[論文] 『民立報』からみる辮髪男性のイメージ
Get PDF本稿は清末民初に上海で発行されていた『民立報』を用い、当時の辮髪をめぐる言説や辮髪や辮髪を保とうとする男性に関する記事を分析したものである。『民立報』は、同盟会中部会の機関紙として革命派のテーゼである剪辮論(辮髪を剪ること)を宣伝する一方で、記事や投稿の中では、辮髪男性を戯画的風刺的に描写している。しかし、そこからは辮髪男性の内面の声もうかがえる。 辮髪は、それを保とうとする男性にとっては、「ご先祖から引き継いだ」ものであり、村落社会で生き続けていく「個人としての証明」でもあった。筆者は辮髪保持の要因をこうした祖先との「縦」のつながりと村落社会での「横」のつながりによるものと考えている。強制剪辮事件を報道する記事において、辮髪を無理やり剪られた男性は、泣いたり怒鳴ったりして激しいリアクションを見せ、喧嘩で死に至るケースもみられる。『民立報』は、「国家」や「民族」といったような近代的概念をもとに剪髪を推進し、進歩的女性もまた剪髪を支持したが、辮髪男性の多くは、下層社会を生きる者であり、「国家」や「民族」よりも「村落社会」と「祖先」との連結を重視していた。============================================================================== This article analyzes articles related to queue and men who continue having queue from the journal, Min Li Pao , published from 1910 to 1913. Created by the Revolutionary, Tongmenghui , Min Li Pao posted essays related to revolution and happenings occurred around China. Among these revolutionary theses, men who remained their queue are often depicted with the elements of caricature. However, one can find how ordinary men really thought about their queue, and what queue meant to them. It turns out that ordinary male usually talked about queues associate with their ancestors, livelihood and faces (or honor). Cutting queues were seen as betrayal to their ancestors, and extremely probable to lose chance to live or even to lose connect with others. These two factors consist of a vertical connection to ancestors) and a horizontal connection within the village in explaining queue-cutting refusal of ordinary male. On ththe other hand, one can see men whose queue was cut by others usually showed their fury, distress, and backlash, and bloodshed even happened sometimes. These men were living in lower class with no knowledge about nation frequently talked by Min Li Pao and the intelligent. They knew nothing but everything in their village. Queue was the bond of tying with ancestors and the others, therefore, to lose queue is to lose these important connections in life.departmental bulletin pape

Get PDFIn recent years, the need for competency when it comes to comprehending and integrating information from multiple texts is growing more important. The goal of integration from multiple documents is typically to compose coherent, eaningful representations of a topic or issue shared by available sources. This article reviews research and theory concerning integration from multiple texts, focusing especially on three diff erent facets of reading multiple documents: cognitive processing, the reader's affective stance on a topic, and the reader's epistemic belief. Moreover, as orientation for further research, needs for considering the various relations among multiple documents are discussed. Most of the previous studies in this area have targeted reader comprehension in situations where the relation among multiple texts is confl icting or contradictory, which is limiting because people also encounter multiple sources involving relations that are complementary or in agreement over the course of daily reading activity. A few studies have suggested that two types of multiple-document relation, confl icting and complementary, diff er in terms of the cognitive processing involved in comprehension of the author's viewpoint, the recognition of links between the contents and the sources, and the length of reading time. Therefore, when people read multiple texts that have various types of relation, how do individual variables such as affective stance and epistemic belief affect comprehension? 「神人合一」という観念の伝統:植芝盛平の武道論をめぐって
Get PDFIn the Budō theory of Morihei Ueshiba (1883-1969), the founder of Aikido, the unity of God and man is referred at by expressions like“ shinjin-gōitsu", as the way to the realization of the“ true Budō". The word“ aiki" in Aikidō, can be considered a synonym for this idea. The expression“ union of God and man" is associated with mysticism and is a concept found in both Eastern and Western faiths and religions. However, the extent to which mystical experience can be verbalized is also very much a matter of debate, and is evident in the diffi culty when we try to deal with and interpret such texts. This diffi culty is also evident in the texts written by Ueshiba. Precedents in the history of Japanese thought show us that there are multiple understandings of “shinjin-gōitsu". One is that of a person's religious initiation and intimate mystical interaction with the deity. Other is linked to loyalty to the Emperor, which appears as a social and institutional phenomenon rather than a religious one. Most of the references to this phenomenon have in common a reference to the old texts of Kojiki and Nihonshoki, specifi cally the“ Jindaikan", in which the myths of the origin of Japan are narrated. In the same line, in many of Morihei Ueshiba's writings, ideas borrowed from the religious and philosophical sphere are applied to martial arts theory. Among these there is the concept expressed by “shinjin-gōitsu" and similar terms. Looking back at the history of Japanese thought, we can see that there are multiple understandings around this concept. In this article, I review the ideological background of Morihei Ueshiba's theory of Budō, focusing on the precedent theorizations dealing with the problem of the relation between man and God and the expression“ shinjin-gōitsu".departmental bulletin pape
