Rush of regret: a longitudinal analysis of naturalistic regrets
Get PDFThe current research examines immediate regrets occurring at the time of a meaningful
life outcome to better understand influences on real-life regrets. This research used a
longitudinal approach to examine both initial severity and the rate of change in immediate regrets. Initial severity was associated with greater past control over the
outcome and lower levels of future ability to attain goals relevant to the regret and correct
the regretted situation. Regret decreased over time, but less so if it concerned attainable
ongoing goals. These contrasting effects of future opportunity on initial severity and
change over time support a Dynamic Opportunity Principle of regret. Furthermore, the
effects of past opportunity and of actions versus inactions on immediate regrets diverged
from past findings about retrospective regrets. Immediate regrets may fundamentally
differ from retrospective regrets, and implications for our understanding of regret are
discussed

Implementation of the 2010 Ohio Nursing Home Family Satisfaction Survey : Research Brief
No full textIn 2010, the Scripps Gerontology Center conducted the fifth biennial Ohio Nursing Home Family Satisfaction Survey. The year the survey had the largest number of family responses ever, with 97% of facilities participating and nearly 30,000 involved family and friends responding. Right Place, Right Time, Right Care: An Evaluation of Ohio's Nursing Home Diversion and Transition Initiative
Get PDFIn 2010 the Ohio General Assembly asked the Ohio Department of Aging to develop and implement a nursing home diversion and transition initiative. This report describes the evaluation of that initiative. Results showed that 3800 Ohioans were diverted or transitioned during the project period and the majority were residing in the community six months later
Coming of Age: Tracking the Progress and Challenges of Delivering Long-Term Services and Supports in Ohio
Get PDFIn a 16 year tracking of utilization trends for institutional and home and community-based services, we learned that Ohio has made considerable change in its approach to delivering and funding long-term care services. The main finding revealed that now more than four in ten older people with severe disability on Medicaid received assistance in a non-institutional setting.
