    This is a print from DAAP’s Teaching Collection, purchased at the request of faculty member, Christopher Platts. The collection is meant to be handled during classes and is housed in flat files at the DAAP. This print, created by master Italian engraver Marcantonio Raimondi, is entitled Quos Ego, which is a quote from Virgil’s Aeneid from Neptune, God of the sea. The print is a “frontispiece with a central scene of Neptune and peripheral scenes of Aeolus, Ascanius, Aeneas...”, according to the dealer’s description.     This is a utilitarian binding/shopping catalog. A binder's stamp in the back of the binding reads, "The Heinn Company Milwaukee, Wis." There are alphabetical leather tabs along the text block, many of which are degraded and broken along the fore edge or folded within the text block. One "I" remains protruding from the fore edge but is attached to a very brittle paper that is tearing along the leather. It will not remain attached with further handling.     This item is an artist book from Janus Press of the Gospel of Mary, featuring printed text and geometric shape designs. It is an accordion woven strip binding of stiff pulp painted “cloud” wraps, with a pop-up element in the middle of the text block. The text block is printed in letterpress in black, grey, blue, and green inks onto a light green “Barcham Green”, thick, slightly textured (2) wove paper, featuring rough cut edges.     The life of the Thrice Noble, High and Puissant Prince William Cavendishe, Duke, Marquess, and Earl of Newcastle is a full leather binding printed in London by A. Maxwell in 1667. The full sprinkled leather binding is tightback laced case over five raised cords. The covers show no tooling decoration. The spine is gilt tooled, along with the stamped title on a red leather adhered to the spine. This is a full cloth binding featuring blind tooling on the upper and lower covers and an embossed gold bust of a man in the center of the upper cover. The cloth is brown, as are the endsheets.     This item is a new acquisition of the DAAP teaching collection. The items in this collection are meant to be handled and used for teaching and exhibition. This is small engraving by Jan Pietersz Saenredam, a Dutch engraver and draftsman, 1565-1607. The engraving shows Adam taming the Animals, from the Story of Adam and Eve, a set of six engravings. The primary support is a light thin beige laid paper. There are two graphite handwritten inscriptions on the verso of the engraving. Additionally, on the verso adhered to the top edge there are two hinges that appear to be made of Kozo fibers.View Item in DAAP Library Collection: https://www.jstor.org/stable/community.3502441
