Sports activities of preschool children with diabetes
The environment in which children are growing up today is significantly different from the past when children used to spend much more time playing outdoors and engaging in various activities. Today's children are exposed to screens, spending more time sitting and not participating in sports activities. It is important to raise awareness of this issue and address it because these habits can lead to problems like obesity, diabetes, and other related diseases. It is important to raise awareness about the role and significance of sports activities for preschool children, and it is necessary to involve them in various forms of such activities. Children who have diabetes should also be included in these activities, but they need to be monitored during participation. At the beginning of the paper, the concept of sports and physical activities is defined, along with their role in child development. Following this, the concept of diabetes as a disease is introduced, as well as sports activities suitable for children with diabetes. By analyzing professional literature on sports activities and their impact on children with diabetes, important and relevant information is highlighted. Finally, the paper concludes with a summary based on this data. This thesis aims to analyze the existing research on the topic of sports activities in preschool children and diabetes, and to determine whether preschool children with diabetes can engage in sports activities
The importance of Fairy Tale in Children`s Literature and Culture: A Jungian Analysis of Croatian Tales of Long Ago
This master's thesis gives an overview of Ivana Brlić-Mažuranić’s life, work, and influence. It discusses her magnum opus, Croatian Tales of Long Ago, and underscores the enduring legacy of Brlić-Mažuranić and her timeless narratives, addressing the elements of Slavic mythology in the Tales and their enduring presence in modern culture. Through various re-imaginings and adaptations across different media, Brlić-Mažuranić’s Tales remain persistently relevant. Brlić-Mažuranić’s so called “ethics of the heart” is brought up along with a discussion on the enduring appeal of the tales. This paper analyzes the Tales within the theoretical framework of the psychology of Carl Gustav Jung, covering the fundamental ideas such as the psyche, individuation, and archetypes (ego, persona, animus, anima, shadow). Additionally, Marie Luise von Franz’s theory of fairy tale interpretation is laid out and the Jungian lens is used to analyze the literary and psychological dimensions of the two the stories from Croatian Tales of Long Ago, “How Quest Sought the Truth” and “Bridesman Sun and Bride Bridekins,” focusing on the symbols (fire, forest, well, the Sun) and archetypes, and emphasizing the connection to and inspiration taken from Slavic mythology. The heroes of the tales, Quest and Bride Bridekins, embrace their anima and animus, respectively, to achieve fulfillment. Quest’s journey reflects a person’s quest for self-knowledge, the ultimate realization of a whole identity. The psychological dynamics traced in Bridekins’ story outline the personal shadow’s pursuit of the ego, and the ego (Bridekins) successfully transcending the challenge and achieving individuation despite the hinderance. The significance of these tales for children's culture are the concepts of self-discovery, resilience, and overcoming adversity. By vicariously experiencing the heroes’ journeys, children are exposed to the psychological processes of facing challenges and striving for personal growth, which in turn helps them navigate their own struggles and develop a stronger sense of identity and self-worth. The archetypal structure is also significant in theatrical adaptations of the two tales, which is shown through the analysis of two specific plays based on Ivana Brlić-Mažuranić’s stories. By carrying out the Jungian analysis of two of the stories and the elements of Slavic mythology at the level of literary text and its adaptation, this study determines in what ways Ivana Brlić-Mažuranić and her Tales are a significant part of children’s culture today.
Traditional games of Đakovo region as part of cultural heritage
Igra predstavlja najvažniji dio djetetova odrastanja, kroz nju dijete uči o samome sebi i svijetu koji ga okružuje, spoznaje i otkriva nova znanja i vještine, a sve to kroz radost, jednostavnost, praktičnost i neposredno iskustvo. In this graduation thesis, the traditional games of Đakovo region will be presented as part of the cultural heritage. The game represents the most important part of the child's growth, and through it the child learns about himself, the world that surrounds him, learns and discovers new knowledge and skills, all through joy, simplicity, practicality and immediate experience. Every aspect of life can be shown to the child through play, and through it the child will discover the meaning of that aspect of life in a subtle and symbolic way. The role of play in a child's life is invaluable and affects his overall development. There are several different types of games, and one of them is the traditional game. A traditional game refers to a game that originated from the people, that developed within a certain culture or community, and developed over time and was most often transmitted orally, from generation to generation. It represents an important part of intangible cultural heritage. Cultural heritage refers to the collection of cultural goods that have been inherited from the past and from past generations, and we divide it into tangible and intangible. While tangible cultural heritage refers to physical objects, intangible or "living" heritage encompasses customs, knowledge, values and spiritual creativity transmitted through oral tradition. The aim of this thesis is to point out the importance of preserving the intangible cultural heritage and traditions of Đakovo region by researching traditional games in the area of Đakovo and their qualitative analysis. In addition, the goal of this thesis is to encourage young generations to take care of their own cultural identity. In the modern world, which is developing and changing more and more every day, it is important to continue to preserve and nurture the cultural identity, origin, values, customs and traditions left to us by the older generations over time
The course of musical development in preschool age
