Customizing Yourself! The Effect of Different Customization Types on Consumers\ue2 Behavioral Intention: The Moderating Effect of Product Involvement and Product Type

    No full text
\ue2Mass customization\ue2 has been widely used to meet the diverse needs of consumers, who are therefore allowed to combine standard modular components into customized products based on their own needs. By using the elaboration likelihood model (ELM), this study explores how willingness to consume behavior, which are product attitude, willingness to buy, and willingness to pay, is affected by different types of customized products through self-congruity with the variable of customization types. This study also includes variables that may affect the connection between customized products and consumers\ue2 self-concept\ue2product involvement and product type\ue2for in-depth exploration. The data was obtained and evaluated using experimental methods. Experiment 1 is a two-factor between-group design of 2 (customization type: core attribute object vs. peripheral attribute object) x2 (product type: explicit vs. implicit); experiment 2 is a three-factor between-group design of 2 (customization type: core attribute object vs. peripheral attribute object) x2 (product involvement: high vs. low) x2 (product type: explicit vs. implicit). The results show that the core attribute objects lead to higher actual self-congruity while the peripheral attribute objects cause higher ideal self-congruity, and that product involvement and product types interfere with consumers\ue2 self-congruity provoked by different types of customization. It is suggested that actual self-congruity and ideal self-congruity are indeed significant intermediate variables for different customization types to affect product attitude and willingness to buy

The Impacts of Agricultural Subsidies Policies on Voting Behavior \ue2 An Example of Farmers' Groups in Yunlin County Mayor Election in 2018

    No full text
In 2018, the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) lost control of a number of agricultural counties; the failure of agricultural policy was a major factor in this election loss. The agricultural subsidy budget accounts for the largest portion of Taiwan's agriculture budget. Yunlin County is the largest agricultural county in Taiwan, and its agricultural subsidy policy is of greater importance. Through in-depth interviews with leaders of vegetable, mixed grain, and rice farmers' groups in Yunlin County, this study determined that farmers' groups in Yunlin County have a significant influence on subsidy policy. By interpreting and promoting policy, farmer groups can affect the voting behavior of farmers through their social influence. The results of this study suggested that the satisfaction level and implementation level of agricultural subsidy policies would influence voting behavior as farmer groups would interpret the policy differently if they had different approval levels for policy satisfaction or implementation level. Farmers gain policy knowledge mainly through the farmer groups. On the basis of their confidence in farmer organizations, they will alter their voting intentions in response to the recommendations of farmer groups. When formulating and implementing policies, the government should communicate effectively with farmer groups so that policies can be implemented and explained through farmer groups to maximize the benefits of agricultural subsidy policies. This study has concluded that the short-term subsidy policy is not a cure for elections and that, in order to encourage agricultural transformation and development, a comprehensive subsidy policy that suits the demands of the industry should be established

The Effect of Different Types of Reward Advertising on Advertising Attitude and Game Attitude through Perceived Value:The Moderating Effect of Advertising Length and Game Genre

    No full text
In order to reduce the interference of advertisements with games and to increase players' willingness to click on advertisements, bonus advertisements that reward players with virtual items after the advertisements have been played have emerged. However, the rewards of reward advertising are different, and players have different attitudes towards advertisings and games due to different virtual rewards. Therefore, this study aims to investigate how different virtual rewards have different effects on advertising and game attitudes through perceived value, based on the rewards ads in mobile digital game. At the same time, this study also includes the factors that may affect the perceived value, such as ad length and game genre, to investigate. This study adopts an experimental method to find out whether consumers have different perceived value of the rewards they receive by clicking on different length of advertisements in different game experiences through an inter-group design of 3 (reward type: game currency vs. game character life vs. game props) X 2 (advertising length: long advertisement vs. short advertisement) X 2 (game genre: strategy game vs. puzzle game). The study was conducted to find out whether consumers have different perceived value of the rewards they get when they click on different length of advertisements in different game experiences, and then the perceived value affect their attitudes towards advertising and game. A total of 507 participants were recruited to participate in the experiment, and the results showed that, excluding the interference effect, the reward categories of different reward advertisings have the same perceived value, however, when players clicked on long advertisings, the game prop rewards had the highest perceived value; when players clicked on short advertisings, the game prop rewards had the lowest perceived value. In strategy game, the game item bonus has a higher perceived value, but in puzzle games, the game character life value has a higher perceived value. Finally, the perceived value effect alone does not affect advertising attitude and game attitude, but the advertising attitude and game attitude of the reward category of the reward advertising are mediated by perceived value under the interaction effect of advertising length and game genre

