Perancangan Residential Dementia Care Center Di Klaten Dengan Pendekatan Arsitektur Humanis
Indonesia faces the challenge of dealing with a growing elderly population that
continues to increase significantly. Klaten Regency is part of the Central Java region
which has a significant elderly population. In 2023 the number of elderly people in
Klaten amounted to 202,591 people with a percentage of 15.77%. As they age, the
elderly experience a decrease in cognitive function and memory which can lead to
dementia. The aging process can cause degeneration or damage to the elderly brain,
resulting in a decrease in cognitive, intellectual, social, and occupational functions.
This decline can affect daily activities. The availability of adequate facilities and
services to care for and support the elderly with dementia in Klaten is still very limited.
The design of the Residential Dementia Care Center uses a humanist architectural
approach that was chosen as the design paradigm underlying the entire design process.
By emphasizing the importance of understanding the space needs, experiences, and
aspirations of space users, as well as creating a responsive, inclusive, and empowering
environment

Redesain Singosaren Plaza Kota Surakarta dengan Pendekatan Natural Ventilation
Singosaren Plaza Surakarta City is one of the old commercial buildings that has experienced a decline in function and performance due to the development of space needs and the behavior of modern visitors. Based on the results of the Post-Occupancy Evaluation (EPH), more than 70% stated that the building did not meet the standards of technical, functional, and spatial behavior—with findings such as a poor ventilation system, many non-standard and damaged rooms, and suboptimal circulation. A total redesign is needed to restore the building's suitability and adapt it to current shopping center standards that are oriented towards user comfort and energy efficiency. The goal of this design is to present an adaptive transformation of the building's function through an environmentally friendly and contextual architectural approach to the tropical climate. The main concept promoted is natural ventilation as a method to improve air quality and thermal comfort passively. The design strategy includes rearranging the retail layout, implementing cross-ventilation through facade openings, utilizing voids and atriums as vertical ventilation paths, and integrating vegetation and open space elements to assist natural cooling. In addition, public and private zoning are also reorganized to create a healthier and more comfortable shopping experience. The design results show significant improvements in terms of thermal performance, energy efficiency, and space quality. In conclusion, the redesign of Singosaren Plaza with a natural ventilation approach has the potential to become a model for revitalizing old commercial buildings that is more sustainable, adaptive, and in line with the needs of modern cities
Konsumerise Dalam Serial Drama "Pay Later" Analisis Semiotika Roland Barthes
The research in the drama series Pay Later aims to analyze how media film gives a representation of consumerism in modern society. The drama series Pay Later emphasizes the consumption of goods or services for symbolic value, and social recognition in the spectacle society. The method used in this research is qualitative with data collection through documentation of scenes related to consumerism. This research uses Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis which explains denotation, connotation, and myth. In addition, it uses Jean Baudrillad's theory as a reference to symbolic consumption, and Guy Debord's theory as a reference related to spectacle society. The data in this research is strengthened by triangulation techniques. The results of this study show that the drama series Pay Later represents consumerism in the form of symbolic value consumption and spectacle society consumption through the scenes shown in the series. This research also shows that there is a myth that consumption in this era is done for symbolic purposes only, but not in accordance with the needs of reality

Redesain Terminal Ir. Soekarno Melalui Pendekatan Universal Design
Ir. Soekarno Terminal in Klaten Regency, classified as a Type A terminal and strategically located between two major cities Surakarta and Yogyakarta should ideally function optimally as a key transportation hub. However, in practice, the terminal has yet to meet the minimum service standards, particularly in catering to the needs of passengers with special needs. According to data from the W.H.O (2011), around 15% of the global population lives with some form of disability, with 82% residing in developing countries, including Indonesia. This group faces significant socio-economic challenges such as limited access to education, healthcare, job opportunities, and public transportation. These issues are further exacerbated by the lack of universal facilities at Ir. Soekarno Terminal, including the absence of lifts, guiding blocks, ramps, accessible toilets, designated taxi lanes, rural/urban public transportation, and physical integration with Klaten Station. Additionally, disorganized parking circulation, a terminal building height that cannot accommodate double-decker buses, and the emergence of shadow terminals further hinder its functionality. Therefore, the implementation of a Universal Design approach offers a comprehensive solution to address issues of accessibility, comfort, and inclusivity, aiming to restore the terminal's role as a decent, accessible, and inclusive public transportation hub for all age groups and users

Speaking or Staying Silent? A Study On English Speaking Anxiety Among EFL Students In Indonesia
This research examines English speaking anxiety among Indonesian EFL students, specifically eighth-grade students. Speaking anxiety is one of the most significant issues that influence learners' confidence and commitment in English-speaking activities. This research will identify the main causes of speaking anxiety, monitor how students cope with it, and discuss teachers' roles in minimizing such anxiety. In this qualitative descriptive study, data collection was conducted by using classroom observation, interviews, and questionnaires. Three salient reasons behind speech anxiety emerge from the findings: Communication Apprehension (CA), Test Anxiety (TA), and Fear of Negative Evaluation (FNE). Students are primarily anxious, not confident, and apprehensive about mispronouncing words during public speaking. Test anxiety serves to increase even more their apprehension towards public speaking with Grade and performance-measuring anxieties. To overcome such anxiety, the students turn to coping strategies like peer practice, pre-reading notes before they are presented, and visualizing a conducive learning environment. Teachers also have important roles in lowering the students' anxiety levels by giving them a supportive learning environment, providing feedback, and using interactive teaching mechanisms. This research emphasizes the need for education policies to support systematic English-speaking courses and peer-helping learning programs. Students can overcome these obstacles and enhance their confidence, become more active in class, and enhance their overall English skill.
