The representation of entrepreneurship in people with disabilities: a discourse analysis

    No full text
The aim of this paper is to identify the main moderating aspects of entrepreneurship in people with disabilities in Spain in relation to the main explanatory theories on the subject via a discourse analysis of a group of entrepreneurs and qualified witnesses. Several key elements were identified in this analysis: physical, accessible, and familial. Attention to these aspects will contribute to the empowerment of a group at a clear disadvantage compared to others without disabilities in the entrepreneurial processes. This research proposes the acquisition, stimulation, and development of a set of knowledge, skills, and abilities (competencies) together with a greater commitment on the part of the Public Administration and awareness of society in order to reverse the current starting conditions of this group

Influence of age and sex on platelet count: implications for optimizing growth factor-rich plasma preparation

    No full text
Background: Growth factor-rich plasma (GFRP) is a biomedical procedure used to promote tissue regeneration. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) contains higher-than-average platelet concentrations and includes platelet-derived growth factors. As an autologous blood derivative, it is widely used to enhance healing and tissue regeneration . In dentistry, GFRP accelerates soft tissue healing and bone regeneration in procedures such as complex extractions, bone grafts, cyst treatments, and to improve dental implant osseointegration. Objective: To assess the potential influence of age and sex on platelet count, with the aim of optimizing the standardization of therapies involving growth factors. Material and Methods: A cross-sectional, observational, and comparative study was conducted, including a total of 384 patients. Participants were stratified into six groups based on age. From their medical records, the platelet counts obtained from analyses meeting the established inclusion criteria were recorded. Subsequently, the distribution of platelet levels was analyzed according to age groups and sex. Additionally, the potential correlation between platelet count and age was evaluated. Results: The mean platelet count was higher in women (260.9 ± 65.9 x10³/μL) than in men (250.4 ± 62.0 x10³/μL), although the difference was not statistically significant (p = 0.113). A statistically significant negative correlation was found between age and platelet count (r = -0.175; p < 0.01), indicating that platelet count decreases with age, although the correlation coefficient was low. Conclusions: Platelet count varies across the population; therefore, blood extraction for PRP preparation should be adjusted based on age group and sex

    No full text
This article analyzes how the Spanish press represented Palestinian armed actions carried out in Italy between 1973 and 1985, focusing on key incidents such as the Fiumicino attacks, the assault on the Rome synagogue, the Achille Lauro hijacking, and the Sigonella crisis. The main objective is to examine the role of the media as a producer of political discourse surrounding international terrorism, by exploring how the figure of the Palestinian militant was constructed and which narratives dominated the coverage. The methodology combines critical discourse analysis (van Dijk) with transnational approaches (Saunier, Clavin) and incorporates theoretical reflections on media representation and memory (Ricoeur, Zelizer, Assmann). The study examines articles from ABC, El País, La Vanguardia, and Diario de Las Palmas, comparing ideological positions and rhetorical strategies. The article is structured into thematic sections corresponding to each event, providing a chronological framework that helps identify recurring narratives, shifts in tone, and strategic silences in the Spanish press coverage

This document is the Published version of a Published Work that appeared in final form in Archives of Medical Research. To access the final edited and published work see https://doi.org/10.1016/j.arcmed.2025.103260The increasing prevalence of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in children has prompted more research on both genetic and environmental risk factors, including endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) such as bisphenol A (BPA) and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs). This review focuses on studies published between 2013 and December 2023 that explore the potential impact of BPA and PCBs on ADHD. The review draws from databases such as WOS, PubMed, and Scopus. BPA, a chemical commonly used in plastics and resins, has raised concerns due to its potential neurodevelopmental effects, particularly when exposure occurs prenatally. Multiple studies have suggested an association between prenatal BPA exposure and an increased risk of ADHD in offspring, though more research is needed. Similarly, PCBs, which are persistent environmental pollutants primarily found in contaminated food sources, have been linked to cognitive and behavioral issues, including attention deficits and hyperactivity. Both BPA and PCBs have been shown to disrupt neurodevelopment, underscoring the importance of regulating these chemicals to safeguard children’s health. While these findings highlight a potential risk, further studies are required to clarify the underlying mechanisms and the precise role these EDCs play in the development of ADHD and other neurobehavioral disorders

Preferentially Expressed Antigen in Melanoma (PRAME) as a diagnostic and predictive marker in melanocytic tumors: An updated narrative review

    No full text
Melanocytic neoplasms range from benign nevi to malignant melanomas, and accurate differen-tiation between these lesions is crucial for effective treatment. Among the various immuno-histochemical markers available, PRAME (Preferentially Expressed Antigen in Melanoma) has emerged as a significant diagnostic tool in the evaluation of melanocytic lesions due to its high sensitivity and specificity, particularly in distinguishing malignant melanomas from benign nevi. PRAME is strongly expressed in malignant melanomas, including cutaneous, uveal, and mucosal variants, while its expression is minimal or absent in benign and dysplastic nevi. Its utility extends to identifying metastases, especially in difficult-to-diagnose cases such as metastatic melanoma, where it aids in differentiating melanoma from other malignancies. Additionally, the presence of PRAME is associated with poor prognosis, as higher expression levels correlate with increased metastatic risk. Despite its effectiveness, the use of PRAME in immunohistochemistry is not without limitations. It is not exclusive to melanoma, as its expression can be seen in some non-melanocytic tumors, which may reduce its specificity in certain cases. Nevertheless, PRAME remains a valuable tool in the diagnostic and prognostic evaluation of melanocytic lesions, particularly when histological features are unclear or ambiguous. Further research is needed to refine its role in different melanoma subtypes and to explore its potential as a target for immunotherapy

    No full text
---------Juan Interián de Ayala composed a poem in Latin dedicated to the birth of Prince Luis Fernando de Borbón, son of Felipe V.
