In an increasingly digitized educational landscape, this Master's Dissertation proposes an innovative educational experience based on Project-Based Learning (PBL) within the Health Promotion module of the Vocational Training Program for Pharmacy and Parapharmacy Technicians . The initiative aims to boost student motivation and participation through the design and management of social media profiles as a final product, thus bringing curricular content closer to the student's tangible reality, while contributing to the development of both technical and soft skills. In this process, the teacher assumes a fundamental role as a guide, facilitator, and designer of learning experiences that support and challenge the student. The continuous assessment integrates self-assessment, co-assessment, and hetero-assessment, with a special focus on reflection and the improvement of the learning process. This dissertation seeks to demonstrate the feasibility of aligning Vocational Education and Training (VET) with an emerging methodological approach that effectively prepares students for the complex social and professional challenges of the 21st century, in addition to contributing to the existing literature in the field of VET.Máster Universitario en Profesorado de Educación Secundaria por la Universidad Pública de NavarraBigarren Hezkuntzako Irakasletzako Unibertsitate Masterra Nafarroako Unibertsitate Publikoa

    No full text
Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) stands as one of the major public health challenges in Ecuador, with a growing incidence in urban settings such as the city of Cuenca. Factors such as physical inactivity, poor dietary habits, and rapid urbanization have significantly contributed to the rise in cases, particularly among young adults. In response to this issue, the present Master's Thesis proposes the design and implementation of a prevention program targeted at individuals aged 30 to 44 who are at high risk of developing T2DM, employing community-based, technological, and educational strategies within the context of primary healthcare. The program includes tools such as the FINDRISC risk assessment test, a selfmanagement mobile application (CuencaDiab), face-to-face workshops, and personalized follow-up, aiming to promote healthy lifestyles, improve early detection, and strengthen adherence to preventive practices. The proposal also aspires to be replicable in other regions of the country and adaptable to diverse population contexts. This initiative aligns with the World Health Organization’s (WHO) guidelines for addressing non-communicable diseases and advocates for intersectoral coordination among the health, education, and local government sectors. It emphasizes the need for sustained funding, as well as robust evaluation and continuous improvement mechanisms to ensure its long-term effectiveness and impact.Máster Universitario en Salud Pública por la Universidad Pública de NavarraOsasun Publikoko Unibertsitate Masterra Nafarroako Unibertsitate Publikoa

Hope-promoting communication with pediatric patients with chronic diseases and their families: a scoping review

    No full text
Introduction: The way communication is conducted directly influences the professional-patient relationship, how patients cope with their diagnosis, and their sense of hope throughout treatment. This study aims to map the literature on strategies that healthcare professionals can use to promote hope in communication with pediatric patients and their families in the context of chronic illness. Based on this objective, the study highlights an algorithm to assist healthcare professionals in instilling hope in this population through communication. Design: Scoping review. Methods: This systematized review was conducted using the databases PubMed, LILACS, PsycInfo, Embase, CINAHL, and Scopus, employing the PCC framework and the Boolean operators AND and OR. The time frame was limited to the last 20 years (2004-2024). A total of 734 studies were identified across the databases, with an additional four retrieved through manual citation searches, resulting in 19 articles included in the final sample. Results: The findings highlight three key pillars for promoting hope in communication: (1) careful preparation for information delivery, which involves identifying the diverse needs of families and creating a physically comfortable and emotionally supportive environment; (2) providing information and emphasizing how it is presented-considering content, clarity, honesty, empathy, and adaptation to the recipient's specific needs; and (3) follow-up after information delivery, ensuring emotional support and active, skilled listening. Conclusions: Interpersonal communication between the healthcare professional, the patient, and the family was mainly focused on the transmission of information about the disease and treatment in a clear and empathetic manner, considering who is receiving the information and how the information is interpreted. Clinical Relevance: This review provides guidance for healthcare professionals in implementing communication strategies that foster hope in the context of pediatric chronic illness. Additionally, this guide may serve as a model for training students and healthcare professionals. Further research is needed to implement and explore additional effective communication strategies for this population across diverse cultural settings. This work was supported by Programa Institucional de Bolsas de Iniciaçao Científica and Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico, 309528/2021-6

