Factors Influencing Social Workers' Relationship to Their Clients: A Test of Social Psychological Theories
The study examines the application of general social psychological theories on the development of relationships between people (mere exposure effect, similarity-attraction effect, triangular theory of love) to the special case of the relationship between counselor and client. Two hundred and twenty-eight social workers from Germany took part in the online survey on their relationship with their clients. The results show that (1) the degree of familiarity with clients increases with the frequency of contact with them, (2) the degree of perceived similarity with clients increases with the quality of the relationship, and (3) social workers' tendency to experience romantic feelings toward clients is influenced by the desire for emotional and physical closeness and the willingness to form a long-term commitment. Finally, the implications of the results for shaping the relationship in social work are discussed
TreeSeg - A Toolbox for Fully Automated Tree Crown Segmentation Based on High-Resolution Multispectral UAV Data
Single-tree segmentation on multispectral UAV images shows significant potential for effective forest management such as automating forest inventories or detecting damage and diseases when using an additional classifier. We propose an automated workflow for segmentation on high-resolution data and provide our trained models in a Toolbox for ArcGIS Pro on our GitHub repository for other researchers. The database used for this study consists of multispectral UAV data (RGB, NIR and red edge bands) of a forest area in Germany consisting of a mix of tree species consisting of five deciduous trees and three conifer tree species in the matured closed canopy stage at approximately 90 years. Information of NIR and Red Edge bands are evaluated for tree segmentation using different vegetation indices (VIs) in comparison to only using RGB information. We trained Faster R-CNN, Mask R-CNN, TensorMask and SAM in several experiments and evaluated model performance on different data combinations. All models with the exception of SAM show good performance on our test data with the Faster R-CNN model trained on the red and green bands and the Normalized Difference Red Edge Index (NDRE) achieving best results with an F1-Score of 83.5% and an Intersection over Union of 65.3% on highly detailed labels. All models are provided in our TreeSeg toolbox and allow the user to apply the pre-trained models on new data
Using Brief Habit Reversal to Decrease Speech Disfluencies in Public Speaking
Purpose: Many social workers are concerned about public speaking because of their use of speech disfluencies. Perrin et al. (2021) used brief habit reversal to reduce public-speaking speech disfluencies. The study was systematically replicated to evaluate the benefit of brief habit reversal training for social workers in decreasing speech disfluencies. Method: Nine students of social work, divided into three groups, participated in this study. After baseline, they received brief habit reversal, consisting of awareness training and instruction on a competing response. Results: The results showed that compared to baseline, all participants reduced speech disfluencies during brief habit reversal. The low rates of speech disfluencies were maintained during postsessions. At follow-up 2.5 to 6 weeks after training, six of nine participants achieved a reduction of at least 80 percent from baseline. Discussion: To further adapt the training to the field of social workers, further research would be necessary
Evaluating the Influence of External Compensators on Chopped Impulse Waves in Power Transformer Testing
Applying lightning impulse tests on high-voltage transformers plays a crucial role in evaluating their insulation system. The performance of the dielectric system in newly produced power transformers must satisfy the requirements of both full and chopped wave tests. To conduct these tests, standard full and chopped impulses are generated using the well-known Marx generator. The wave shape parameters of these impulses must fulfil the requirements that are specified in international standards such as IEC 60076. The excessive voltage collapse rate as well as the high amplitude of the first peak of the resulting overswing following the chopping time, highly stress the dielectric system of the power transformers. To resolve these issues, external elements may be added to the chopping circuit. These additional elements are essential in stabilizing the waveform by preventing excessive voltage collapse rate and controlling the peak of the first swing after chopping.
Furthermore, some transformers with high power ratings may possess windings with very low inductance or high capacitance, which can undesirably impact the shape and parameters of the resulting full wave. To address these critical situations and bring the full wave parameters within the allowed limits, engineers in high-voltage laboratories employ some compensators like the Glaninger circuit in impulse circuits. It is important to study the effects of such compensators on chopped impulse parameters.
This paper aims to investigate the impact of the mentioned external elements and compensators on the parameters of the chopped wave impulses. Specifically, the study focuses on assessing the influence of these compensators on voltage collapse and the peak amplitude of the first swing after chopping. By analyzing and understanding these effects, researchers and engineers can gain valuable insights into the performance and optimization of lightning impulse tests on power transformers, ultimately contributing to the advancement of high-voltage laboratory practices
Enttabuisierung) Aspekte betreffen
