    Dataset del progetto UniverS-Ita

    No full text

Dataset on Optimizing Planting Density for Increased Resource Use Efficiency in Baby-Leaf Production of Lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) and Basil (Ocimum basilicum L.) in Vertical Farms

    No full text
This document contains the database of measured and calculated indexes on resource use efficiency of baby-leaf production of lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) and basil (Ocimum basilicum L.) in vertical farm systems. This study tested three different planting densities, namely 123 (low density, LD), 237 (medium density, MD), and 680 (high density, HD) plant m-2. Destructive measurements were performed at 15, 22, and 29 days after sowing. Light and energy use efficiency were calculated based on both dry and fresh yields. Additionally, morphological parameters (e.g., plant height and leaf area index) and physiological parameters (e.g., stomatal conductance and chlorophyll content) were measured. All data were collected at AlmaVFarm, the experimental vertical farming facility of the University of Bologna

Electrochemical oxidative CF₃ radical-induced lactonization and etherification of terminal and internal alkenes

The dataset contains all the NMR spectra of the CF3 containing lactones and cyclic ethers synthetized with an electrochemical strategy. The protocol developed facilitates the synthesis of functionalized lactones and cyclic ethers from both terminal and internal alkenes exploiting the advantages of electrochemistry. Mechanistic insights, supported by cyclic voltammetry, radical trapping experiments, and DFT calculations, confirm the involvement of CF3 radicals. This metal-free protocol offers a sustainable and practical approach for accessing pharmacologically relevant scaffolds, underlining its potential for applications in medicinal chemistry

Quelques réflexions sur l’oeuvre littéraire de Franz Kafka et son importance pour le droit in-ternational contemporain

[Some Reflections on the Literary Work of Franz Kafka and Its Relevance to Contemporary International Law] This article explores the connections between the literary work of Franz Kafka, a body of work of universal scope, and international law, particularly contemporary challenges related to access to justice and the protection of human rights. Through analyses of novels such as The Trial, The Castle, In the Penal Colony, Amerika, The Metamorphosis, and The Burrow, the author highlights the tensions between individuals and legal institutions, particularly opaque and dehumanizing bureaucracies, which resonate with current challenges in international law. Franz Kafka’s work illustrates the absurdity and helplessness of characters facing incomprehensible systems of power. The Metamorphosis, for example, portrays the transformation of Gregor Samsa into an insect, a situation that symbolizes the extreme alienation of an individual from a society indifferent to his human condition. This same indifference is reflected in international institutions, often seen as distant and ineffective. By examining concepts such as universal jurisdiction, the principle of sovereignty, and the challenges of global governance, the article emphasizes the need to adapt international law to human realities, to prevent systems meant to safeguard fundamental rights from becoming instruments of oppression. Kafka’s work, with its reflections on the absurd, bureaucracy, and alienation, encourages a critical reflection on the legitimacy and effectiveness of contemporary legal structures, stressing the importance of accessible, transparent justice that genuinely respects human dignity

The UN 2030 Agenda in the EU Trade Policy: Improving Global Governance for a Sustainable New World

The European Union is proposing herself as a major actor on the international scene by systematically founding her approach to the reform processes of rules and procedures of the global economic governance on the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN 2030 Agenda. The EU trade policy appears the most articulated, complete and innovative commercial policy at world level, producing most advanced Preferential Trade Agreements (PTAs) with highly relevant trade and sustainable development chapters combining free trade and investment promotion with environmental, forestry and biodiversity protection, the fight against climate change, the respect of fundamental rights and the attention to gender and cultural diversity issues, while developing unilateral tools as the due diligence directive, the carbon border adjustment mechanism, the deforestation regulation, and tabling most innovative sustainability documents for the WTO reform process. Together with the green transition, the EU is also facing the huge challenges of the economic sanctions against Russia and the energy and food crisis. The Seed Funding Project “ImprovEUorGlobe - The UN 2030 Agenda in the EU Trade Policy: Improving Global Governance for a Sustainable New World”, funded by the Una Europa Alliance, has been implemented in order to provide for a critical interdisciplinary overview and analysis of the SDGs oriented EU trade policy, constantly considering the participation of civil society in the shaping and implementation of the EU trade policy and tools, and the EU ability to play a significant and influential role in the international political debate to promote sustainability values in international relations. ImprovEUorGlobe has involved six Una Europa Universities: Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna, Freie Universität Berlin, Uniwersytet Jagielloński w Krakowie (Jagellonian University in Kraków), University of Edinburgh, Helsingin Yliopisto (The University of Helsinki) and Universidad Complutense de Madrid. The ImprovEUorGlobe Coordinator is Professor Elisa Baroncini (University of Bologna), and the ImprovEUorGlobe Chair is Prof. Filippo Fontanelli (University of Edinburgh). The Academic Leads are Dr. Ana Maria Daza Vargas (University of Edinburgh), Prof. Genia Kostka (Freie Universität Berlin), Prof. Reetta Toivanen (The University of Helsinki), Prof. Piotr Szwedo (Uniwersytet Jagielloński w Krakowie), and Prof. Raquel Regueiro Dubra (Universidad Complutense de Madrid). The rich debate and discussion within the ImprovEUorGlobe Research Team and with the speakers selected for the ImprovEUorGlobe Workshop of July 2023 produced the papers presented in this open access publication

ECLectic. WP2 Task2.1. Optimization of ECL mechanism and novel materials BDD

    No full text
The present dataset includes data and images generated as part of the ECLectic project, focusing on the electrochemiluminescence (ECL) behavior of magnetic microbeads covalently functionalized with [Ru(bpy)3]2+. These microbeads were studied either in presence (Ru_Bead_(Ir(sppy)3)3-) or absence (Ru_Bead) of an Ir(III)-based redox mediator, namely [Ir(sppy)3]3-. The experiments were conducted on a boron-doped diamond (BDD) working electrode under two surface conditions: oxygen-terminated (AO_BDD) and hydrogen-terminated (CR_BDD). The dataset provides evidence of the feasibility of using BDD electrodes for ECL bioanalysis at low overpotentials, facilitated by the addition of the [Ir(sppy)3]3- mediator
