Impulsando el ahorro energético : el caso de la Biblioteca Rector Gabriel Ferraté (UPC)
No full textEn un contexto de fuerte crisis económica y medioambiental, la Biblioteca Rector Gabriel Ferraté (BRGF), de la Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), ha conseguido un ahorro en energía eléctrica superior al 33 % a pesar de producirse en un momento en el que la biblioteca ha ampliado significativamente sus prestaciones.
Detallar las acciones del plan interno que ha determinado este ahorro es el objetivo principal de este artículo, pero además también se pretende dar a conocer las colaboraciones y gastos que han sido necesarios para ello, cuáles han sido las limitaciones impuestas a tales acciones o cual es el futuro esperado en este campo en la BRGF y en las bibliotecas de la UPC. Todo esto, con la voluntad de poner de manifiesto la importancia de un tema tan inédito en la bibliografía dedicada a las bibliotecas y, sobre todo, con el ánimo de que alguna(s) de estas acciones puedan ser útiles y aplicables a otras bibliotecas tanto universitarias como de cualquier otro ámbito. | In a context characterized by a huge economic and environmental crisis, the Rector Gabriel Ferraté Library (BRGF) at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC) has managed to save more than 33% in electricity, in spite of having expanded its services significantly

The main aim of this paper is to review the action taken under the internal plan that has achieved this saving, while also to inform about the collaborations and expenses required, the difficulties met, or the prospects for the future in this area in the BRGF and UPC libraries. We stress the importance of this topic – currently ignored in the literature on libraries – and, especially, in the hope that some of the measures taken may be useful and applicable in other libraries, both in universities and elsewhere

Límites sociales a la eficacia de la biblioteca pública
No full textEste artículo analiza la eficacia de las bibliotecas públicas flamencas belgas para
llegar a un gran número de usuarios de diversas clases sociales. Para ello, se desarrolla
un modelo estadístico que utiliza los datos recogidos mediante un cuestionario
amplio dirigido a los usuarios, otro dirigido a los bibliotecarios y datos demográficos.
Si tenemos en cuenta tanto las características de la biblioteca pública como su
entorno social, se puede evaluar claramente el impacto que la biblioteca pública en
sí tiene sobre el total de usuarios que la visitan y sus peculiaridades sociales. Factores
tales como el número de CDs, vídeos y DVDs de la colección, además de las
horas de apertura, están relacionados positivamente con el número de usuarios y
con el porcentaje masculino que la visita. No obstante, el modelo nos revela que la
biblioteca tiene un impacto muy limitado sobre el porcentaje de visitantes con menor
nivel cultural, aunque esta cifra parece estar determinada en gran medida por
las características del municipio. Se espera que los resultados contribuyan a debatir
sobre la eficacia de la biblioteca y los objetivos que se esperan que la biblioteca y
su personal cumplan. | This article focuses on the effectiveness of Flemish (Belgian) public libraries in
reaching a large and socially diverse public. A statistical model is developed which
incorporates unique data gathered through a large-scale visitor survey, a survey of
librarians and municipal demographic information. By taking into account both
characteristics of the public library and its surrounding community, the impact public
libraries themselves have on the number and composition of their visitors can be
clearly assessed. Factors such is the Porcentaje de CDs, videos, and DVDs in the collection, and the opening hours are positively associated with the overall number
of visitors and also the amount of male visitors. However, the model reveals a rather
limited impact of the library on the Porcentaje de lower-educated visitors; this percentage
seems to be largely determined by municipality characteristics. The results
hope to contribute to a discussion on library effectiveness and the current demands
being placed on libraries and their staff
El capital social en la biblioteca universitaria
No full textEste trabajo es una aproximación al conocimiento sobre cómo se genera el
capital social en una institución pública como la UAB partiendo de uno de sus principales
elementos: la biblioteca. El propósito fue identificar y describir qué acciones
de los bibliotecarios generan capital social, basándonos en la Teoría Fundamentada
y el método de las comparaciones constantes. La teoría desarrollada demuestra
que el capital social en la biblioteca está conformado por redes que parten de unas
condiciones antecedentes a las cuales se asocian acciones concretas de los bibliotecarios.
La identificación de estas acciones permite potenciar el capital social de la
biblioteca y, por tanto, de la universidad. | This work is an approach to the knowledge about how social capital is generated
in a public institution like the UAB, starting from one of its main elements: the
library. The purpose was to identify and describe what actions of librarians generate
social capital, based on some grounded theory principles and the constant comparison
method. Results show that social capital in the library consists of networks
based on background conditions, which are associated to specific actions of librarians.
The identification of these actions may strengthen the social capital of the
library and, therefore, that of the university

No full textEn junio de 1788 los impresores Manuel Muñiz y Antonio de Santa María tomaban la decisión de asociarse creando la primera imprenta mancomunada de que tenemos noticia en la ciudad de Murcia. Un mes más tarde pasaban por el registro de Francisco Bocio con objeto de formalizar la compañía y establecer las condiciones por la que debían gobernarse. Las informaciones que aportan este documento y otras diversas escrituras acerca del devenir del taller del Plano de San Francisco permiten alumbrar un tramo de historia de la tipografía murciana del Setecientos. | In June 1788 the printers Manuel Muñiz and Antonio de Santa María set up to create

El uso de la documentación en programas informativos : el caso de Informe Semanal
No full textEl presente artículo analiza el uso de la documentación audiovisual en el programa informativo no diario más longevo de TVE, Informe Semanal. Para ello se ha tomado una muestra de cuatro meses de emisiones de este programa y se han establecido diversas categorías de imágenes tomando en consideración además su fecha de grabación. Junto a este estudio cuantitativo se ha profundizado en diversos aspectos: la reutilización del programa de sus propias imágenes, la inclusión de imágenes procedentes de otros programas informativos (diarios y no diarios) así como el uso de los “documentos especiales”: imágenes de videoaficionado, fotografías y secuencias de documentales y películas. En concreto, en este último caso, la autora destaca un uso novedoso al que ha denominado “imágenes ficticias”; el uso de secuencias de películas para ilustrar hechos reales. | The article analyzes how audiovisual documentation has

of its filming. Beside this quantitative study, other
aspects have been studied: The reuse in different programs of the same shooting, the use of materials from
other news program (both daily and non daily), and th
e use of “special documents” (amateur shooting, pho-
tographs and films and documentary scenes). Specifically
