Size-Control Synthesis and Luminescence Properties of Eu(III) Coordination Particles
The particle-size-controlled synthesis and photophysical properties of Eu(III) coordination polymers [Eu(hfa)_3(m-dpb)]_n (hfa: hexafluoroacetylacetonato, m-dpb: 1,3-bis(diphenylphosphoryl)benzene) were reported. The Eu(III) coordination polymers were prepared by complexation of [Eu(hfa)_3(H_2O)_2] and the linker m-dpb ligand in an aqueous micelle solution using cationic CTAB (cetyltrimethylammonium bromide) and anionic SDS (sodium dodecyl sulfate) surfactants. The size of Eu(III) coordination polymers was gradually decreased by increasing CTAB concentrations. The crystal structure formed in a micelle system was different from bulk coordination polymers. The Eu(III) coordination particles showed a smaller nonradiative rate constant than bulk coordination polymers. In this study, size control and luminescence properties of the Eu(III) coordination particles have been demonstrated. This work was supported by JSPS KAKENHI Grant Numbers JP20H02748, JP20K21201, JP21K18969, JP22H02152, JP22H04516, JP22K14741, and JP23K17925 of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT) of Japan. Properties of Composite Electrodes for All-solid-state Fluoride-ion Secondary Batteries Processed by High-pressure Torsion
All-solid-state fluoride-ion batteries (FIBs) using metal/metal fluorides are expected to be the next generation of storage batteries because they exhibit high volumetric energy densities by utilizing multielectron reactions, compared to the current lithium-ion batteries. However, method of fabricating a composite electrode for all-solid-state fluoride-ion batteries has not yet been established. A fabrication method for a composite electrode that disperses the active material and solid electrolyte is required. To approach this problem, in this study, we employed a high-pressure torsion (HPT) method, in which an active material, solid electrolyte, and conductive agent can be mixed with size reduction, as a new process and prepared Cu (active material)/PbSnF4 (solid electrolyte)/acetylene black (conductive agent) cathode composites. The crystalline sizes of Cu and PbSnF4 were significantly reduced. The apparent grain boundary resistance was also reduced owing to the more homogeneous distribution in the cathode composites after HPT processing. These structural and morphological changes led to high electrochemical performances, compared to a cathode composite without HPT.journal articl
Potassium-rich antiperovskites K3HTe and K3FTe and their structural relation to lithium and sodium counterparts
Unlike perovskite oxides, antiperovskites M3HCh and M3FCh (M = Li, Na; Ch = S, Se, Te) mostly retain their ideal cubic structure over a wide range of compositions owing to anionic size flexibility and low-energy phonon modes that promote their ionic conductivity. In this study, we show the synthesis of potassium-based antiperovskites K3HTe and K3FTe and discuss the structural features in comparison with lithium and sodium analogues. It is shown experimentally and theoretically that both compounds maintain a cubic symmetry and can be prepared at ambient pressure, in contrast to most of the reported M3HCh and M3FCh which require high pressure synthesis. A systematic comparison of a series of cubic M3HTe and M3FTe (M = Li, Na, K) revealed that telluride anions contract in the order of K, Na, Li, with a pronounced contraction in the Li system. This result can be understood in terms of the difference in charge density of alkali metal ions as well as the size flexibility of Ch anions, contributing to the stability of the cubic symmetry.journal articl
