Anthropometric characteristics of Brazilian jiu-jitsu athletes and their relationship with anaerobic performance
[EN] Anaerobic metabolism is crucial to Brazilian jiu-jitsu athletes (BJJ), principally during the decisive moments of the match, to perform sweeps, throws, and ground techniques. However, little is known about the association between anthropometric variables with anaerobic performance. Objectives: To describe the peak power (PP) and mean power (MP) obtained in the Wingate test by BJJ athletes, to investigate the correlations between PP and MP and anthropometric variables, and to identify the anthropometric predictors of anaerobic performance. Methods: Twenty male BJJ athletes (aged: 22.9 ± 2.3 yrs, height: 1.75 ± 0.05 m, and body mass: 75.7 ± 10.3 kg) performed a 30 s Wingate test. Anthropometric variables, body mass (BM), fat free mass (FFM), muscle mass (MM), fat mass (FM), and percentage fat mass (%FM) were measured through electric bioimpedance. Results: Absolute mean values for PP and MP were 926 ± 154 and 665 ± 110 W, respectively, whereas relative values to BM were 12.2 ± 1.3 and 8.8 ± 0.9 W.kg-1, respectively. The mean FI value was 30.0 ± 4.7%. A significant and positive correlation was observed between PP and MP with all anthropometric variables (MM, FFM, %FM, FM). FFM was the best predictor of both PP (R2 = 0.69, p = .001) and MP (R2 = 0.67, p = 0.001) in the Wingate test. Conclusions: The results of this study demonstrated that FFM was the main anthropometric variable associated with anaerobic performance in BJJ athletes. Improving FFM may be a key strategy for enhancing anaerobic performance in this population
Vehicle-to-Vehicle Secure Communication Protocol Based on Digital Vehicle Identification Number
[EN] Establishing secure vehicular communication is essential for the development of autonomous driving capabilities and to make new functionalities possible, such as smart traffic management, or systems aimed at avoiding or mitigating traffic accidents. In this scenario, where the deployment of a Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) may be difficult, the use of identity-based cryptography is proposed as a good alternative, because this approach simplifies encryption by enabling dynamic key generation and secure communication, without requiring prior key exchanges, making it highly scalable and efficient. In this way, this paper proposes a communication protocol applicable to V2V (vehicle-to-vehicle) and V2X (vehicle-to-all) communications, replacing schemes based on PKI with identity-based cryptographic schemes using the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) as an unequivocal vehicle identifier. This paper also describes a prototype implementation in a conventional vehicle and the performance metrics of the system. Through a defined proof of concept, we obtained various quantitative results, demonstrating the importance of the processors used for the encryption and decryption operations required. The proposed system provides secure and flexible vehicle identification, with multiple practical applications. It can enables digital authentication, support toll payments without extra hardware, and facilitate V2X communication via the VIN for improved traffic management and safety. Additionally, it can streamline processes in repair workshops and optimize fuel payment and tracking at service stations.SIAdriana Súarez Corona was partially funded by the research project PID2021-123461NBC22 funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities. Opinions of university education students on degrowth training: A quantitative study
[EN] The ecological crisis and climate change threaten life on the planet. Degrowth is seen as the most effective
way to avoid possible eco-technological collapse and to learn to live more simply, so that others can simply
live. The training of teachers in degrowth, both initial and permanent, becomes a priority for the Higher
Education of future generations. The purpose of this research was to analyse the opinion of 348 students
of Education degrees (Bachelor and Master) regarding the ecological crisis and degrowth, and their
opinion on the need for training on these issues in Higher Education. The quantitative research
methodology was carried out using a Likert-type questionnaire with 10 closed questions, allowing for a
descriptive-interpretative and factorial analysis of the data obtained. The results show that the participants
perceive the seriousness of the ecological crisis and, although they do not have an in-depth knowledge of
the concept of degrowth, they consider that education in and for degrowth should be introduced into the
educational system in order to change the paradigm of infinite development of a finite and consumerist
planet as a form of social fulfilment and happiness. It is concluded that systematic, permanent and indepth
university teacher training on degrowth is necessary as an effective and necessary alternative to face
the current global crisis and that the questionnaire has been an appropriate instrument to find out the
students’ opinions.SIThis research has been funded by the European Project Erasmus+, Jean Monnet Module, titled “Building up an Inclusive and Democratic Europe through a Dialogical Co-Creation of Intercultural Solutions to the Rise of Neo-Fascism and Xenophobia.” Call for Proposals 2020 - EAC-A02-2019-JMO.