    No full text
For structural analysis and cost optimization of steel cases with various sizes, this thesis develops computer software as a friendly design tool for the development of steel cases conveniently. First, based on the design consideration of structural safety, the relevant forces and moments of beams are established and the mechanical models including bending, buckling, and the moment of inertia of structural parts are considered. To cope with the steel cases during suspending and dumping, the integration method, the Superposition theorem, and the principle of parallel axis theorem are used to ensure the design safety factors. In consideration of working conditions of a steel case, the four modules for the cover plate, side plate, end plate, and bottom plate of a steel case are analyzed during the development of the computer analysis tool. To verify this method, CAE is used for verification. To achieve the design optimization of the selected beams based on a specified safety factor, the beam weight is calculated. Finally, to verify the feasibility and reliability of the computer analysis tool developed in this thesis, the design optimization can help reduce the material weights up to 11 % (108 kg) and 5.5 % (5.5 kg) for an existing machine tool steel case and an existing ATV steel case, respectively

The Difficult-To-Balance Seesaw: How Taiwan's President Affects Our Status Quo Between the US and China

    No full text
This cross-level study examines the current state of affairs in Taiwan by taking the international level as a basis and incorporating the domestic level and the personal level of the president. While Taiwan's president is constrained by the international constraints imposed by the U.S. and China, and the long-standing domestic support for maintaining the status quo of natality, the president is unable to present a full ideology of the individual in the election. However, it cannot be ignored that the ideology of the president also influences the choice of Taiwan's foreign policy. The post-democratization presidencies have led the country to a different status quo, and the public in Taiwan will vote for or against the continuation of the president's achievements at the next vote. Therefore, this study attempts to systematically research the integration of the three levels, as our country's presidents have moved our country between the US and China, creating an unbalanced national status quo

As the complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) process technology continues scaling, a self-powered electronic system can be realized by harvesting the energy from the environment. Solar energy is considered the most accessible resource. Solar cell integration with electronic circuits on the same chip is also promising. This thesis aims to develop a front-illuminated solar cell by using standard bulk CMOS process provided by a foundry. To maximize the light collection efficiency, the metal grids retain only necessary traces, and the polysilicon dummies are placed beneath the metal lines. The Si3N4 passivation layer is also removed. High refractive index contrast between Si and SiO2 leads to high interface reflection at visible light. We implemented periodic silicon nanowire array to reduce the index contrast and thus enables lower interface reflection by 10~20 %. All efforts help with the increase of light collection efficiency, and thus enhances the conversion efficiency of solar cells. We further obtained an optimized PN junction design having 150 \uce\ubcm junction distance, which is the trade-off between series electrical resistance and optical shading of the solar cells. Experimental results revealed a conversion efficiency of 5.41 % and 9.99 % under the illumination of solar simulator and 980-nm laser, respectively. By the combination of post-CMOS etching process and grinding/cutting to avoid the common ground issue, we successfully achieved voltage boosting by serially connecting 25 photovoltaic cells. The open-circuit voltage is 10.81 V and the output power is 1 mW. Finally, the resultant photovoltaic modules are utilized to drive smart dimmable glasses

Investors\ue2 Gambling Preference in the Index Options Market

    No full text
Investors' gambling preferences have rarely been less discussed with index options in recent studies. We use Taiwan-weighted stock price index option call data from 2002 to 2021 to examine the relationship between lottery-like attributes and index option returns. Kumar (2009) defined lottery-like stocks as low-priced stocks with high uniqueness risk and uniqueness skew. We use variables such as MAX and return skewness as proxy variables for gambling preference in Bali et al. (2011), Hung and Yang (2018) and Barberis and Huang (2008). There is a significant negative correlation between gambling preference and Taiwan index option return regardless of the moneyness of options. In addition, due to the short duration of the expiry options, it is more in line with the lottery attributes defined by Kumar (2009). Taiwan is a thin financial market dominated by retail investors. This study examines the trading behavior with different types of investors. The results show that retail investors and domestic institutional investors are more likely to trade lottery-like options. Foreign institutional investors are relatively rational. Finally, we use lottery variables as trading signals to establish an effective and outperformed trading strategy

