Prison anterooms. Architectural dynamics and strategies in contexts of forced coexistence
[ENG] This paper approaches the study of Halden Prison from the architectural discipline through a compositional and functional analysis. It is based on the premise that the prison belongs to a penitentiary system focused on rehabilitation, mainly through the interactions between guards and inmates. Thus, the main objective of this essay is to detect to what extent the architectural design determines the dynamics between these agents. As a fundamental tool, a graphic docu¬ment composed of axonometries is elaborated to show possible scenarios within the spaces that make up this prison. The intrinsic relationship between the socio-political and cultural component with architecture, even more so in the complexity of the operation of a prison, will require an exa¬mination of the history and the factors that served as a prelude to make the Halden prison pos¬sible. This will facilitate gaining a reading ability and insight into the functioning of the physical spaces. For the same reason, a general review and classification of different prison models that were developed throughout history will be conducted. The research will be supported by various sources of information, such as graphic documents, books, interviews, articles, audiovisual and photographic sources.Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura y EdificaciónUniversidad Politécnica de Cartagen

Development of a cybersecurity service based on the detection of fraudulent IP addresses
[ENG] Libelium wants to explore tools and mechanisms for detecting malicious access to its IoT cloud services, where verifying the origin of IP addresses is crucial to ensuring security. A critical risk in this context is the obfuscation of the source IP address using VPNs, proxies or Tor networks, techniques that, while they can be used legitimately for privacy, also represent potential attack vectors. This project addresses the need to differentiate between corporate VPN access (secure) and anonymous or malicious connections (risky), in order to protect IoT devices and the sensitive data they manage. The main objective of the study is to analyse and classify cases of fraudulent IP use, evaluating scoring methods to detect and mitigate risks. To this end, an exhaustive search of commercial obfuscated IP detection services has been carried out, together with the implementation of VPN and proxy access prototypes for experimental testing. As a result, an advanced Python module has been developed that is capable of analysing traffic and classifying accesses according to their level of risk (legitimate IP, VPN, proxy or Tor). The results obtained recommend that Libelium use Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) tools to detect anomalous traffic patterns, combined with geolocation services such as IP2Location (94 % accuracy) and reputation databases such as VirusTotal. This multi-layered solution demonstrated 100 % effectiveness in detecting obfuscated access, far surpassing traditional methods based solely on IP lists. For critical IoT environments, it is suggested to implement DPI analysis before any reverse proxy, complemented by custom rules for specific protocols such as MQTT/CoAP.Programa Encuentro TFEscuela Técnica Superior de Ingeniería de TelecomunicaciónUniversidad Politécnica de Cartagen
The survey of ceramic coverings. Sicilian spires and Valencian domes in comparison
[ENG] Glazed ceramic elements, such as tiles, bricks, or shingles, are frequently used in Spain and Italy for the coverings of domes and spires, particularly in religious buildings. Examples include the blue-tiled domes in the Valencian Community and the polychrome wedge-brick spires of bell towers in Sicily. These two types of coverings and the architectural structures they protect have specific geometric, formal, and technical-structural characteristics that significantly influence the choice of the appropriate survey methodology. The aim of this study is to experiment with survey methodologies applicable to these coverings in order to develop a digitization strategy suitable for the understanding, documentation, and preservation of this architectural heritage. As case studies, the spires of the towers of the Maria Ss. Annunziata church in Acireale (Catania) and the dome of the Escuelas Pías in Valencia were examined. First, a historical-descriptive analysis of the case studies was conducted, focusing on the two architectural typologies, the underlying structures, and the surrounding environmental context. The features influencing the survey methods were analyzed in detail, including the presence of ceramic elements and the specific challenges of each structure: on one hand, the narrow, poorly lit, and hard-to-access spaces typical of towers topped by spires; on the other, the wide, elevated, and well-lit spaces characteristic of dome-covered buildings. The results were compared to provide the most suitable procedure for the protection and conservation of this architectural and environmental heritage.
Comparison of Autoencoders and Contrastive Learning for Glaucoma Classification Using OCT, Fundus, and Multimodal Images
Use of BIM methodology for the design process of a bridge with U-shaped girder deck using Revit and Sofistik bridge modeler
[ENG] This Master's Thesis proposes the comprehensive application of the BIM (Building Information Modeling) methodology to the 3D modeling and digital management of a bridge located over the Rambla del Ladrillar in Cartagena, Spain, featuring a prestressed concrete U-girder deck—an efficient structural typology commonly used in medium-span bridges. BIM-oriented software such as Autodesk Revit and the SOFiSTiK Bridge Modeler plugin was used to create an accurate parametric model that faithfully represents the structural geometry of the bridge and facilitates interdisciplinary coordination. This work not only addresses the three-dimensional representation of the bridge (BIM 3D), but also incorporates additional dimensions such as cost control (5D) through integration with the Arquímedes software by CYPE. This enables the automation of quantity take-offs and budget generation, supporting early-stage decision-making throughout the project lifecycle. Overall, the objective of this thesis is to demonstrate how the BIM methodology can significantly enhance efficiency, traceability, and sustainability in the design and management of linear infrastructure, contributing to improved planning, execution, and maintenance of complex civil engineering projects.Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingeniería de Caminos, Canales y Puertos y de Ingeniería de MinasUniversidad Politécnica de Cartagen

Transcriptions of spatiality avant-garde and architecture
[ENG] The trend towards dematerialisation and the infinite possibilities of dissemination characterising our reality have, as a side effect, reduced the image to a ‘disposable’ consumer good. These phenomena, by denying any need for slowness, interfere with the role of the image, as a revealer of compositions. Building on these premises, this review examines some of the works produced within the ‘Drawing of architecture with design workshop’ course, aiming to define multiple, renewed spatialities through observation and transcription.
Students were invited to individually interpret a work from the Soviet artistic avant-garde, a prolific exploration of form in space and its relationship with other forms, colours and textures. The first act was to consider the starting image as one of the possible views through double orthogonal projections or in pseudo-axonometry, a method that intrinsically aligns with the interpretative potential of these representations. The next step involved a further transcription process, from drawing to a physical model. Once the image had occupied its own spatiality, it needed to be translated into a photographic composition, sculpted by light and shaped by the interaction of transparency and opacity. The need to give new form to geometric abstractions stimulated reflection on the meaning of drawing within the territory of reality. The reinterpretation, shifting from the infinite space of the virtual to the finite space of the material-passing through the two-dimensional plane of the drawing board allowed for an exploration of the communicative possibilities of the representation tools. The resulting spatialities and photographic views highlight the theme of the image and its relationship with its double. A reverberation of ‘simulacra’ changing shape to generate layered images, evoking the observation of new objects, new images and new spaces.
