Within-between decomposition of the Gini index: a novel proposal
This paper considers a partitioned population and develops a decomposition of the Gini index in two
components, which measure the within and the between groups inequality. Differently from the most
widespread inequality measure decompositions, having a between component that compares the means
of the groups, ours informs about the distance between their entire distributions. This makes the decomposition helpful in several frameworks, such as in the measurement of spatial concentration A Monte
Carlo experiment supports the appropriateness of our components highlighting that they strongly correlate with two axiomatically derived benchmarks. The presentation of a case study concerning the income
distribution in the Italian provinces concludes the work and stresses the informativeness of the proposed
decomposition
Abuses in dementia, and responses of care
In the paper, we provide a few comments on the phenomena of abuse on people with dementia. Alongside a description of the most frequent types of abuses, attention is driven towards theoretical models aimed at contextualizing the phenomena
In times of social complexity and environmental crisis, such as the one that manifests today, a theory, a praxis, and a disposition for transdisciplinarity and dialogue, whose epistemological dimension is characterized by the multipolarity of fields of research and the interconnection of knowledge, are indispensable. Thus, this essay analyzes, in a transdisciplinary perspective, some works by the “street artist” Banksy that were reproduced in different places and reveal a concern for the common environment. These images, for reasons that will become clearer in the course of the work, are paradigmatic to try to understand both the problems of the environmental crisis experienced today and the idea of an intergenerational pact, taking both Hannah Arendt and Fritjof Capra’s thinking as the principles and rules of international environmental law and international human rights law
Direct evidence that late Neanderthal occupation precedes a technological shift in southwestern Italy (data templates and R script)
During the Middle to Upper Palaeolithic transition (50,000 and 40,000 years ago), interaction between Neanderthals and Homo sapiens varied across Europe. In southern Italy, the association between Homo sapiens fossils and non-Mousterian material culture, as well as the mode and tempo of Neanderthal demise, are still vividly debated. This work presents two lower deciduous molars uncovered at Roccia San Sebastiano (Mondragone-Caserta, Italy), stratigraphically associated with Mousterian (RSS1) and Uluzzian (RSS2) artefacts. Using virtual morphometric methods and supervised learning algorithms we show that RSS1, whose Mousterian context appears more recent than 44,800-44,230 cal BP, can be attributed to a Neanderthal, while RSS2, found in an Uluzzian context that we dated to 42,640-42,380 cal BP, is attributed to Homo sapiens. This site therefore yields the most recent direct evidence for a Neanderthal presence in southern Italy and confirms a later shift to Early Upper Palaeolithic technology in southwestern Italy compared to the earliest Uluzzian evidence at Grotta del Cavallo (Puglia, Italy)

REMODEL. WP4. Vision-based Perception. T4_3. Cable detection and tracking. 3D DLO Shape Detection and Grasp Planning from Multiple 2D Views. v0
The dataset contains the 3D estimation results of a method for 3D shape detection and grasp planning of deformable linear objects. In particular, the data are used to evaluate the different trajectory (linear and angular) approach for the evaluation of the DLO shape with different number of acquisitions. Other test involves the evaluation of the quality and the usability of the reconstruction by grasping the detected object. The data contains information about the starting point of the trajectories and the result using a different number of samples. More specific information about the method and the result can be found in the paper:

Cooperative Movement and Prosperity across Italian Regions
Our main objective is exploring the association between widespread prosperity and the presence of the cooperative movement at the regional level in Italy between 2010 and 2019. We summarize the widespread prosperity through an index originally proposed by Sen (1976) and we then perform a panel regression showing that there is a positive and significant association between such an index and the presence of the cooperative movement as captured by the relative size of cooperative employees. We also detect that the cooperative movement contributes to the regional prosperity more through its employment than in terms of the added value it generates. Moreover, the size of the cooperative presence significantly concurs to explain some large differentials among Italian regions
