Hubertine Auclert and deconstruction of female madness in suffragette discourse: translational considerations from a feminist perspective.

    No full text
Aware of this influence, some translatological currents have for decades advocated fora feminist translation that makes women visible and projects a positive image of the female sex. In her essay Le vote des femmes(1908), Hubertine Auclert, the first French suffragette, decisively and logically refuted the arguments traditionally used to deny women the vote. In her fight for women's political rights, Auclert defended the intellectual capacity of her gender and combated the prevailing 19thcentury prejudices that linked the ‘weaker sex’ with mental instability. This paper presents Auclerts line of argument concerning the female psyche and proposes feminist translation strategies for translating the work into Spanish

This study analyzed how cooperation-opposition sports games (COSG) influence emotional experiences and the perception of cheating among university students in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences. The aim was to examine the impact of the outcome (victory or defeat) and competition on emotions and moral judgments regarding deviant motor behaviors, to inform Physical Education teaching. A total of 231 students participated (Women: M = 21.50, SD = 1.98; Men: M = 21.76, SD = 2.79) in a quasi-experimental design. After six COSG sessions with and without competition, participants completed the GES-II questionnaire (emotional perception) and CONFLICT-1 AGE (perception of the agent generating motor conflict), generating 1,386 records. Non-parametric tests were used for analysis. Results showed that victory was associated with joy and greater justification of one's own cheating, whereas defeat triggered anger and sadness, along with a stronger perception of injustice regarding others' actions. A discrepancy was also observed between self-perception of cheating and attribution to others, particularly after losing. It is concluded that Physical Education should incorporate strategies that promote reflective emotional development and a critical understanding of fair play.

To access the final edited and published work see https://doi.org/10.1109/ISPASS64960.2025.00045Word-wise Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE) schemes, such as CKKS, are gaining significant traction due to their ability to provide post-quantum-resistant, privacypreserving approximate computing—an especially desirable feature in the Machine-Learning-as-a-Service (MLaaS) paradigm. In this work, we introduce FIDESlib, the first open-source server-side CKKS GPU library that is fully interoperable with well-established client-side OpenFHE operations. Unlike other existing open-source GPU libraries, FIDESlib provides the first implementation featuring heavily optimized GPU kernels for all CKKS primitives, including bootstrapping. Our library also integrates robust benchmarking and testing, ensuring it remains adaptable to further optimization. Comparing our scheme against Phantom (the previously top open-source CKK library, we show that FIDESlib offers superior performance and scalability. For bootstrapping, FIDESlib achieves no less than 70× speedup over the AVX-optimized OpenFHE implementation. FIDESlib is available on Github

Arte ecosocial y expografía : prácticas artísticas situadas, procesos participativos y activación comunitaria

    No full text
This doctoral thesis addresses the role of art and exhibition spaces in the current context of ecological and social crisis, asking what contributions ecosocial artistic practices, integrated into spaces such as museums and ecomuseums, may offer. The work is based on an ecofeminist approach that understands the climate crisis as a complex phenomenon in which environmental, social, political, and relational dimensions are interrelated. From this perspective, art is proposed as a situated practice which has the potential to open up processes of listening, care, and reciprocity. The research combines theoretical analysis with practical experimentation through several projects developed between 2022 and 2025: Ceniza y raíces, Me gustan los tiburones, aunque nunca los he visto, Essere parte del fiume and Cartografiar el Río Mundo, which have operated as laboratories for artistic mediation, community participation and territorial action. These cases, together with a review of the experiences of contemporary artists and museum practices, have made it possible to identify tensions and possibilities in ecosocial art as a tool for collective awareness and action, linking them to the exhibition space. Among the main contributions are the formulation of a flexible methodology for the design of eco-social art projects, the proposal of regenerative curatorship as a model for museum action in times of crisis, and the adaptation of Douglas Worts' Inside–Outside model as a self-assessment system. Taken as a whole, the research demonstrates how ecosocial art, in dialogue with museums and ecomuseums, can not only highlight the effects of climate collapse, but also generate experiences that emphasise the role of culture in the ecosocial transition and outline avenues for future research and practice

Tetrahydropalmatine promotes macrophage autophagy by inhibiting the AMPK/mTOR pathway to attenuate atherosclerosis