Metodologija istraživanja podrazumijeva proučavanje znanstvene i stručne literature. The purpose of this thesis is to gain a deeper understanding of the processes involved in the development of children's musical abilities. In addition, the aim of the work is to determine how children's musical development occurs from birth to the beginning of primary school. The research methodology involves the study of both scientific and professional literature. This study seeks to answer the following research questions: what are the factors influencing children's musical development, what are the stages of musical development and their characteristics, and how can educators influence children's musical development within the educational context of a kindergarten. It has been established that the key factors in musical development are heredity, a stimulating environment, and the child's musical activity. The first stage of musical development is the listening phase, characterized by reactions to sound and sound localization. The second stage is marked by motor responses to music, including the onset of active musical imitation and vocalization in response to musical stimuli. The phase of initial musical reaction also includes "musical babbling," which involves attempts to reproduce musical content. The stage of genuine musical response is characterized by spontaneous singing and an increased interest in music. The imaginative song phase involves singing various melodies, often invented or composed of segments from known songs. Before entering primary school, children enter the rhythm development phase, marked by a significant advancement in the sense of rhythm. In the educational work within kindergartens, educators can significantly influence children's musical development through various musical activities such as singing, listening to music, musical games, and encouraging children's musical creativity. The educator's role is to provide stimulating musical activities in order to create an appropriate musical environment and encourage children to be musically active, which is a prerequisite for their musical development
Metaanaliza prvog i drugog reda u pedagoškim istraživanjima: Rekapitulacija sintetizirajućeg istraživanja odgoja i obrazovanja
Dvije stotine i šezdeset godina kontinuiranog školstva u Velikoj Kopanici
The Role and Importance of Quality of Life among Preschool Children as a Prerequisite for a Positively Oriented Upbringing
The aim of this study was to evaluate the health-related quality of life (QoL) in a sample of healthy preschool children in the Republic of Croatia and comment on whether and how the research results open the preconditions for positive individual scenarios of the future related to positively oriented upbringing. The Pediatric quality of life inventory generic core scales (PedsQLTM) was completed by 230 healthy preschool children (5-6 years old) and their parents as a proxy-report. The data was descriptively analysed first. Reliability was assessed by Cronbach’s alpha. The statistically significant difference between the PedsQLTM scales (physical, emotional, social, kindergarten and psychosocial functioning) for preschool children and their parent’s proxy-report were analysed. The PedsQLTM scale score means for children’s self-report ranged 71.32-76.49, with the total score was 74.53. Score means for their parent’s proxy-report scale ranged 73.59-85.46, with the total score of 80.93. All the self-report and proxy-report scales showed satisfactory reliability with Cronbach’s alpha varying between 0.64 and 0.89. Statistically significant difference between scales in self-report and proxy-report was for physical (t=-7.12, p<0.01), social (t=-6.42, p<0.01) and school functioning (t=-2.62, p<0.01) as well as psychosocial (t=-4.82, p<0.01) and total health (t=-6.85, p<0.01). The Croatian PedsQLTM is valid and reliable generic pediatric health-related QoL measurement that can be recommended for children’s self-reports and their parent’s proxy-reports. The results of the research open a precondition for positive individual scenarios of the future related to positively oriented upbringing
Study on Information Security Awareness using the Behavioral-Cognitive Internet Security Questionnaire
As technical security solutions are far from being enough to protect different kinds of information and communication systems, due to the human element, it was necessary to involve psychologists and define this problem as an interdisciplinary one. A validated questionnaire can be a good instrument for measuring users’ information security awareness, knowledge on privacy issues and risk involved in online behavior, so conclusions gathered through empirical studies based on those kinds of questionnaires should be helpful in designing educative training programs. The aim of this paper was both to present the validated Behavioral-Cognitive Internet Security Questionnaire and prove its suitability for international usage as well as to present general conclusions regarding information and communication system users gathered through its development process. In this study, were included participants from 41 different countries, while English, Croatian, Slovenian and Hungarian language versions of questionnaire were used. Results have shown that developed questionnaire can be used internationally and the sum of the conclusions is that users believe themselves to act more safely than they actually do; awareness has been rising over the years, but risk in online behavior has not been mitigated. Consequently, many users will still reveal their password, mostly under the influence of friendship or authority. Therefore, seeing as existing solutions are not good enough to resolve this global problem further studies should focus on developing some kind of an interactive platform that will be based on the results of empirical studies. It should not be based on restrictions, but rather on educational training, preferably personalized, and expanded with real-time warning solutions in order to keep up with constant changes in this field
Attitudes of preschool children towards nature
The paper deals with the topic of preschool children's relationship with nature. The way preschool children perceive and react to the natural environment is described, as well as the importance of encouraging environmental awareness in children from an early age. Since preschool children show a high motivation to explore nature and the world around them, such activities contribute to the development of a positive attitude towards nature. In the process of encouraging love for nature, educators, parents and other close people from the child's environment play an important role, because they are the example that the child follows. It is also important that adults provide children with access to diverse natural environments in order to encourage their curiosity, love and responsible attitude towards nature from an early age
Contemporary urban heritage in children's photographs
Slijedi provođenje intervjua s odraslim osobama radi usporedbe interpretacija. This research focuses on the creative process of preschool children through the art of photography and seeks to understand the interpretation and analysis of the motifs they photographed. In the theoretical part, a brief historical overview of photography as a medium and means of expression will be made. The first step in the research involves encouraging children to freely express themselves through photography, without predetermined guidelines, after which the researchers will analyze the same works. This is followed by conducting interviews with adults in order to compare interpretations. After collecting the data, the researchers will analyze the responses of all participants in order to further explore the diversity of children's perceptions of art and the creative process. The goal is a deeper understanding of children's creativity and the different ways in which people perceive art
