Algumas notas sobre a prosa de Natalia Borges Polesso
Get PDFThis article aims at analyzing the presence and the fictionalization of lesbianity in the bosom of the prose of the writer Natalia Borges Polesso. In light of the lesbian category as an analytical tool to reading and interpreting, whilst foregrounding a dialogue with other voices and productions, such as those of Monique Wittig, Adrienne Rich and Eve Kosofsky Sedgwick, I seek to embroider a text that is delineated on the pace of four movements, which portray the possibilities of reading, the creation of the narrative from a point of view, the inscription of lesbianity and the writing process as loci of reviewing that are perceived throughout the literary production of the author. I believe that the work of Natalia Borges Polesso has been contributing to the visibility of new dynamics of recognition and has shed light on paths where we may find other senses concerning lesbianities, genders and desires, due to the production of a prose that weaves plural meanings to our living experiences.O presente trabalho busca refletir sobre a presença e ficcionalização da lesbianidade em meio à prosa da escritora Natalia Borges Polesso. Tomando a categoria lésbica enquanto uma chave de leitura e interpretação e partindo do diálogo com outras vozes e produções, como as de Monique Wittig, Adrienne Rich e Eve Kosofsky Sedgwick, procuro costurar um texto que se desenha a partir de quatro movimentos, que dizem das possibilidades de leitura, da elaboração da narrativa desde o ponto de vista, da inscrição da lesbianidade e da escrita como espaço de revisão que atravessam a produção literária da autora. Acredito que a obra de Natalia Borges Polesso tem contribuído para visibilizar novas dinâmicas de reconhecimento e oferecido caminhos para encontrarmos sentidos outros em torno das lesbianidades, dos gêneros e dos desejos, ao produzir uma escrita que tece significados mais diversos para as nossas vivências

Inspired by the story of the first Cuban woman to undergo a gender confirmation surgery, the narrative focus approaches the process of revealing character Rosa Elena’s secrets about her gender transition, as well as the criticism of the socialist “new man” project (GUEVARA, 2011) by highlighting the Cuban State policy of repression against members of the LGBTQIA+ community in the Special Period in Times of Peace.Vestido de Novia, primeiro longa-metragem dirigido por Marilyn Solaya, foi lançado em 2014. O filme explora as tensões produzidas por definições de gênero centradas na matriz da heterossexualidade compulsória (BUTLER, 2003) perante a experiência de mulheres transgênero. Esquecer, apagar e canonizar: Sobre a legibiidade de O Ateneu
Get PDFIn this article, we propose a reflection on the functioning of the canon in connecting, crossing and adjudicating meanings for and from expressions recognized as literary. Starting from the canon as an effect, we intend to understand it in its production process: canonicality. We analyze statements from the literary criticism about The Athenaeum, by Raul Pompéia, in order to address the “constitutive” and “local” relationship between saying and keeping silent in the discursive process of producing meanings for this work. We understand that the impossible is always affecting the literary canon, which insists on sharing meanings in the legibility of the work. We wonder, then, what order this implies.Neste texto, propomo-nos a pensar o funcionamento do cânone naquilo em que ele se conecta, atravessa e adjudica sentidos para e desde o dizer reconhecido como literário. Havendo o cânone como efeito, pretendemos compreendê-lo em seu processo de produção: a canonicidade. Analisamos enunciados da Crítica sobre O Ateneu, de Raul Pompéia, com o objetivo de tangenciar a relação “constitutiva” e “local” entre dizer e calar no processo de produção de sentidos para o aludido texto. Compreendemos haver sempre um impossível histórico afetando o cânone literário, o qual insiste na partilha de sentidos em vigência na legibilidade da obra. Get PDFIn this paper, I analyze The Well of Loneliness (1928), by Radclyffe Hall (1880-1943), building on its publication context and the narrative construction of the protagonist Stephen in relation to lesbianism. Considering that Stephen transgresses the impositions of the sexual roles of female socialization, I approach the theories developed by Simone de Beauvoir (1949) and, later, Monique Wittig (1980), among others. Having the possibility of what Virginia Woolf (1928) characterizes as “a room of one’s own”, Stephen stands out as a writer, but still goes through conflicts about her sexuality due to the conservative discourses of family, medicine, and religion, all of which affect her and prevent her from having a full lesbian existence.Neste artigo, analiso a obra O Poço da Solidão (1928), de Radclyffe Hall (1880-1943), a partir de seu contexto de publicação e da construção narrativa da protagonista Stephen em relação à lesbianidade. Levando em consideração que Stephen transgride as imposições dos papéis sexuais da socialização feminina, abordo as teorias desenvolvidas por Simone de Beauvoir (1949) e, posteriormente, Monique Wittig (1980), dentre outras. Ricardo Correa e a arte queer do fracasso: O caso “Fofão da Augusta”
Get PDFThe book Ricardo e Vânia: o maquiador, a garota de programa, o silicone e uma história de amor, by the journalist Chico Felitti, is a book report on Ricardo Correa, who became known as “Fofão da Augusta”, described by the author as someone who as “different for being ambitious, gay, artistic and schizophrenic. Not necessarily in that order”. Ricardo’s life illustrated what Jack Halberstam defines on the book The queer art of failure as the attitude and manner of being in the world that goes against heteronormativity, which imposes “success” as a life goal”. It also depicts the consequences of a historical discourse on deviant sexuality, as described by Michel Foucault. The book covers Felliti’s research to discover the history of a folkloric character he meets in the streets of São Paulo and knows only by his nickname. They meet in a wing for the destitute in Latin America’s largest hospital, Hospital das Clínicas. This article’s goal is, therefore, to relate Ricardo’s story, as told by Felitti, with the characteristics of failure as theorized by Halberstam.Ricardo e Vânia: o maquiador, a garota de programa, o silicone e uma história de amor, do jornalista Chico Felitti (2019), é um livro-reportagem sobre a história de Ricardo Correa, que se tornou conhecido como o Fofão da Augusta, descrito pelo autor como alguém “diferente por ser ambicioso, gay, artista e esquizofrênico. Não necessariamente nessa ordem”. A vida de Ricardo ilustra o que Jack Halberstam define no livro A arte queer do fracasso como aquela atitude e modo de estar no mundo que vai na contramão da normatividade hétero que tem o “sucesso” como objetivo de vida (2020, p. 20-21). Retrata também as consequências de uma construção discursiva histórica em torno de uma sexualidade desviante, a partir da visão de Michel Foucault (2012). O objetivo deste texto é, então, relacionar a história de Ricardo, contada por Felitti, com as características de fracasso teorizadas por Halberstam