    No full text
Background. Atherosclerosis (AS) is a chronic progressive arterial disease that is associated with macrophage autophagy and AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK)/mechanistic target of the rapamycin (mTOR) pathway. Tetrahydropalmatine (THP) can activate AMPK-dependent autophagy. We aim to study the mechanism of macrophage autophagy mediated by THP in the treatment of AS via the AMPK/mTOR pathway. Methods. High-fat diet apolipoprotein E-deficient mice and ox-LDL-induced RAW264.7 cells were used to mimic the AS model, then THP was administered. Cell viability was detected by MTT. Pathological aorta lesions were detected using Hematoxylin and Eosin, Masson, and oil red staining. Lipid metabolism indices and inflammatory factors were measured using ELISA. A transmission electron microscope was used to observe autophagosomes. Autophagy and AMPK/mTOR pathway protein expression was detected by immunofluorescence and Western blot. The AMPK inhibitor 9-β-d-Arabinofuranosyl Adenine (Ara-A) was used to validate the effect of THP. The mRNA expression of Beclin-1 and MCP-1 was detected by q-PCR. Results. THP administration regulated lipid metabolism by lowering total cholesterol, triacy-lglycerol, low-density lipoprotein, and high-density lipoprotein levels, and suppressed aortic damage. THP suppressed aortic damage and regulated lipid metabolism by altering serum lipid levels. THP reduced inflammation and macrophage CD68 expression. Twenty μg/mL THP reduced cell viability. THP decreased cholesterol uptake and increased efflux, promoting autophagy. THP increased autophagosome number, LC3B expression, and autophagy markers p-AMPK/AMPK and LC3-II/LC3-I. THP also decreased p-mTOR/mTOR and P62. THP increased Beclin-1 mRNA expression and decreased MCP-1 mRNA expression. Ara-A reversed THP's effects. Conclusion. THP promotes macrophage autophagy by inhibiting the AMPK/mTOR pathway to attenuate AS

    No full text
Bacterial resistance to antibiotics has emerged as one of the most serious threats to global public health, as it compromises the effectiveness of conventional treatments and leads to an alarming increase in morbidity, mortality, and healthcare costs. This situation has been exacerbated by the indiscriminate use of antibiotics in both human and veterinary medicine, self-medication without medical supervision, and the ability of bacteria to exchange resistance genes through horizontal gene transfer mechanisms. In response to this scenario, the search for new therapeutic strategies has intensified, with antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) standing out as a viable and promising alternative. AMPs are small proteins with activity against a wide variety of pathogens, including bacteria, fungi, viruses, and even tumor cells. These molecules are notable for being thermostable, minimally toxic to eukaryotic cells, and for acting through mechanisms different from traditional antibiotics, which significantly reduces the likelihood of resistance emerging. Although AMPs have been identified in various groups of organisms, arthropods represent an especially interesting source due to their biological diversity and constant exposure to hostile microbial environments. This study began with the analysis of the gut microbiota of two insect species: Periplaneta americana and Zophobas morio, reared at the insectary of the University of Murcia and the spin-off company Arthropotech SL. The aim was to detect bacterial communities with multidrug resistance profiles. The results revealed a high presence of bacterial communities resistant to multiple antibiotics, some of which could have implications for human health due to their ecological proximity to urban and domestic environments. This finding motivated the search for alternative therapeutic strategies. Based on these findings, efforts were directed toward the identification and experimental validation of AMPs in different arthropods. In the tiger beetle Calomera littoralis, peptides such as CliCecB2 and Clit-Def were identified, showing efficacy against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. In parallel, bioinformatic studies were conducted on the genomes of Tuta absoluta and Hermetia illucens, which allowed the prediction of new candidate AMP sequences. These were later synthesized and evaluated in vitro, confirming their ability to inhibit the growth of multidrug-resistant bacteria. In addition, the therapeutic potential of scorpion venom, traditionally associated with toxicity, was explored. Attention was focused on non-disulfide-bridged peptides (NDBPs), which were synthesized and subjected to in vitro assays against resistant bacterial strains. The results showed remarkable antimicrobial activity. Overall, this work provides a comprehensive view of the problem of bacterial multidrug resistance and the experimental efforts made to identify innovative solutions. The results support the use of arthropods as a promising source of antimicrobial compounds and position AMPs derived from insects and scorpions as valuable tools to address one of the main challenges in modern medicine
