate with a state aegis that all those who decide to profess the profession of psychologist by registering with one of the local registers, either for residential or work proximity, must comply with. The code is a combination of principles and rules: the principles take the form of propositions with an abstract, descriptive tone and a general scope, while the rules take the form of direct indications for conduct. The rules, including those of the DC, have a consumptive character, i.e., they indicate the right attitude to adopt and, consequently, the proper conduct to put into practice. The rules of the code are usually aligned with the laws of the state; however, there may be situations that cannot be foreseen and in which respect for the DC may be called into question. In such cases, the professional must make a choice. Over the years, the code has undergone continuous revisions. As far back as the law establishing the profession, DC has been revised several times, some of which stemmed from the need to adapt the DC to updated regulatory dictates. In December 2023, the CNOP proposed a revision of the DC, which was approved by a majority. The 9,034 who voted in favour and the 7,617 who voted against (258 blank ballots) saw this version of the DC to become the subject of several judicial appeals, the last of which was accepted. On 24 December 2024, the Lazio Regional Administrative Court (verdict number 6630) received the previous appeals since the list of articles the Italian psychologist voted on in 2023 missed those premises that, after the vote, became part and parcel of the DC. Considering the court decision, the articles chosen to be commented on in this distance learning compendium come from the last DC the professional voted in 2013. Moreover, the articles have been selected because they represent the most essential articles to overview what the Italian community of psychologists assume the profession of psychologists in Italy should be from the point of view of an academic student. The articles are ordered and commented on to drive the reader to know what the psychological profession is. The reader would see why psychology in Italy represents a protected profession; then, he would know the limits and the features of the profession. Finally, he would be able to develop concerns about a profession that serves the public in their step to achieve or maintain their mental health