The Study of Grassroots Female Leaders Public Participation

    No full text
In retrospect, women's political participation in Taiwan has gradually increased with the election of the first female president in 2018 and the growing ratio of female legislators. The opportunities for women to participate in politics have also seen an increase. However, the public sector is still a male-dominated arena in which men still have a say. Grassroots public participation shows a disparate gender ratio. The ratio of female village leaders is less than 20% nationwide. In community development associations that are on the same scale as village grassroots organizations, even though up to 70% of the members are women, less than 20% of them head the board. This study attempted to focus on women leaders in grassroots organizations. We examined the experiences of women village leaders and community councilors in public engagement. The study mainly explored the key factors for female grassroots leaders to engage in public participation and how they negotiate gender politics in the public/private sphere, as well as what strategies they employ to win the recognition of others in the grassroots public sphere. The study found that male patriarchs are one of the key factors that trigger women's participation in public affairs. Rather than taking a secondary role, women are activating their own dynamic character and actively engaging in public affairs as they become involved in their communities. Caregiving in the private sphere is a major factor influencing women's participation in public affairs. Women activists defy gender power structures. Instead of prioritizing domestic work, they manage to strengthen their leadership positions. Moreover, the patronage model of grassroots politics makes it difficult for women leaders to gain access to political resources if they do not follow this logic. To obtain the recognition of the majority, women leaders have to empower themselves and lead by example to assume the leading position. In terms of leadership strategies, masculine autocracy or flexible altruism and being a good listener are all modes of action for women leaders

A Comparison the Role and Function of Village Cheifs in Municipalities and Counties --Taking Dahuali(Niaosong District, Kaohsiung City) and Shanglinli(Caotun Town, Naotou Country) as Examples

    No full text
The purpose of this study is to explore how functional role of the head of the county changed after the Executive Yuan implemented the merger and restructuring of large cities in 2010. Local governments were divided into six municipalities and sixteen counties. Municipalities directly under the Central Government set up district offices in accordance with the \ue2Local System Law\ue2, abolishing the legislature that symbolizes local self-government. The district office became the dispatched office of the municipal government. As a result, the district office of the municipality lost its local autonomy status, and the citizens of the municipality also lost the civic power to elect district chiefs and residents' representatives. At the same time, the county and township offices were not affected by the restructuring. They still retain the status of local autonomy, and their civil rights are not affected at all. Whether the restructuring of government organizations has led to changes in the functional roles of directly elected village chiefs\uef\ubc First, by the literature analysis, this paper clarifies the differences between the administrative organizations under the municipal and county governments. One is the agency dispatched by the municipal government, the other is the self-governing agency. Second, compare the institutional changes after the reorganization of counties and cities affected the changes in the relationship between the township chief and the village chief. We discuss the changes in the roles and functions of the village head under different systems after the reform. Finally, we interviewed the resident, the chief, the head of the district, the mayor, and the speaker to discuss the relationship between village head and township heads after the merger of the cities, and conduct the research. This fills in the gaps in the existing literature. As a graduate student in political science, there is little or no literature about the role and function of village chiefs in municipalities and counties. Therefore, the author is interested in this topic and compares the relationship between the municipality, county, township, urban area, and the village chief, and the impact on the role and function of the chief. This study believes that as the government administrative organization system change, the thinking, personal Emotional intelligence Quotient (EQ), and role function of the relevant practitioners may change due to the system. Especially for the elected village head and the district head appointed by the mayor. In the 16 counties that have not changed, the system and personnel have maintained the original mode of operation. Compared with the role and functions of the post-reform governor, it can better reflect the vitality of local politics under the political pluralism of our country. It can get a glimpse of the impact of system changes and the pros and cons, which can be used as a reference for the future. \ue
