Multivariate Analysis to Relate CTOD Values with Material Properties in Steel Welded Joints for the Offshore Wind Power Industry
[EN] The increasingly mechanical requirements of offshore structures have established the relevance of fracture mechanics-based quality control in welded joints. For this purpose, crack tip opening displacement (CTOD) at a given distance from the crack tip has been considered one of the most suited parameters for modeling and control of crack growth, and it is broadly used at the industrial level. We have modeled, through multivariate analysis techniques, the relationships among CTOD values and other material properties (such as hardness, chemical composition, toughness, and microstructural morphology) in high-thickness offshore steel welded joints. In order to create this model, hundreds of tests were done on 72 real samples, which were welded with a wide range of real industrial parameters. The obtained results were processed and evaluated with different multivariate techniques, and we established the significance of all the chosen explanatory variables and the good predictive capability of the CTOD tests within the limits of the experimental variation. By establishing the use of this model, significant savings can be achieved in the manufacturing of wind generators, as CTOD tests are more expensive and complex than the proposed alternatives. Additionally, this model allows for some technical conclusions.SIThe authors would like to thank the private laboratory TAM for access to testing equipment, software, and mediation for the transfer of testing samples
Brief Communication: An Incipient Coronal Caries Lesion on a Neandertal Molar Tooth From El Sidrón Cave (Northern Spain)
[EN] Objectives. Here, we present the findings of an incipient caries lesion on a permanent upper left second molar attributed to an adult male Neandertal individual from El Sidrón Cave. This study presents new data regarding the antiquity of human caries lesions, their development, and the possibility of the para-masticatory behavior component as a contributory factor in their origin, at least in Homo neanderthalensis.
Materials and Methods. The tooth was examined using a μCT scan to confirm the lesion and to evaluate its extent. Element chemical analysis was performed to check the decalcification on both the lesion edges and pristine surfaces (as carious lesions often involve demineraization of the tissues) using an environmental scanning electron microscope.
Results. The lesion was located on the occlusal surface on the protocone cusp, a small furrow filled with sediment, 2.6 mm in length and 0.78 mm in width, and mineral loss on the white surrounding area compared to the apparently intact adjacent enamel.
Discussion. This pit lesion resembles the appearance of other Neandertal carious lesions, all from temperate environments. Calcium and phosphorus loss has been documented as has been characterized on dental caries. Regarding the etiology, we propose that an intense masticatory and para-masticatory activity combined with evidence for a mixed diet with a high carbohydrate component, the molar tooth may have developed a crack lesion, which was then colonized by a bacterial biofilm that deepened into the dentine and developed this small channel-shaped cariesSIThis work was supported by the Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación MICIU/FEDER (Projects CGL2016-75109-P and PID2021-122356NB-100) and Fundación Parlaq. Economic integration of conventus from the NW of the iberian peninsula: the high imperial ceramic production
[EN] The administrative instruments established in the NW of the Iberian Peninsula when it was annexed to Roman Empire in the late 1st century BC produced new political and social realities. In turn, ceramic productions have also undergone significant changes, represented, on the one hand, by imports and, on the other hand, by gradual changes in local manufacturing with regard to production technologies, decoration and treatment of surfaces, the morphology of containers and the raw material used. This analysis is a contribute to the study of the economic and social changes produced in Bracara Augusta and Lucus Augusti in the beginnings of the Roman occupation and its relationship with the territory, and the importance of the convent capitals as producer and distributor centers.

A systematic literature review of unsupervised learning algorithms for anomalous traffic detection based on flows
[EN] The constant increase of devices connected to the Internet, and therefore of cyber-attacks, makes it necessary to analyse network traffic in order to recognize malicious activity. Traditional packet-based analysis methods are insufficient because in large networks the amount of traffic is so high that it is unfeasible to review all communications. For this reason, network flows is a suitable approach for this situation, which in future 5G networks will have to be used, as the number of packets will increase dramatically. If this is also combined with unsupervised learning models, it can detect new threats for which it has not been trained. This paper presents a systematic review of the literature on unsupervised learning algorithms for detecting anomalies in network flows, following the PRISMA guideline. A total of 63 scientific articles have been reviewed, analysing 15 of them in depth. The results obtained show that autoencoder is the most used option, followed by SVM, ALAD, or SOM. On the other hand, all the datasets used for anomaly detection have been collected, including some specialised in IoT or with real data collected from honeypots.S
