Applicability of environmental DNA metabarcoding for the hyporheic zone of a stream bed
No full textHyporheic zones play a crucial role in ecological processes primarily orchestrated by hyporheic organisms, known as hyporheos. Our understanding of riverine biodiversity, encompassing hyporheic zones, remains limited. Therefore, the development of a method for the facile and accurate detection of hyporheic communities is imperative. Thus, we evaluated the applicability of environmental DNA (eDNA) metabarcoding surveys in the hyporheic zone in a small stream in Japan. We conducted simultaneous direct sampling and eDNA surveys at two different locations (head and tail of a rapid and a bar) and during two different seasons (less and more disturbed periods). Subsequently, we compared the outcomes of these sampling methods, locations, and seasons. Through eDNA metabarcoding targeting the cytochrome-c oxidase subunit I (COI) regions, we successfully identified a diverse array of hyporheic and benthic taxa in all samples. Remarkably, the performance of eDNA metabarcoding was comparable to the identification of directly sampled benthos and hyporheos. We observed a 62%–78% concordance between direct sampling and eDNA metabarcoding. Notably, eDNA metabarcoding revealed a higher number of hyporheic taxa compared to direct sampling. Moreover, the relative detectability of hyporheos by eDNA metabarcoding differed between the seasons, unlike direct sampling. Our findings underscore the importance of conducting both eDNA surveys and direct sampling to comprehensively assess the composition of the stream community while accounting for seasonal variations. This study demonstrates the utility of eDNA metabarcoding as a non-destructive approach for investigating the hyporheic zone, enabling a more effective assessment of riverine biodiversity.journal articl

Get PDFThe purpose of this paper is to examine how the colony of "Taiwan" was communicated to the general public in the suzerain country Japan by focusing on Taiwanese tea house in Ginza. Taiwan was the first colony acquired by Japan. However, very few Japanese had actually visited there. Therefore, most Japanese had no choice but to experience colonial Taiwan within Japan. In this situation, the Taiwan pavilions at the expositions were the places to understand the colony and be aware of the position as a suzerain citizen. Another example was a Taiwanese tea house in Ginza. A newspaper of the time praised it as conveying "Taiwan" to the Japanese people better than the Taiwan Governor-General's Office did. The Taiwanese tea house had been operated in Ginza for about 25 years since 1905. Oolong tea, a specialty of Taiwan, was the signature menu item. It is said that Shinpei Goto, director of civil administration, Government-General was involved in the establishment of this tea house. Also the Governor-General's Of ice subsidized to the tea house. The tea house had a Chinese-style exterior and interior. However, the restaurant also had Western elements, for example a piano was settled and French foods were served. The maintenance and development of a colony requires a sense of superiority and familiarity with the colony by the people of the suzerain state. However, these two feelings are sometimes contradictory and difficult to arouse at the same time. In this respect, expositions and the Taiwanese tea house in Ginza played complementary roles. The Taiwanese tea house in Ginza, as an exposition that seeped into ordinary urban space, played the role of arousing a sense of familiarity with the colony and of spreading the new territory of "Taiwan" among the people.departmental bulletin pape
自閉症スペクトラム障害児における「こだわり」の生成と変容プロセスの検討
Get PDFRestricted and repetitive behaviors (RRBs) represent a heterogeneous class of behaviors and are core feature of autism spectrum disorders. RRBs include motor stereotypies, preoccupation with objects, insistence on sameness, restricted interests, ritualistic behaviors, sensory hypo- and hyper-reactivity, as well as unusual sensory interests. This study examined the transformation process of RRBs in music play. The main results were as follow. First, in the transformation process of RRBs in a child with autism spectrum disorders, 3 levels were extracted. Second, Sameness Behavior and Ritualistic Behavior strongly influenced the transformation process. Third, appearance of interests in new play reduced RRBs. Forth, decreased RRBs changed the quality of interaction with adlts. The clinical implications of these findings are discussed.departmental bulletin pape
沢野井信夫の「あそび」を活かした美術教育の構想(3) :著作『版画のいろいろ - 版画あそび』の分析を中心に
Get PDF本稿は、沢野井信夫(1916-1990)の美術教育の構想に関する継続研究の一報である。沢野井は学校教育に直接関わった人物ではないが、一連の「あそび」著作は、自らの芸術体験をふまえた美術教育の構想と捉えることができる。本稿では、これまでの成果をふまえて沢野井の美術教育構想を考察するために、その著作である『版画のいろいろ- 版画あそび』(1960 年)の内容分析を行った。『版画のいろいろ』の内容構成は、前稿で分析した『新しい絵あそび』に比べて具体的な「題材」の占める割合が下がっていたが、これは版画に欠かせない技法や用具に関する内容があるためであった。しかし、内容や挿入画像から判断すると、『新しい絵あそび』と重なる内容が多く、その趣旨も継承されていることを確認した。また「題材」では、「つくった版を手や足などで押す」スタンプタイプの版画が全体の1/4 を、「型紙を作り上から絵の具をつけるタイプ」の版画が全体の1/5 を、それぞれ占めた。子供にとって取り組みやすい材料や内容を中核においていることを確認した。departmental bulletin pape
