Ballistic particle test (round metal piece) : Preservation Lab Treatment Report
This item recently came off long-term display at the Engineering Library in 2023. There is not much information about this item, except it belongs to the Neil Armstrong archival collection at the Engineering library. It was displayed next to item i110551011, a photograph of a ballistic particle crater view, but it is unclear whether these items are related. This is a round silver meal object that measures 1/8 inches thick and 4 5/8 inches in diameter. There is an approximately 1/8th inch hole positioned 1 1/2 inches from the closest edge, likely created from a high powered projectile impact. On the verso, there is a black marker inscription that reads, “7.5 [c or m?]m/sec / 00,82 Steel.
1888 Centennial Expo Token : Preservation Lab Treatment Report
Small but thick octagon‐shaped token from the 1888 Centennial Exposition. The token is in good condition, showing some oxidation on both sides. On the soldier side it has a small accretion. This token came to the Preservation Lab for scanning and housing
The Genius of History : Preservation Lab Treatment Report
This item is a new acquisition of the DAAP teaching collection. The items in this collection are meant to be handled and used for teaching and exhibition. This is an engraving printed in black ink on a light thin beige laid paper. According to JSTOR: “Bartsch, No. 31. Signed with the monogram "IB" lower right in the plate. Single state proof on laid paper, enriched on the back with the handwritten collection mark of Professor Jules Meunier (Lyon 1825†1860), Lugt 1810.” The print is mounted with pressure sensitive tape along the right edge on a support paper. There is also glassine tape on the verso of the print along the top corners. The support paper, a larger thin light beige laid paper is mounted along the right edge with two types of pressure sensitive tape on a cardstock matting system. A sheet of polyester is tape with pressure sensitive tape to the cardstock matting system to lay over the print, as a protection barrier.View Item in DAAP Library Collection: https://www.jstor.org/stable/community.3502438

This is a 2 ½ x 4 inch photographic cabinet card. There is a head and shoulders albumen portrait of a woman on the recto. On the verso, there is an advertisement printed in gold, silver, red and black ink containing images of Industrial Expo medals and awards. The advertisement is of more importance to the library
Two manuscript leaves, one with The Penitent Saint Jerome : Preservation Lab Treatment Report
This item is a new acquisition of the DAAP Librayr teaching collection. The items of this collection are meant handled and used for teaching and exhibition. This item is comprised of two parchment manuscript leaves, possibly from a Book of Hours, belonging to a particular section of the book known as The Abbreviated Psalter of Saint Jerome. The first leaf features miniature painting of Saint Jerome in Penitence before a representation of Christ crucified on the Cross. The border is decorated with foliate motifs and includes a bird below and another, unidentifiable animal. The second leaf features a four-line decorated initial B that begins the line "Beatifica domine," the first words of the Psalter of Saint Jerome. These leaves can be dated to ca. 1460-80, and can be attributed to an early Netherland miniaturist, probably active in Bruges or Ghent.View Item in DAAP Library Collection: https://www.jstor.org/stable/community.3594226

The Englishwoman's Cookery Book : Preservation Lab Treatment Report
This item is a cooking aid for “Plain Cooks and Maids-of-all-Work” as described in the preface and includes helpful cooking tips plus various recipes. It features a semi-limp, yellow cloth binding, that has the title, author’s name, publishing company, descriptive phrases, and decorative boarders printed onto the front cover, and an advertisement for Bryant & May’s Patent Safety Matches on the back cover. The cloth is lifting along the edges, revealing a thin printed waste board underneath. The text block is composed of gatherings sewn through the fold in a 2-up fashion, with trimmed edges. It features both text and small images of food and kitchen items printed in black ink onto a beige (2), medium (1), slightly textured (1) wove paper. The front flyleaf has a written inscription on it that reads “Margaret (?), 14’ May 1869”. This book was purchased from the Kings Books store in Detroit. The binding is a half cloth binding with paper covering the boards. The spine and corners of the binding are covered in a blueish gray cloth. The paper that covers the boards is textured to resemble cloth. The paper is a brown/greenish color.
