OLEUM Project. Sensory assessment of new artificial olfactory reference materials in virgin olive oil. Performance testing
The dataset contains data that validates a procedure for sensory certification of two, recently formulated, artificial olfactory reference materials (RMs) for winey-vinegary and rancid defects of virgin olive oil named “AV8” and “R6”, respectively. Specifically, a protocol for the suitability of RMs has been defined, shared, and applied by six sensory panels involved in the H2020 OLEUM project; it consisted of three steps: i) evaluation of representativeness of RMs (compared to actual samples) and of its intensity values (named “representativeness AV8_part 1 and “representativeness R6_part 1” in the dataset); ii) determination of the panels’ detection threshold (named “threshold AV8_part 2” and “threshold R6_part 2” in the dataset); and iii) evaluation of long-term stability (named “stability AV8_part 3” and “stability R6_part 3” in the dataset)

La cancel culture è etica?
Nell'ultimo periodo l'opinione pubblica è divisa sull'esistenza o la non esistenza della cancel culture, e se questa sia giusta o sbagliata. È giusto abbattere le statue di Colombo e di Da Gama perché simboli del colonialismo? O, in quanto ormai fanno parte della nostra storia, sono 'intoccabili', benché responsabili di stragi e genocidi? È giusto eliminare parti di storia. Se il dibattito pubblico purtroppo spesso si arresta a considerazioni alquanto banali, la discussione sul dibattito è interessante anche dal punto di vista etico, e nel paper presente si tenta di individuare ciò che va bene della cancel culture e ciò che invece non va bene, nonché di analizzare alcune 'strade' e possibili soluzioni ai problemi presenti e a ciò che non va bene
COVID-19 Test Positivity Rate as a marker for hospital overload
The use of antigen tests for the diagnosis of COVID-19 in Italy has risen sharply in autumn 2020. Italian regions like Alto Adige, Veneto, Toscana, Lazio, Piemonte and Marche did a large use of these tests for screening and surveillance purposes or for implementing diagnosis protocols in addition to molecular tests. As a consequence of this situation the
basic test positivity rate (TPR) definition (i.e. number of new positive cases divided by the number of molecular tests) used at the beginning of the outbreak has lost in accuracy. In this paper, we emphasize the enormous potential of TPR index as a tool for monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic, and we show that the peaks of this index are related to the peaks of patients admitted in hospitals and intensive care units, which occurred on average from 16 and 12 days later approximately, considering all the Italian regions in the first phase of the pandemic. To conduct the study we have defined a novel version of the TPR index which takes into account the number of tests done with respect to the opulation, the number of infected individuals, and the number of patients healed, integrating it with antigen tests. Unfortunately, this index given the lack of data concerning antigen tests, so far cannot be computed for most Italian regions. However, using a limited set of data on antigen tests which were made available in November 2020, we have shown that the TPR forecasting properties are preserved in the second phase. Without any shadow of doubt, we argue that the defined TPR index could be successfully used as a forecasting tool to monitor the impact of COVID-19 in the healthcare system, and that antigen tests data should be standardized soon. We conclude the paper, defining an extended version of the TPR index to be used if more omplete data on antigen tests will be made available, also including vaccinate people
Exploring Directional and Fluctuating Asymmetry in the human palate during growth

The dataset included in this repository provides a collection of palatal arches of 183 individuals from two Italian identified human skeletal collections (Bologna and Florence) aged from 1 to 72 years. The individuals from the Bologna collection (n=87), housed at the Museum of Anthropology of the University of Bologna, are from the Certosa cemetery (Bologna). The collection includes a total of 425 individuals of known sex, name and age at death (range 0-91 years), most of whom belonged to the less-advantaged urban classes of late 19th and early 20th Century (Belcastro et al. 2017). The sample from the Florence collection (n=96), hosted in the Natural History Museum (Anthropology and Ethnology section), University of Florence, belongs to unclaimed indigents from the Florence hospital and comprises lower-class citizens of known sex, name and age at death (range 1-57 years), who lived in the town of Florence in the 19th century (industrialized only after 1890). Paleopathological information of the Bologna individuals was sourced from archival data, which indicated that most of the individuals died following infections diseases (Belcastro et al. 2017) while the Florence individuals health profiles indicated a tendency to breastfeed children until 12-18 months of age and an unbalanced dietary intake induced by poor living conditions (Moggi-Cecchi et al., 1994). Both these findings were consistent with pre- and post-unification Italy in Bologna and pre-industrialised Florence.
For the study, male and female individuals from Bologna and Florence were separated into six groups (Table 1) based on direct observation of skeletal remains. Age groups were subdivided considering mixed dentition until permanent dentition based on the time of eruption/occlusion of the molars. The groups have been divided based on eruption of the dm2 (Group I; 1, 3-1.7 years old – yo), permanent first molar (Group II; 2-6 yo), permanent second molar (Group III; 7-12 yo) and third molar (Groups IV; 13-18 y.o) in occlusion (Groups V; 19-35 y.o) and showing worn crown (Group VI; 36-72 yo). Individuals with damaged maxillae or presenting pathological conditions such as abscesses and extended alveolar bone absorption were excluded to avoid any spurious measurement of asymmetry

The dataset consists of correlational quantitative data collected in Italy within Work Package 7 of the research project CATCH EyoU (Constructing AcTive CitizensHip with European YOUth: Policies, Practices, Challenges and Solutions). The sample consists of 1732 Italian adolescents and young adults between 15 and 30 years old. They participated in the study on a voluntary basis and filled paper and online questionnaires, after receiving an invitation from the researchers and a presentation of the aims of the study. The data was used in the analysis of patterns of citizenship orientations identified by distinct types of civic and political participation, political interest and political trust. In particular, the following variables are included: age group (adolescent vs. young adults), age, gender, school track, perceived family income, minority background, participation (online, civic, conventional political and protest), political interest, political trust.
This data is made available for open access in compliance with H2020 Program regulation, following the guidelines stipulated by the Data Management Plan adopted by the CATCH-EyoU research project

The dataset contains the presentation and preparatory materials presented within the co-design workshop and self-built transformation of public space “Le Cinque Piazze. Un workshop per prendersi cura della zona U” held in March 2019 in Bologna, and the project of urban regeneration of Piazza Rossini, co-developed by students and professionals during the Self-construction workshop workshop "Le Cinque Piazze" held in September 2019.
The data represent the design proposals for temporary urban transformations, developed during the workshop Le Cinque Piazze, by the students of the Architecture and Advanced Design students of the University of Bologna. The 24 students involved worked together with the University of Bologna – Architecture Department researchers, the Municipality of Bologna staff, Foundation for Urban Innovation and Fondazione Rusconi staff.
Data can be used by both university researchers (as methodology to be replicated in similar workshops) or by city staff to take inspiration for projects to be realized in similar parts of the city