No full textBuilding on the realization that literature has long favoured heteronormative expectations and worldviews, works have emerged with the purpose of discussing a “queer temporality”, including authors such as Jack Halberstam (2005), Elizabeth Freeman (2010), and Lee Edelman (2004). Following suit, we organized this contribution, in the form of a thematic section, which brings together a range of academic works related to sexual, gender and identity diversities not only in literary texts, but also in films and in other arts and media. The academy plays an important role by producing paratexts (books, essays, articles, and reviews) that discuss artistic works attuned to those diversities, inviting readers/spectators to rethink them and, as such, reiterating its political commitment.A partir da constatação de que a literatura por muito tempo privilegiou expectativas e visões de mundo heteronormativas, também foram lançadas obras com o propósito de discutir uma “temporalidade queer”, com destaque para escritores como Jack Halberstam (2005), Elizabeth Freeman (2010) e Lee Edelman (2004). Nessa direção, buscamos organizar uma contribuição, na forma deste número temático, que reúne uma gama de trabalhos acadêmicos relacionados às diversidades sexuais, de gênero e de identidade não somente em textos literários, mas também em filmes e em outras artes e mídias. Logo, a academia cumpre papel relevante ao produzir paratextos (livros, ensaios, artigos e resenhas) que discutem obras afinadas com essas diversidades, convidando seus leitores/espectadores a repensá-las, algo que reitera seu compromisso político
Escrita queer e subversão: Revisando a Potencialidade de Fan Fiction Slash

The main claim surrounding slash fan fiction concerns the queer and subversive motivations and potentials it is believed to actualize. In light of this, we have analyzed fifteen of the most popular works of slash fan fiction written by fans of the television series Supernatural (2005), Sherlock (2010), and Teen Wolf (2011), in order to discuss the perceived relationships between slash fan fiction and queer subversion.Fan fiction slash (ou ficção de fãs do tipo slash) vem sendo um dos focos do campo de Estudos de Fãs desde a década de 1970. Os principais argumentos sobre fan fiction slash dizem respeito às motivações e aos potenciais subversivos e queer que essas obras supostamente efetivam. Com isso em mente, o presente trabalho analisou quinze das mais populares obras de slash escritas por fãs das séries de televisão Supernatural (2005), Sherlock (2010) e Teen Wolf (2011) a fim de discutir as percepções das relações entre fan fiction slash e subversão queer
Pensando gênero na tradução de fanfictions femslash
Get PDFThis paper consists in selecting excerpts of queer themed fanfiction written in English and proposing solutions for their translation to Portuguese, along with comments on the possible effects of meaning that may be obtained. An analysis of the translations proposed for the eight discursive sequences targets the possible slips that may occur and highlight what they may imply to the reception of the queer Brazilian community. The analysis criteria were the presence of queer cultural references and the use of terms such as \u27gay\u27, \u27gayness\u27, \u27lesbian\u27, and \u27lesbianity\u27. Based on the examples analyzed, it is concluded that the solutions proposed for the translations present possible means for reproducing the queerness of the source text in the target text, making these elements visible to the target reader in an attempt to assure that their queerness is not lost in translation.Este trabalho consiste na seleção de trechos de fanfictions com temática queer escritas em inglês e na proposta de soluções tradutórias para o português dos trechos específicos, comentando possíveis efeitos de sentido que podem ser obtidos. Nas traduções propostas paras as oito sequências discursivas selecionadas, analisam-se os possíveis deslizamentos que podem ocorrer, apontando-se o que isso pode implicar na recepção da comunidade queer brasileira. Os recortes para a análise são a presença de referências culturais queer e o uso de termos como ‘gay’, ‘gayness’, ‘lesbian’ e ‘lesbianity’. Através dos exemplos analisados, conclui-se que as sugestões tradutórias aqui propostas apresentam possíveis meios de reproduzir na tradução o que há de queer no texto de partida, tendo como objetivo tornar esses elementos visíveis à leitora de chegada, de modo que o elemento queer não se perca na tradução
