Influence of blood groups on maximum oxygen consumption and explosive power among high-level basketball players in Palestine
The study aimed to identify the influence of blood groups on maximum oxygen consumption
(VO2max) and explosive power in high-level basketball players in Palestine. The researchers used a
descriptive-analytical approach. The study was conducted on a healthy random sample of 44 players,
whose age, height, and body mass were 25.81 ± 5.79 years, 187.79 ± 9.52 cm, and 89.97 ± 15.61 kg,
respectively. The players were tested using the vertical jump test and the Cooper 12-minute run test.
The results of the study revealed that the mean explosive power was 47.27 cm, and the mean
maximum oxygen consumption (VO2max) was 42.04 mL/kg/min. In addition, blood group had a
statistically significant effect on both maximum oxygen consumption and explosive power, with
blood type B showing higher explosive power and blood type O showing higher VO2max (p < 0.05).
Blood group appears to influence physiological performance in high-level basketball players, with
blood type O associated with higher aerobic capacity (VO2max) and blood type B associated with
greater explosive power. These findings suggest that blood type may be a factor to consider in athlete
assessment and training
Lost in transition! Factors leading to NEET status in youth populations
The NEET phenomenon poses persistent social and economic challenges, although its drivers remain context-dependent and unevenly distributed across space. This study conducts a systematic literature review (2015–2025) to synthesize determinants of youth NEET status through an explicitly spatial, multi-level lens (macro, meso, micro). Across 50 studies, we identify consistent macro influences – youth unemployment, labor precariousness, fiscal and social policies – together with meso factors tied to family background, education systems and school-to-work transitions, and micro determinants including gender, age and educational attainment. Evidence also shows marked territorial differentiation, with peripheral and rural regions displaying persistently higher risks due to constrained opportunity structures and weaker institutional capacity. Differentiating NEET-unemployed from NEET-inactive clarifies heterogeneous trajectories and policy needs. We translate findings into evidence-based, place-sensitive policy recommendations that combine structural reforms with targeted social and educational support, offering actionable insights for inclusive and resilient youth strategies. The review also outlines a future research agenda on digitalization, automation, green transitions, and rigorous comparative/longitudinal evaluation

A Terministic Translation of Moss’ Natural Logic
In this contribution we present a trans-lation from Moss’ natural logic to Sommers’ term logic by using a tableaux method. The result shows Sommers’ term logic lies beyond the Peano-Frege, Church-Turing, and Aristotle frontiers while maintaining the inferential and expressive powers of the systems that inhabit such limits. This suggests that term logic might be instrumental for a natural logic project.En esta contribución presentamos una traducción de la lógica natural de Moss a la lógica de términos de Sommers usando un método de árboles. El resultado de esta traducción muestra que la lógica de términos de Sommers se encuen-tra más allá de la frontera de los sistemas tipo Peano-Frege, Church-Turing y Aristóteles pero mantiene el poder expresivo de los sistemas que habitan dentro de tales límites. Esto sugiere que la lógica de términos puede ser útil para un proyecto de lógica natural
Tumor promotion or suppression: Revisiting the role of EXT1 and heparan sulfate
Heparan sulfate (HS), a linear sulfated
polysaccharide attached to proteoglycans, modulates the
availability and activity of growth factors and cytokines
to regulate cell signaling, adhesion, and migration.
Exostosin-1 (EXT1), a key glycosyl-transferase for HS
chain elongation, is increasingly implicated in cancer
development and progression. Although originally
identified as a tumor suppressor in hereditary multiple
exostoses, EXT1 exhibits a complex, context-dependent
role in cancer. The effects of EXT1 in cancer differ by
cell and tumor type, exerting both tumor-suppressing
and tumor-promoting effects. Notably, EXT1 also alters
the tumor microenvironment via its expression in
stromal fibroblasts and endothelial cells, further
influencing tumor behavior. This review discusses the
functions of HS and EXT1, emphasizing the roles of
EXT1 in cancer and its microenvironment. A deeper
understanding of these mechanisms may offer novel
therapies targeting the HS biosynthetic pathway

PU.1 aggravates hepatic sinusoidal obstruction syndrome by upregulating PTBP1 and activating the Wnt/β-catenin pathway
Objective. Hepatic sinusoidal obstruction syndrome (HSOS) is a disease characterized by damage to hepatic sinusoidal endothelial cells (HSECs). This research investigates the role and regulatory pathway of PU box-binding protein (PU.1) in the progression of HSOS.
Methods. We established an in vivo HSOS model through peritoneal administration of monocrotaline (MCT). Primary murine HSECs were isolated and treated with various concentrations of MCT to establish an in vitro HSOS model. PU.1 knockdown was achieved using lentiviral shRNA constructs, and its impact on oxidative stress, PTBP1 expression, β-catenin mRNA stability, and Wnt/β-catenin signaling was evaluated through kits, RT-qPCR, and western blot. Dual-luciferase and chromatin immunoprecipitation assays were conducted to assess the interaction between PU.1 and the PTBP1 promoter. The molecular association between PTBP1 and β-catenin mRNA was confirmed through RNA pull-down and RIP assays.
Results. PU.1 was upregulated in MCT-induced HSOS, contributing to elevated oxidative stress and activation of the Wnt/β-catenin pathway. PU.1 directly enhanced PTBP1 transcription, which stabilized β-catenin mRNA and sustained Wnt/β-catenin signaling. PU.1 knockdown alleviated oxidative stress, reduced liver damage, and disrupted the PTBP1-β-catenin interaction, leading to Wnt/β-catenin activity inhibition. Overexpression of PTBP1 reversed the protective effects of PU.1 knockdown, reinstating oxidative stress and reactivating Wnt/β-catenin signaling.
Conclusion. PU.1 facilitated HSOS pathogenesis by promoting the transcriptional activity of PTBP1 and activating the Wnt/β-catenin pathway. Targeting PU.1 can serve as a promising therapeutic strategy for reducing oxidative stress and liver damage in HSOS