Conference Proceedings CIVINEDU 2023. 7th International Virtual Conference on Educational Research and Innovation. September 20-21 2023.
[EN] Teacher training in emotional and attitudinal values related to the care of Pupils with Specific Educational
Support Needs (SENSE) is important for educational inclusion. The aim of this study is to analyse
the emotions that trainee teachers feel and the perceptions they have of the educational care of SENSE
in their classrooms. Sixty students from different degrees in Education (Master's Degree in Teacher
Training for Secondary Education and Baccalaureate, Degree in Primary Education Teaching and Degree
in Early Childhood Education Teaching) from the Distance University of Madrid took part in the
study. An ad hoc questionnaire was drawn up for the collection of information. Although teachers prefer
to avoid having SENAC in their classrooms, they see it as an opportunity to develop as teachers, which
is associated with positive emotions. This discordance underlines the need for transversal training in
university curricula

[EN] The paper examines the complex relationship between technology and occupational health and safety in collective bargaining, highlighting several crucial aspects for the protection of workers. First, the introduction of digital media in the workplace, which will require the adoption of preventive measures related to adequate and sufficient information and training and consultation with legal representatives prior to implementation and on the proper use of the devices. Secondly, the right to digital disconnection and the necessary policies to ensure quality rest time to allow the worker to recover from work and to reconcile, as well as actions aimed at training, prohibiting and sanctioning attitudes that aim at permanent connection; third, the protection of such precious assets in teleworking and the protection of workers' health and safety at work. Thirdly, protection of such precious assets in teleworking, where the few agreements that do include clauses detailing, among others, obligations and responsibilities, the provision of equipment and associated costs, workspace ergonomics, mandatory training and, most controversially, privacy at home. Finally, cyberbullying, where the protocols establish disciplinary measures and aim to promote a safe and healthy working environment, adapted to the challenges of remote working in today's digital context.S
Dogs from the past: Exploring morphology in mandibles from Iberian archaeological sites using 3D geometric morphometrics
[EN] We describe the shape variability of nine dog hemimandibles recovered from two Holocene archaeological sites on the Iberian Peninsula. In this study we mainly focus on the Chalcolithic age dog remains recovered from Barrio del Castillo (Torrejón de Ardoz, Madrid), but also, make comparisons to dog specimens from El Portalón (Sierra de Atapuerca, Burgos) Bronze Age. We used geometric morphometrics (3D) to describe mandibular morphology and compared these specimens with a modern sample of Iberian wolves, dogs, and red foxes. As complete mandibles are rarely found in the archaeological record, we also analysed the variability of the shape on fragments of mandibles. Here, we examine if there is morphological variability or a continuity in size between Chalcolithic and Bronze Age dogs. A scenario of very similar dogs, with a continuity in the size, is expected in the inner regions of the peninsula in contrasts with the coastal sites (influenced by a higher commercial activity). Our results suggest a continuity in the size and morphology of M1. These dogs still conserved diagnostic wolf traits in relation to the carnassial zone. Additionally, we observe that the region behind the M1 in Chalcolithic and Bronze Age dogs is slightly different when we analysed the fragmentary mandibleSIThis work was supported by the project “Geología, geocronología y paleobiología de los yacimientos de la Sierra de Atapuerca VIII” (PID2021-122355NB-C31- FEDER/Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación, Agencia Estatal); and by the UCM research group Ecosistemas Cuaternarios (931098).