Admissible orders for closed intervals of real numbers not based on the extremes of the intervals

    No full text
Due to its reasonable properties, the Kulisch and Miranker binary relation on the family of all closed and bounded real intervals has attracted the attention of many researchers, especially in the field of Computation. However, it is not total, so there are intervals that are not comparable. To face this problem, Bustince et al. introduced the notion of admissible order, which is coherent to the Kulisch and Miranker binary relation. Due to its technical construction, most of the examples of admissible orders are defined by only employing the extremes of such intervals. In this paper we introduce a non-countable family of admissible orders in the set of all closed and bounded subintervals contained in a concrete closed and bounded real interval. The approach is novel in two senses: on the one hand, due to the mathematical objects that are involved (a dense sequence and a family of continuous functions); and, on the other hand, we do not handle the intervals through their extremes, but only by their interior points. This work is part of the project I+D+i C-EXP-153-UGR23, supported by Consejería de Universidad, Investigación e Innovación of the Junta de Andalucía and by the European Union through the Program FEDER Andalucía 2021-2027. Going beyond the so-called child graphic stereotype in primary education

    No full text
This project addresses the reasons why the subject of Visual Arts Education is often perceived as a less relevant discipline in comparison to other core areas of the educational curriculum. Currently, there is a widespread belief that this subject does not lead to tangible or meaningful outcomes, which limits its value within the education system and in society as a whole. In this way, this work bases its analysis on the problem of the so-called “child's graphic stereotype”. Therefore, it aims to change this issue and to demonstrate, through the design, implementation and evaluation of five didactic sessions developed with students of 2 nd year of Primary Education, that it is possible to achieve meaningful changes when the teaching intervention is planned and executed with pedagogical intention, dedication and methodological coherence. The importance of considering the children’s interests and learning objectives is highlighted, promoting a dynamic balance between saying, doing and seeing as fundamental pillars of the educational process in the artistic area.Graduado o Graduada en Maestro en Educación Infantil/Graduado o Graduada en Maestro en Educación Primaria por la Universidad Pública de Navarra (Programa Internacional)Haur Hezkuntzako Irakasletzan Graduatua edo Lehen Hezkuntzako Irakasletzan Graduatua Nafarroako Unibertsitate Publikoa

Assessing well-being in younger populations in economic evaluations: a scoping review of multidimensional instruments

    No full text
Background To comprehensively evaluate health care interventions in younger populations, outcome measurement in economic evaluation may need to be expanded beyond health-related quality of life to include well-being. However, whether appropriate well-being instruments exist for children remains uncertain. This study provides a systematic overview of multidimensional well-being instruments for children and assesses their potential applicability for economic evaluation. Methods This scoping review was reported following the PRISMA-ScR guidelines. The search strategy included terms related to "well-being," "child or adolescent," and "instrument", and was implemented in four electronic databases, yielding a total of 9622 articles. Two reviewers independently screened articles with ASReview, a machine-learningbased tool for expediting screening, and manually extracted information from relevant articles. Findings were synthesized narratively, highlighting consistency and discrepancies, as well as potential suitability for economic evaluation (using multiple criteria). Results Twentyfive studies were included, published between 1993 and 2024. On average, instruments assessed well-being with five dimensions and 38 questions. Common dimensions included physical, health, school, satisfaction, relationship(s), emotional and self. Dimensions that capture children’s daily experiences, such as family, achievement, education and after-school activities were frequently considered. Conclusion The review highlights the variety of well-being instruments for children. Although many instruments measure well-being comprehensively, only ICECAP-CYP fit all criteria for suitability for economic evaluation. The small number of potentially suitable instruments highlights a growing yet still insufficient interest in moving beyond traditional HRQoL assessments in younger populations. Keywords Paediatric well-being, Multidimensional assessment, Well-being instrument, Economic evaluation, Systematic scoping review. This publication is part of the 'Feeling good, despite illness; Accessible eHealth supporting the well-being of chronically ill children.
